NCT ID: NCT03192982 Recruiting - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Post-operative Complication, Impulsive Compression, in Situ Bypass

50506
Start date: February 8, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To investigate whether compression therapy with foot pump reduce post-operative edema, facilitate wound healing of operation wounds, promote healing of ischemic ulcers and shorten hospitalization, increase and improve the patient's subjective quality of life faster

NCT ID: NCT03171012 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

Addition of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation to Cardio Respiratory Training Post Stroke

Start date: June 19, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Post-stroke hemiparesis causes sequelae in the limbs and also in the trunk and abdomen structures. The level of physical activity decreases and cardiorespiratory training(CRT) is indicated to this population to improve the functions of several systems (respiratory, cardiovascular, muscular). The application of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facility(PNF) would imply in the awareness and greater harmony of the functions performed by the trunk of this individual. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of respiratory and trunk characteristics of the PNF associated with Cardiorespiratory training in quality of life, gait, distance traveled, peak oxygen consumption, respiratory muscle strength, thoracic cavity volumes, mobility and diaphragmatic thickness of individuals with post stroke.

NCT ID: NCT03147443 Recruiting - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Evaluating the Effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine by N-of-1 Trials

Start date: March 1, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Treatment based on syndrome differentiation is the essence of traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) and forms the individualized treatment. N-of-1 trials may be a good clinical effect evaluation method for the individualized treatment of TCM. This study aims to compare: (1) the efficacy of syndrome differentiation(individualized decoction) with placebo, (2)the efficacy of syndrome differentiation(individualized decoction) with the same prescription minus heat-clearing Chinese herbs, for patients with stable bronchiectasis through N-of-1 trials.

NCT ID: NCT03142490 Recruiting - Anxiety Clinical Trials

Acupuncture as a Complementary Therapy for in Vitro Fertilization Patients: a Randomized Controlled Trial

Start date: December 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is an open-label randomized controlled trial of the use of acupuncture in infertile patients receiving In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Patients will be randomized into two groups: treatment group will receive acupuncture as a complementary approach to IVF and control group will receive the IVF treatment. Groups will be compared with the World Health Organization quality of life (WHOQOL-Bref), short-form 36 (SF-36), State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Scope-Stress questionnaires.

NCT ID: NCT03142477 Recruiting - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Effects of Therapeutic Touch in Patients With Female Genital Neoplasia: a Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

Start date: August 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a randomized controlled prospective study on the use of therapeutic touch in patients diagnosed with gynecological cancer. The patients will be randomized into three groups: control group (will not receive any interventions with therapeutic touch), placebo group (will receive simulated therapeutic touch intervention by individual not knowing this technique) and treatment group(will receive therapeutic touch intervention by a trained therapeutic touch therapist). Two different quality of life questionnaires will be applied (before and after treatment). Levels of cortisol, salivary IgA, hematological indices and telomerase activity before and after the use of therapeutic touch will be compared between groups.

NCT ID: NCT03132948 Recruiting - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Quality of Life in Pediatric Patients With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Receiving Maintenance Chemotherapy

Start date: October 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the impact of exercise on physical activity levels and quality of life in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) receiving maintenance chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT03114007 Recruiting - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Integrated Prevention and Collaborative Care for Youth Mental Health

Start date: April 24, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Mental health problems affect 10-20% of children and adolescents worldwide, with half of affected youth experiencing problems by the age of 14. Despite the early onset of mental health problems, evidence-based prevention and early intervention programs remain scarce. If left untreated, early-onset mental health problems can progress to become severe or chronic conditions, and incur significant medical and societal costs. The current project proposes an integrated screening and intervention model that was developed involving active youth, family and community engagement. This project, known as Inter-Venture, focuses on reducing barriers to youth mental health care and promoting early screening and intervention by fostering collaboration between school and community-based services providers. The Inter-Venture project is being conducted in the Montreal area (Canada), and consists of three intervention modalities. Namely, 1) systematic school-based screening and personality-targeted interventions for students most at risk of mental health problems and substance misuse (the Preventure program); 2) a parent program designed to strengthen parenting skills and to improve the management of child behavior problems (Cope/EQUIPE program); 3) integrated services provided by a multidisciplinary team of professionals (referred to as Inter-Action) for youth with significant symptoms of mental health problems, substance misuse and/or psychosocial difficulties. The intervention model involves knowledge transfer to boost capacity-building and improve the provision and sustainability of evidence-based interventions in community settings. The primary goal of the Inter-Venture trial is to assess the potential effect of the school-based targeted interventions and collaborative care in the prevention, early detection and reduction of mental health problems, substance misuse and psychosocial difficulties among young people. The secondary goal is to assess the effect of interventions on school performance and whether the interventions can protect cognitive functions that may be negatively affected by early-onset substance use and mental health problems, and promote cognitive development through the prevention of these difficulties.

NCT ID: NCT03086980 Recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

Automatic Self Transcending Meditation (ASTM) Versus Usual Care in Patients With Glaucoma

Start date: August 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients with glaucoma will be randomized to Automatic Self Transcending Meditation (ASTM) plus Treatment as Usual (TAU) or TAU alone to assess changes in Health-related quality of life (HRQoL). HRQoL is a vital construct focusing on impact of health on quality of life. HRQoL data is used in economic evaluations, a component of health economics that compares the cost and consequences of alternative courses of action. This helps policy-makers make complex financial decisions. Along with HRQoL we will measure changes in extent of depression as well as anxiety. Previously published data lacks information of HRQoL in patients with glaucoma. Through this study we shall attempt to correlate HRQoL in this population and assess if ASTM confers changes in HRQoL along with depressive and anxiety symptoms.
