Filter by:A randomized study comparing an early aggressive with an initially conservative strategy in patients >74 y.o. with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome. This study had generated a secondary one: "Causes of death in elderly patients with Non-ST-Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome; predictors of in-hospital and follow-up death"
To test the hypothesis that the combination of the tincture of opium (DTO) and clonidine will be more effective in treating infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome (opioid withdrawal) than tincture of opium (DTO) alone.
This phase II trial is studying how well aflibercept works in treating patients with myelodysplastic syndromes. Aflibercept may be able to carry cancer-killing substances directly to myelodysplastic syndrome cells. It may also stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking blood flow to the cancer
The goal of this study is to create a registry of information about women who have or are at risk for Lynch syndrome, in order to study gynecologic cancer risks. This is an investigational study. Up to 1000 patients will take part in this study. All patients will be enrolled at MD Anderson.
258 patients who have been treated for at least 3 months with oral olanzapine, risperidone or quetiapine in the treatment of schizophrenia and currently presenting with metabolic syndrome, will be randomized to: i) aripiprazole for 16 weeks, with flexible dosing within a range of 10 to 30 mg once daily (QD); or ii) continue for 16 weeks on the same atypical antipsychotic treatment prior to the study enrollment.
Autism is considered as an invading disorder of the development. Asperger Syndrome (AS) is a particular form of autism and is difficult to diagnose. The Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ) has been developed in order to measure the degree of autistic traits in autistic adolescent with normal intelligence (Baron-Cohen et al. 2001, 2006). AQ comprises 50 questions, with 5 groups of 10 questions assessing imagination, social skills, attention switching, attention to detail and communication skills. Each of these items scores 1 point if the respondent records abnormal or autistic like behaviour. The minimum score on the AQ is 0 and the maximum 50. The principal objective of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of the French version of Autism Spectrum Quotient questionnaire. Secondary objectives are to: Evaluate if EQ and SQ can distinguish adolescents without psychiatric syndromes from those with classical autism or AS. Evaluate if AQ, EQ and SQ can distinguish adolescents with psychiatric disorders from autistic adolescents. Define the threshold of positivity for the 3 questionnaires.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as clofarabine and cytarabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Colony-stimulating factors, such as G-CSF, may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or in peripheral blood and may help the immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. Giving clofarabine and cytarabine together with G-CSF may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of clofarabine and to see how well it works when given together with cytarabine and G-CSF in treating patients with myelodysplastic syndromes.
This study is a phase I, open-label, single-arm, dose escalation trial to determine the safety and activity of lenalidomide combined with lintuzumab in patients with MDS. Small groups of 3-6 patients will be treated with pre-specified doses of lenalidomide and lintuzumab and will receive 3-week cycles of combination therapy.
The primary objective of this study is to compare two methods of post-delivery stabilization and subsequent early respiratory care for reducing the need for MV and related secondary complications, such as BPD, in premature babies at high risk of RDS: 1. Early stabilization on nCPAP 2. Intubation, prophylactic surfactant (Curosurf®) administration shortly after delivery, and rapid extubation to nCPAP. The data obtained from this comparison will be applied to test the hypothesis that preterm neonates at risk of RDS who are treated with prophylactic surfactant + nCPAP show less need for MV when compared to infants who receive nCPAP alone.
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of vorinostat in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable solid tumors or lymphoma and liver dysfunction. (closed for accrual as of 04/05/2010) Vorinostat may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Vorinostat may have different effects in patients who have changes in their liver function.
