Orem's Self-Care Deficit Theory Based Nursing Interventions for Immunotherapy Treated Cancer Patients

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effects of nursing interventions based on Orem Self-Care Deficiency Theory on symptom management, care needs and quality of life in cancer patients who underwent immunotherapy. Method: The research was planned as a randomized controlled trial. The research is planned to be carried out in the Medical Oncology unit of the Health Sciences University Antalya Training and Research Hospital. It is planned to be done with 58 patients, 29 experimental and 29 control groups. Based on Orem Self-Care Deficit Theory; face-to-face patient education, giving patient education booklet, preparation of symptom management card, face-to-face and telephone counseling initiatives were planned. Patient Description Form, Supportive Care Needs Scale-Short Form, Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale, European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Scale and Self-Care Strength Scale will be used to collect data.

The ongoing warfare and economic instability in the Middle East and in North Africa causes many people to leave their home countries. Arrived in a host countries, in this example, in Switzerland, they face a lot of structural and psychosocial hurdles. Particularly in the first years, building up a certain quality of life is complicated and challenging. To support this process, the Swiss Red Cross and the University of Bern have developed the Sui app. It contains structural and social information as well as low-intensity psychological tools to provide support to the everyday life of Arabic-speaking people in Switzerland.

Resilience and Obesity Prevention in Adolescents

This is a cross-sectional observational study where investigators are trying to see the associations between factors contributing to obesity (dietary behavior and physical activity), resilience (self-efficacy, self-esteem, and optimism), and HRQoL in Indian adolescents. The key research question and sub-questions are as follows: Main research question: Is there a relationship between resilience (measured as self-efficacy) and obesity in children? 1. What is the level of other resilience factors (measured as self-esteem and optimism) among overweight, obese, and normal-weight adolescents? Are there differences between the groups? Are there differences between ages? Are there differences between genders? 2. Is there a relationship between resilience factors (measured as self-esteem and optimism) and HRQoL among overweight, obese, and normal-weight adolescents? Are there differences between the groups? Are there differences between ages? Are there differences between genders? 3. Is low resilience (measured as self-esteem, self-efficacy, and optimism) associated with overweight or obesity among adolescents and a lower HRQoL? Are there differences between ages? Are there differences between genders? 4. What is the level of association between resilience (identified as self-esteem, self-efficacy, and optimism) and factors contributing to obesity (dietary habits - measured in terms of more frequent unhealthy eating, such as eating fast food, sugary beverages, more calories, and less frequent healthy habits, such as more junk foods for meals, less physical activity, higher BMI, or higher weight-for-age Z scores, more body fat percentage and psychosocial factors related to obesity: socio-economic status

Experiences and Health-related Quality of Life of Informal Caregivers of Dialysis Patients

The goal of this prospective, observational, multicentre cohort study is to assess the trajectory of the experiences (both positive and negative) and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of informal caregivers of patients who start home dialysis, and compare these to experiences and HRQOL of informal caregivers of patients who start in-centre hemodialysis. The investigators hypothesise that informal caregivers of home dialysis patients experience more positive experiences, but also more negative experiences, and still have better HRQoL, compared with caregivers of in-centre HD patients. Participants will fill in five different validated questionnaires and questions on required support. Participants are asked to fill in the questionnaires after inclusion (i.e., start of dialysis), and at 6 and 12 months after start dialysis.

Investigating KardioPAC Mobile App to Improve Physical Fitness Among Cardiac Rehabilitation Patients

The purpose of this study is to sustain regular physical activity, improve health-related quality of life, improve resting blood pressure, improve anthropometrics, and improve adherence to prescribed cardiac rehabilitation sessions among individuals referred for cardiac rehabilitation (CR). Numerous studies show that CR improves clinical outcomes in cardiovascular disease (CVD). Exercise as a reliable adjunctive intervention, however, remains limited due to poor short- and long-term adherence. This proposed study will examine the effectiveness of the Kura Care KardioPac digital application plus CR to significantly sustain exercise adherence among CR patients, as compared to standard of care alone.

The Effect of Mobile Application Game Training Designed for Children

The aim of this research is to examine the effect of mobile application game training designed for children aged 8-16 years on asthma management and quality of life. The population of the study will be children in the 8-12 age group who applied to the Mersin Pediatric Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Specialist's clinic, and the sample will consist of 78 children with asthma who meet the criteria for inclusion in the research. This age group has problems in solving abstract problems, it is necessary to embody it in order to facilitate the understanding of the disease process. Therefore, it is important to embody the training given in the increase of self-management related to the disease process of this age group. While determining the sample size of the study, Arıkan-Ayyıldız et al. (2016) based on the scientific study named "Efficacy of asthma education program on asthma control in children with uncontrolled asthma". In the Arıkan-Ayyıldız study, it was reported that the total mean score of "ACT" (Asthma Control Test-Asthma Control Test) was 13.8±3.4 in the experimental group and 15.6±3.2 in the control group. As a result of the Power analysis (G*Power 3.1.9.2) made according to these data; effect size = 0.78, with 95% confidence interval, 95% power, it was calculated that a total of 72 children with asthma, at least 36 in each group, should be included. Considering that there may be dropout and confounders during the research process, the number of groups was increased by 10%. The sample of the research; was a total of 78 children, including 39 children in each intervention group. In collecting research data; the Child and Parent Information Form, Inhaler Usage Skills Evaluation Form, Asthma Symptom and Treatment Need Scoring, DISABKIDS Asthma Scale will be used. A statistical package program (SPSS 20) will be used in the analysis of the research data. The statistical significance level was determined as 0.05. Kolmogorov-Smirnov will be used in the normality analysis of dependent variables. Chi-square and mean-to-means comparison tests will be used to determine the similarity of the groups. Appropriate parametric or non-parametric tests will be used according to the distribution's normality in comparing the means between groups and within groups.
