Filter by:Exercise during chemotherapy (CT) is a promising strategy to reduce fatigue and improve health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Exercise may also have beneficial effects on tumor outcome by decreasing insulin resistance, inflammation, and by modulating various pro-tumoral signalling pathways. It has been shown to reduce mortality in breast and colorectal cancer adjuvant setting. This study aims to explore the effects of adapted physical activity (APA) in patients with resected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
The study investigates the safety and performance of Silimed® silicone gel breast implants with a textured surface and Silimed® silicone gel breast implants with polyurethane coated surface. Female patients who underwent primary or secondary breast augmentation using Silimed® breast implants will be followed-up through 10 years. The safety of each type of Silimed® breast implant is going to be assessed by estimating the known and unexpected short- and long-term risk / adverse event rates. The performance of each type of Silimed® breast implant is going to be assesses by estimating the satisfaction and quality of life after implantation.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect on QoL, PI and the AROM° in patients with non-specific chronic low back pain. This after following an episode of 6 weeks 2 times a week physiotherapeutic back rehabilitation according to the 4 times T method by orthopaedic disorder ® (4MTOR®). The results in this research will be analyzed and reported. In this study, 7 dependent variables will be independently examined relative to 2 independent variables.
Bone and joint infections (BJI) are rare serious pathology which can lead to a very heavy handicap and sometimes to the life threatening. These are devastating diseases whose diagnosis is difficult. They are known to be associated with high mortality rates (5%) and significant morbidities responsible for functional sequelae (40% of patients) with an individual cost (prolonged hospitalization, altered quality of life) and societal (work stoppage, partial or total disability, temporary or permanent) extremely high. These bone and joint infections have a significant impact on the quality of life of those affected who, in addition to their infection, are reduced in their autonomy and often need to be taken care of outside their home, sometimes away from home. To the knowledge of investigators, there are few studies on the measurement of quality of life in patients with osteoarticular infection. The aim of this study is to implement the EQ-5D-3L validated quality of life questionnaire and the EVA scale (created by EuroQol Group) for each patient with a prosthetic joint infection (IPA) on prosthesis during their medical care in the department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases.
Background: The transition to long-term care facility can be a stressful and emotional event for the elderly. The evidences showed that the prevalence of depression and the cognition impairment were higher in the institutionalized elderly than the community dwelling elderly. It could affect the quality of life of the elderly and increase risk of mortality. Purpose: The aim of the study is to evaluate the effect of outdoor activities and sunlight exposure on depression, cognitive function, and quality of life among institutionalized elderly. Method: The design is a randomized control trial. Participants will be randomly allocated to experimental or control groups by block randomization. In the experimental group, participants will be encouraged to reduce time spent on bed and bedroom. Nurses, nurse aids or family will take participants outdoors and exposure their face, hands or arm to sunlight for 15-30 minutes a day, five days a week for three months (if the UV index is over 8 according to the forecast of Center Weather Bureau, the participants will be asked to stay inside). In the control group, the participants will receive routine care. The control group will neither be encouraged to stay outdoors nor limit the chance to exposure to sunlight. Expected outcome: The expected benefit of the research is to improve the depression, cognitive function, and quality of life of the institutionalized elderly.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) involves poor prognosis in ICU patients. The renal prognosis at long term is unknown. The study will determine chronic kidney injury incidence and quality of life, five years after AK during ICU stay.
Prospective single arm, single center observational study to evaluate Quality of Life (Qol) after stereotactic body radiotherapy for patients with hepatocellular cancer. Patients will receive work-up, treatment and follow-up exclusively as routinely done except additional quality of life measurements. Qol will be measured by standardized and validated EORTC questionaires at different time points during routine follow-up.
This study aims to compare two different protocols commonly used in the management of post thyroidectomy hypoparathyroidism : PTH based calcium repletion and empiric repletion. The investigators aim to compare the quality of life associated with these two protocols in a randomized trial.
This study is a randomized clinical trial designed to compare an online social intelligence intervention with an active control condition at improving the emotional, physical, and social well-being of custodial grandmothers and their adolescent grandchildren,
In post-menopause women affected by breast cancer and treated with chemotherapy, overweight and obesity are considered both a risk factors as well as a negative prognostic factors since they increase the risk of early relapse and death. Furthermore, a decrease in weight may also occur during chemotherapy and is associated to a reduced quality of life and survival. Also, the majority of patients under chemotherapy refer dysgeusia, an alteration in taste that can determine food aversion, selection of hypercaloric food or reduced food introduction up to malnutrition. Our aim is to evaluate eating habits changes in patients affected by breast cancer and under chemotherapy treatment and to better understand how this alterations influence the quality of life, anxiety, depression and insomnia of patients as well as overall survival.
