Quality of Life After Hysterectomy (AdenoQOL)

Adenomyosis is a disease where ectopic endometrial-like glands affect the muscular wall of the uterus. About 70% of women affected by adenomyosis suffer from dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia. A levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUD) is the first-choice treatment of adenomyosis, but is not always sufficiently effective in all women. Those women often end up removing the uterus (hysterectomy). Hysterectomy is clinically regarded to be an efficient and final treatment of adenomyosis, but pelvic pain may also prevail after removal of the uterus. This study aimes to investigate the short - and long-term impact of hysterectomy on quality of life (QOL) and sexual function in women with adenomyosis, and further to evaluate if there is any difference compared to women that are removing their uterus due to other benign gynecological conditions.

The world population is ageing rapidly as a result of low fertility and mortality rates and increasing life expectancies. Old age people (age 60 years and above) shared 962 million or 13% of the global population in 2017 and expected to be two billion by 2050. As individuals grow old, their dietary pattern changes and the risk of malnutrition estimated between 11.8% to 27% in the community elderly people. Ageing and nutrition are by far the number-one driver of the global burden of disease: every country is facing. Early assessment and management of malnutrition among old age people can minimize the negative consequences, extending to better health status and quality of life. Nutrition counselling is one of the first line of nutritional therapy. However, malnutrition in old age people remains under-detected, under-treated and under resourced, and is often overlooked in low-income countries like Ethiopia. Furthermore, nutritional interventions targeted to old age people are lacking in the country. Therefore, this study is intended to estimate the effects of nutrition counselling on old age people's nutritional status and quality of life in Bahir Dar City, Northwestern Ethiopia

The investigators hypothesize that a brief telehealth counseling intervention will be safe (participants in the clinical trial will not have increased risk of suicidal behavior), acceptable (high patient retention and satisfaction, high fidelity), and will demonstrate preliminary efficacy (reduced suicidal ideation, improved care engagement, improved mental well-being).

The PreQ-20 TRIAL, a Prospective Cohort Study of Patients Undergoing Prepectoral Breast Reconstruction

The investigators conducted a prospective cohort study to assess the safety, quality of life and cosmetic sequelae of prepectoral breast reconstruction in women with breast cancer and high risk. The study's main objective is to assess the safety of prepectoral breast reconstruction in terms of postsurgical complications and the feasibility of reconstruction (loss of implants). The secondary objectives are to evaluate oncologic safety (local relapses, residual glandular tissue) and to identify factors related to quality of life and cosmetic sequelae. The evaluation of residual tissue will be conducted by magnetic resonance imaging 12 to 18 months after the surgery, and the quality-of-life assessment will be performed using the BreastQ questionnaire. An initial patient evaluation will be conducted 12-18 months after the surgery, and a second evaluation will be performed at 5 years. The estimated sample size is 81 patients.
