Filter by:Circadian rest-Activity Rhythm disorders (CARDs) are common in patients with cancer, particularly in advanced disease. CARDs are associated with increased symptoms, poorer quality of life, poorer response to anticancer treatments and shorter survival. The goal of this observational study is to see how common CARDs are in patients with advanced cancer and to characterise their rest and activity patterns in more detail. A recent study has outlined a standard way to assess and diagnose a CARD. This study aims to assess patients with advanced cancer for a CARD using a novel screening tool against this newly formed diagnostic criteria. Potentially modifiable risk factors will be considered along with associations between CARDs and symptoms, sleep preferences, sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, quality of life measures and predictors of survival.
If a subject agrees to participate, the primary investigators will collect some basic information including age, height, and weight. Intake of some general questions regarding health will be performed and each subject will complete some tests that measure walking speed, cognition, and balance. During these tests participants will be asked to stand from a chair, walk up & down a staircase, walk over objects in a forward, backward, and sideways directions, walk around objects in forward and backward directions. After completing those tests, participants will be asked to repeat them while doing another task such as counting out loud, naming objects, or passing an object from one hand to another.
The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of a digital (web and mobile-phone-based) program to improve lifestyle behaviors (physical activity, dietary intake) among Hispanic female cancer survivors and adult daughters.
Rape is a common cause of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among women, as around 30-50% will develop PTSD in the aftermath of rape. A modified protocol based on Prolonged Exposure Therapy (mPE), has been developed, consisting of three to five once or twice weekly 60 minutes sessions, and studies indicate that if implemented early after rape, mPE may prevent the development of PTSD. The aim of the study is to conduct a multi-site (4 Sexual assault care centers in Norway) randomized control trial (RCT) in which patients are recruited early after rape, and randomized to intervention (mPE) or treatment as usual (TAU).
The Young Children's Participation and Environment Measure (YC-PEM) is a parent/caregiver reported outcome measure that evaluates the participation status and environmental factors of children under five years old. The aim of this study is to translate the Young Children's Participation and Environment Measure (YC-PEM) into the Turkish language and to investigate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of YC-PEM in children with typical development and neurodevelopmental disabilities under five years old.
This investigation aims to explore sleeping habits in patients with haemophilia. These patients often suffer from joint pain, which leads to restricted physical activity. Further, many of the patients suffer from psychological strains, such as depression. Both depression and restricted physical activity can result in sleeping disorders. Thus it is aimed to find out which factors and comorbidities do play a role within sleeping habits in patients with haemophilia.
