Filter by:To assess the adequacy of an endometrial biopsy sample obtained using sonohysterography.
The purpose of this study is to see if megestrol acetate plus metformin will be more effective in returning the endometrial tissue to a normal state than megestrol acetate alone in patients with endometrial atypical hyperplasia or early stage endometrial adenocarcinoma.
Background and aims: Cancer-related malnutrition is multifactorial and related to a bad prognosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of intensive, individual dietary counseling of patients in radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy for gynecologic-, gastric-, or esophageal cancer.
The prevalence of anemia in gynecologic oncology new patients has been seen in previous studies to be as high as 35-59%. this population includes women with several types of gynecologic malignancies. Therefore, it is assumed that the origin of the anemia can be due to anemia of chronic disease and iron deficiency anemia. No previous studies have looked at the efficacy of oral iron supplementation with concurrent Vitamin C in women with newly diagnosed gynecologic malignancies. Hypothesis: In newly diagnosed gynecologic oncology patients who are surgical candidates does treatment with 3-6 weeks of oral ferrous fumarate 300 mg once a day improve the mean change in hemoglobin levels, from baseline to pre-operative, in comparison to placebo.
This randomized phase II trial studies how well megestrol acetate or levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system works in treating patients with atypical endometrial hyperplasia or endometrial cancer. Progesterone can cause the growth of endometrial cancer cells. Hormone therapy using megestrol acetate or levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system may fight endometrial cancer by lowering the amount of progesterone the body makes. It is not yet known whether megestrol acetate is more effective than levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system in treating atypical endometrial hyperplasia or endometrial cancer.
This randomized clinical trial studies a cognitive-behavioral intervention to treat worry, uncertainty, and insomnia in cancer survivors. Counseling may reduce anxiety and insomnia as well as improve the well-being and quality of life of cancer survivors. This study also explores the neuro-immunologic correlates of anxiety and insomnia.
The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of Metformin, a well tolerated drug widely prescribed for treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, on endometrium cancer patients.
This is an assisted exercise trial involving exercise on a stationary bike, brain imaging and DNA(genetics)sampling. The purpose of this study is to find out if performing a progressive, supervised assisted exercise program on a stationary bike improves quality of life, increases motivation to continue to exercise, improves dietary behavior and leads to sustained weight loss in women who have had early-stage endometrial cancer. Questionnaires will be used to assess exercise motivation and dietary behavior. Brain's responses to different visual images will also be assessed.
The purpose of this study is to compare once-a-week vs. twice-a-week strength training in survivors of breast and gynecologic cancer to determine which is the optimal exercise prescription.
There is a high prevalence of sexual and body image problems among women treated for gynecologic cancer, which can lead to considerable distress. Given the sensitive and highly personal nature of these problems, women are often reluctant to speak to their doctors about these concerns and have few resources for support and information. The research team will conduct a prospective randomized controlled trail (RCT) to test the benefits of "GyneGals," a 12-week online (i.e. Internet-based) support group intervention for women who are sexually distressed due to gynecologic cancer and its treatment. The primary aim of this study is to determine whether a professionally-facilitated, information-rich, online support group is beneficial for women who are sexually distressed due to gynecologic cancer and the side effects of treatment.
