Silver Diamine Fluoride: A Randomized Controlled Trial on Its Effectiveness As A Caries Arresting Agent

The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of 38% Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) solution and to determine if it is superior to 5% NaF varnish in arresting carious lesions in the primary teeth of young children attending general dental clinic, Universiti Teknologi Mara. Hypothesis: Topical application of a 38% SDF solution on the primary teeth is superior to that of a 5% NaF varnish in arresting caries lesions in children at 3-months follow-up An intervention study is planned to compare the effectiveness of 38% SDF and 5% NaF in arresting caries lesions in primary teeth of 3-8 years old children attending general dental clinic, Universiti Teknologi Mara. The sample size needed (considering a 20% dropout rate) is 66 participants in each group. In addition, this study also aims to determine the demographic background, oral health-related habits, oral health-related quality of life of the participants and the parents acceptance on SDF treatment towards their child.

Territorial Implementation and Evaluation of a Multiple Sclerosis Expert Patient Program

Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects about 50,000 people in Spain, so it is essential to implement health interventions that meet their needs and demands. Expert patient programs facilitate health-related empowerment through peer learning. From a study of focus groups that identified the characteristics and contents of an expert patient program for MS and the ongoing pilot tests, the need for implementation in the different reference units of Catalonia is established. Hypothesis: The territorial implementation in Catalonia of a Catalonia® Expert Patient Program for people with MS (PPEC-EM) based on peer learning will improve the quality of life, knowledge and self-management related to the health process of the participants. Objective: To deploy and evaluate the territorial implementation of a PPEC-EM based on peer learning regarding the quality of life, knowledge and self-management related to the health process of the participants. Methodology: Pre-post intervention multicenter clinical study. This study will begin after the approval of the respective Ethics Committees. The deployment will consist of 12 groups of patients (2 per unit): 6 groups with people with recurrent MS and 6 groups with people with progressive MS. A patient with MS previously trained by a team of health professionals will lead 9 educational group sessions (1 weekly session for 9 weeks) with 12 people with the same disease in order to improve the impact and self-management according to the health process. The main variable is the improvement of the quality of life and the secondary ones are the emotional impact, activation of the person, knowledge on the MS, fatigue, habits and lifestyles, use of the sanitary services and program-related experience of participants. All variables will be measured before and after the intervention and after 6 and 12 months. A pre-post comparability analysis will be developed in relation to the variables studied.

Pragmatic Implementation Trial of a CF Primary Palliative Care Intervention

Five Cystic Fibrosis (CF) centers, key stakeholders, and a palliative care institute have collaborated to create a novel primary palliative care intervention for patients with CF, "Improving Life with CF: A Primary Palliative Care Partnership," and established the infrastructure and support necessary for a follow-on implementation study. This intervention provides a framework for a nationally generalizable model to improve best practices in generalist-level palliative care in CF. Objectives: Aim 1: Implement a primary palliative care intervention comprising screening-and-triage workflows, best practice treatment guides for high frequency problems, patient/family and provider education, and a quality improvement (QI) toolkit. Aim 2: Evaluate feasibility, uptake, and preliminary outcomes during a multisite pragmatic, implementation trial of the intervention at 5 diverse Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Centers. Subaim 2.1: Evaluate feasibility and uptake as measured by rates of screening and treatment delivery. Hypothesis 1: Related to feasibility and uptake of the intervention: 1. > 80% of individuals with CF of all ages will receive an annual palliative care screening. 2. > 25% of individuals with CF will receive a palliative care screening prompted by hospitalization, new diagnosis of CF-Related Diabetes, need for transplantation, or another disease- or treatment-specific trigger. Hypothesis 2: Related to provider education: a) > 80% will access >1 training(s) (on-demand webinars or in-service by trained site educators). Subaim 2.2: Evaluate data on preliminary outcomes for individuals with CF by comparing ratings on patient- and caregiver-reported outcome measures (e.g., Integrated Palliative Care Outcome Scale, Cystic Fibrosis Questionnaire-Revised, Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale-Cystic Fibrosis, and Brief Assessment Scale for Caregivers) during the trial to baseline ratings and exploring covariates of change (age, race/ethnicity, gender, disease severity, CFTR modifier treatment, psychological distress, and varied indicators reflecting intervention implementation).

Specifically, ASCAPE aims to provide personalized- and AI-based predictions for QoL issues in breast- and prostate cancer patients as well as suggest potential interventions to their physicians. Physical Activity Counseling After Bariatric Surgery
