Filter by:Recently, TCM has played an important role in adjuvant therapy for lung cancer. TCM treatment is based on pattern identification, and constitution theory is also used as a tool for TCM to predict the disease progression. Although there have been many researchs related to the pattern identification and constitution of lung cancer, in view of the problems and limitations, further research on lung cancer patients in Taiwan is needed. This study aims to explore the correlation between TCM constitution, pattern identification, and other related factors in patients with primary lung cancer in Taiwan, hoping to reveal the disease characteristics of lung cancer in TCM theory. This study intends to interview subjects through attending physicians in the thoracic ward and outpatient clinic of the CMUH from November 20th, 2023 to May 19th , 2025, and the subjects will be included in this study after the researchers ask the subjects for consent. This study will collect the demographic data of the subjects (sex, age, BMI, smoking history) and disease-related clinical data (tumor stage, pathological type, gene mutation, tumor markers, other comorbidities), and the investigator will ask about the subjects' signs according to the Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire (CCMQ) , ask the subjects' symptoms according to the pattern identification table, obtain the data to analyze their distribution by descriptive statistics, and then analyze the correlation between them by analysis of variance and Chi-square test.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of vaginal Carbon Dioxide Laser treatment in patients with Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause on the improvement of Vulvovaginal Atrophy (VVA) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) by objective parameters and in particular to assess the ultrasound measurement of specific vaginal parameters in order to evaluate a new objective tool of assessment.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that affects approximately 10-20% of women of reproductive age, Management strategies for PCOS include lifestyle modifications such as diet and physical activity that are the first-line approach to treatment; however, they are reported to be minimally effective in reducing weight or treating PCOS-related symptoms.Pharmacological options are also available; however, they are not explicitly approved for PCOS treatment as they have been primarily used to treat other conditions such as T2DM
Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome(OHS) is a disease characterized by daytime hypercapnia and sleep-disordered breathing without other causes of hypoventilation in individuals with a body mass index above 30 kg/m2. Sources state that obesity is at the basis of the metabolic changes seen in individuals with OHS. Obesity, together with cardiovascular system complications, lung volumes, work of breathing and sleep quality, creating the basis for respiratory problems. In addition, sedentary lifestyle habits, which are common in obese individuals, cause negative effects on exercise capacity and peripheral muscle strength. It has been shown in the literature that decreased exercise capacity due to obesity strongly interacts with the risk of all-cause mortality. As a result of obesity and all this negative picture, impaired emotional state and decreased quality of life are observed in individuals. Numerous studies have shown that obese individuals generally have a low level of physical activity, there is a decrease in peripheral muscle strength, obese individuals are at risk for sleep-related respiratory problems and health-related quality of life is often negatively affected in obese individuals. With these studies, the effects of obesity on individuals have been evaluated with objective evaluation methods. However, the same cannot be said for OHS. It is not clear how exercise capacity, peripheral muscle strength and quality of life parameters, which are known to be negatively affected by obesity, are affected in individuals with OHS. Based on this point, this study aims to investigate whether OHS has an additional effect on exercise capacity, peripheral muscle strength and quality of life in addition to obesity.
Diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome are closely linked to sleep apnea syndrome. Indeed, diabetic and/or obese patients present an increased risk of sleep apnoea syndrome (SAS), with a prevalence estimated at between 10 and 22%, depending on the study, and most of them requiring treatment with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP). In this sub-population of patients, only between 40% and 50% benefit from CPAP.
this is open labelled randomize control trial among women with PCOS. PCOS, an endocrine condition, affects 5%-15% of premenopausal women. PCOS is characterized by atypical menstruation, ovulation difficulties, hyperandrogenemia, insulin resistance, and other metabolic abnormalities. Metformin is now an option for PCOS. The clinical reactions to metformin are limited and varied. Novel SGLT2 inhibitors treat type 2 diabetes with weight loss, insulin resistance reduction, and cardiovascular benefits. There is little evidence on SGLT2 inhibitor effectiveness in PCOS patients.
This project is a single center, randomized, controlled clinical trial evaluating the effects of DAO enzyme dietary supplement on symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. These participants are randomized to either a 4-week group with DAO enzyme dietary supplement or placebo. The participants are required to fill out IBS-SSS and IBS-QOL questionnaires and record their IBS symptom improvement, IBS treatment drug use, compliance and adverse reactions every evening. At the same time, the patients' diet is continuously recorded for 3 days by 24-hour diet review method in Visit 0, Visit 1 and Visit 2, respectively, to inform the patients to avoid large fluctuations in diet structure. On days 0, 14 and 28, the subjects are asked to visit the hospital offline. The staff check with the subjects in detail according to the scale and questionnaire contents, and review the general situation and questionnaire in the previous 2 weeks. On the 7th and 21st day, the staff contact the subjects online to provide guidance and remind the subjects to fill in the scale and questionnaire. In addition, oral mucosal samples, urine and feces will be collected for identifying mutations in the genetic DAO enzyme coding gene, histamine detection and 16sRNA sequencing, respectively.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of an adapted, telehealth functional behavioral therapy (FBTsIDD) specifically focused on promoting appropriate communication and behavioral strategies in individuals with syndromic intellectual and developmental disorders. Participants will be asked to complete virtual study assessments at intake and then on a monthly basis for the duration of 3-6 months. In addition, participants will attend weekly or biweekly virtual intervention visits with a study therapist.
Upper cross syndrome (UCS) is a common muscles related postural disorder which is increasing every new day that is affecting the health related quality of life. It is most prevalent amongst the individuals who work at computers or laptops, or on desks. The UCS is caused by poor posture. Weak core musculature leads to poor body posture causing chronic degenerative changes and disturbing body alignment and body equilibrium. Core stability exercises (CSE) are a good strategy to improve body posture. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of muscle energy technique (MET) combined with the strengthening of deep neck flexors with and without core stability exercise to manage Upper Cross Syndrome (UCS) patients.
This study aimed to determine the distribution of pain sensitivity according to body segments in patients with central sensitization associated with chronic subacromial pain syndrome (SPS).This cross-sectional study included patients with chronic SPS and central sensitization (patient group) and the same number of healthy participants as controls. The presence of central sensitization was determined using the Central Sensitization Inventory. To determine the segmental distribution of pain sensitivity, pressure pain threshold measurements were performed bilaterally from the shoulder, forearm, and leg.
