Filter by:Metacure MC PT TAN2005-013 feasibility study is a prospective, multi-center, study to evaluate the safety and functionality of the TANTALUS System, in the treatment of obese T2DM patients, and to assess the effect of GCT ( Glycemic Control Treatment )on weight loss and glycemic control.
Obesity and diabetes increase cardiovascular risk by complex and incompletely known mechanisms. The aims of this study are : 1. to compare cardiac and vascular functions at rest and during exercise in 4 groups of age-matched men, without cardiovascular diseases but exhibiting increasing cardiovascular risk: trained and untrained healthy volunteers, obese and type 2 diabetic subjects 2. to test the effects of a 8-weeks long individualized training program on these functions in obese subjects and in diabetics patients.
This is a 16-week randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, multi-center, placebo- and active- (metformin 1.5 g) controlled study of tesaglitazar (1 mg) in patients with type 2 diabetes. After a 1-week enrollment period, a 3 week placebo single blind run in period and 1-week placebo single-blind baseline measurement period, the patients will be given the investigational product for 16 weeks in a double blind fashion. Metformin will be titrated up during the first 3 weeks of the double-blind period. The total study duration, including enrollment, run-in, randomized treatment and follow-up, is 29 weeks.
The purpose of this clinical research study is to learn if BMS-512148 is effective in controlling blood sugar levels as determined by HbA1c and fasting plasma glucose in patients who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Patients should first try to control their diabetes with diet and exercise and should not have previously been treated for their diabetes (very short periods of time are acceptable). The safety of BMS512148 will also be studied
This is a 12-week study to determine the effect on glucose and lipids, safety, and tolerability of four doses of tesaglitazar (0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 mg) compared with placebo in patients with type 2 diabetes. Improvement in dyslipidemia will be evaluated. The study comprises a 2-week screening period, 4-week placebo run-in, a 12-week randomized, double blind, parallel group, multi-center, placebo-controlled treatment period, and a 3-week follow-up.
This is a 24-week study to determine the lipid metabolic effects, safety, and tolerability of tesaglitazar compared with metformin and metformin in combination with fenofibrate in patients with type 2 diabetes and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Improvement in dyslipidemia will be evaluated. The study comprises a 2-week enrollment period, 6-week run-in and a 24-week randomized, double blind, parallel group, multi-center, active controlled (metformin with or without fenofibrate) treatment period and a 3-week follow-up. From visit 2 (run-in), all patients will receive a standardized dose of statin (rosuvastatin)
Type 2 diabetes mellitus, T2D is a disease characterized by an immense growing prevalence world wide with an increased risk of myocardial infarction and stroke. GLP-1 has convincing effects on the high glucose levels in type 2 diabetic patients and is well tolerated. New animal studies indicate a protective effect of GLP-1 in the brain and the heart. The mechanism behind this is yet not known. The study hypothesis is that GLP-1 will stimulate glucose-uptake in the brain and heart independent of insulin and thereby exert its protective effects.
This is a long-term safety follow-up study to assess the post-treatment safety, at 12 and 24 months, in patients with type 2 diabetes after participation in the phaseII/III studies GALLANT, GALLEX and ARMOR. In addition, selected patients, including those with pre-defined laboratory or clinical findings, will have a 12-week post-treatment follow-up visit, including laboratory evaluation and adverse event recording.
This is a 52-week randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, multi-center, active-controlled (glibenclamide) study of tesaglitazar in patients with type 2 diabetes, not adequately controlled on diet and lifestyle advice alone during the run-in period. The study comprises a 6 week placebo single blind run in period followed by a 52-week double blind treatment period and a 3-week follow-up period. Tesaglitazar and glibenclamide will be titrated to optimal effect or highest tolerable dose during the first 12 weeks.
The purpose of the project is to shown whether a little dose of a short acting insulin analogue given 3 time daily before the meals compared with placebo could normalise the increase in blood glucose after teh meals in diet treated Type 2 diabetic patients.
