NCT ID: NCT05669560 Withdrawn - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Hydrogen Peroxide Gel on Periodontitis With Diabetes

Peroxide gel
Start date: January 20, 2023
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease characterized by loss of tooth supporting periodontal structures and alveolar bone. In the U.S. and worldwide, periodontitis is the major cause of tooth loss in adults. Type 2 Diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a complex disease that affects 13-15 million Americans and is associated with a variety of serious complications. T2DM is well established as a strong systemic risk factor for periodontitis. The severity and prevalence of periodontitis is much higher in patients with diabetes. This relationship may be bi-directional.

NCT ID: NCT05646459 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Periodontitis, Adult

Effect of Local Cannabidiol on Clinical and Inflammatory Outcomes in Periodontal Maintenance Patients.

Start date: June 2019
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study will determine if cannabidiol (CBD) has any effect on local inflammation in periodontal maintenance patients. Many successful therapies exist for the active, untreated periodontal patient. Unfortunately, periodontology has not yet discovered a therapy that will predictably treat local inflammation in patients who are at risk for further pocketing, bleeding on probing, bone loss and ultimately, tooth loss. Although CBD has been patented in various forms since the 1940s, its acceptance and availability to patients has only recently expanded. Marketing of CBD to periodontal patients as a means to control inflammation is commonplace online and in CBD-specific shops. In determining if CBD is a successful supplement to conventional periodontal inflammation control therapies, millions of patients could benefit from this treatment.

NCT ID: NCT04978324 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Periodontitis Chronic Generalized Severe

Scaling and Root Planning With Localized Delivery of Autogenous Growth Factors- Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Start date: May 2022
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this research study is to find out about the effect of growth factors extracted from blood on improving healing of periodontal pockets (Gum pockets) after deep gum cleaning.

NCT ID: NCT04670133 Withdrawn - Periodontitis Clinical Trials

Inulin Supplementation During Sanative Therapy to Further Improve Periodontal Healing

Start date: January 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of daily supplementation with inulin before, during and after sanative therapy (ST), on clinical outcomes of periodontal disease. The study design will allow the investigators to conclude if supplementation with inulin can favourably modulate oral microbiota prior to ST and can result in better periodontal health after ST.

NCT ID: NCT04105985 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Apical Periodontitis

Kovanaze Vs. Articaine in Achieving Pulpal Anesthesia of Maxillary Teeth - Endodontics

Start date: August 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary goal of the study is to compare the success rates of pulpal anesthesia (defined as ability to complete the intended dental procedure without the need for rescue anesthesia) between Kovanaze nasal mist and Articaine needle anesthesia.

NCT ID: NCT04104789 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Apical Periodontitis

Kovanaze Vs. Articaine in Achieving Pulpal Anesthesia of Maxillary Teeth - General

Start date: September 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary goal of the study is to compare the success rates of pulpal anesthesia (defined as ability to complete the intended dental procedure without the need for rescue anesthesia) between Kovanaze nasal mist and Articaine needle anesthesia.

NCT ID: NCT04051866 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

Effectiveness of Non-surgical Periodontal Treatment on HbA1c Levels in a Patient With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Start date: December 2, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the effectiveness of an intervention, non-surgical periodontal treatment (SPR), in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus and moderate-severe periodontal disease aimed at reducing HbA1c levels at 12 months compared with the usual practice in Primary Health Care.

NCT ID: NCT03176537 Withdrawn - Periodontitis Clinical Trials

Periodontal Profile of Hypogonadic Men

Start date: May 1, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to assess if hypogonadic men with periodontitis benefit from testosterone replacement therapy before being submitted to periodontal treatment. Fifty hypogonadic men (Total Testosterone <200ng/dL) will be recruited from the Clinics Hospital at Federal University of Paraná and subjected to periodontal evaluation by a trained and calibrated researcher. The subjects presenting with periodontitis (assessed by clinical parameters) will be randomly allocated to "testosterone replacement therapy" (TRT) group or "placebo" for 3 months. After that time, all patients will receive nonsurgical periodontal treatment, which will be reassessed after 45 days. Clinical parameters (such as probing depth, gingival and plaque index, clinical attachment loss, bleeding on probing), sub gingival plaque and gingival crevicular fluid will be collected at baseline, just before therapy and 45 days after therapy.

NCT ID: NCT02520375 Withdrawn - Periodontitis Clinical Trials

Effects of Prebiotic Oral Healthcare Products as an Adjunct to Non-surgical Periodontal Therapy

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to determine the impact of a prebiotic toothpaste and mouthrinse in periodontitis patients as an adjunct to scaling and rootplaning.
