Filter by:This clinical trial determines how well the oncpatient mobile application work in assisting patients undergoing radiation treatment. Radiation therapy can be complex. The technology, daily treatments, and possible side effects can be confusing to prevent and manage. Traditional radiation patient education includes a large amount of information, including details of treatment logistics, side effect prevention, and management. However, this information is not always readily accessible or memorable through the long course of therapy, and critical details can be missed. Oncpatient is a mobile application intended to be a more convenient and accessible form of patient education and guidance that is readily available to help patients and their caretakers navigate through radiation treatment.
Persistent post-concussive symptoms (PPCS) are a source of significant burden among a subset of patients with concussion with prevalence rates previously reported between 11 - 82% based on timing of assessment, diagnostic criteria, or population under study. Examples of persistent post-concussion symptoms include balance problems, headaches, fatigue, poor concentration, forgetfulness, anxiety, irritability, and sleep disturbance. Few proposed therapies have proved successful in the management of persistent post-concussion symptoms following mild traumatic brain injury. The investigators will explore hyperbaric oxygen administered in a randomized sham-controlled clinical trial as an effective and tolerable treatment in improving neuropsychological status among adult patients with persistent post-concussive symptoms. The overall hypothesis to be evaluated is that hyperbaric oxygen improves neuropsychological status and a serum concussion biomarker associated with PPCS.
This study has 3 objectives: (1) demonstrate the effectiveness of balance training for people with COPD, (2) determine which patients with COPD respond best to balance training, and (3) calculate clinically meaningful changes in balance for patients with COPD.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety (including evaluating side effects) of combination of olaparib and abiraterone versus placebo and abiraterone in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) who have received no prior cytotoxic chemotherapy or new hormonal agents (NHAs) at metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) stage.
Antimicrobial resistance is a global health emergency estimated to be responsible for 700,000 deaths per year worldwide, and it is well known that previous antibiotic exposure is the single most contributing factor. For example, the use of non-antipseudomonal agents can increase risk for any P. aeruginosa strain; however, the use of an agent with antipseudomonal activity would select for resistance to that particular antimicrobial agent or class. Demonstrated that each additional day of exposure to any antipseudomonal beta-lactam is associated with an increased risk of new resistance development. The study seeks to determine whether the choice of empiric therapy (i.e., the same agent versus a different agent from prior antibiotic exposure) has any effect on the likelihood of in vitro activity against GN pathogens (GNPs) in a subsequent infection.
A phase 3, open-label, single-arm, prospective, multi-center trial of Cytotect CP Biotest (BT097) for prevention of maternal-fetal CMV transmission after primary maternal CMV infection. The main purpose of the trial is to demonstrate efficacy and safety of Cytotect CP Biotest in preventing maternal-fetal transmission of cytomegalovirus (CMV).
The primary objective of the present research is to determine the effectiveness of Family Health Center of San Diego's Long COVID and Fatiguing Illness Recovery Program (LC&FIRP) on clinician- and patient-level outcomes. LC&FIRP is comprised of a teleECHO program focused on multi-specialty case-consultation and peer-to-peer sharing of emerging best practices to support management of complex cases associated with Long COVID, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), and other post-infectious fatiguing illnesses (PIFI). Our secondary objective is to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and sustainability of LC&FIRP. Our findings should provide a fuller understanding of the potential impact of innovative technology enabled multi-disciplinary team-based care models in low-resource, community-based primary care settings.
Chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure (CHRF) in the context of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome (OHS) is associated with increased mortality. The availability and effectiveness of domiciliary Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) treatment (when indicated) is key as this treatment can improve quality of life and reduce health-care costs from associated burden of disease. The emerging obesity epidemic means that there is now increased home mechanical ventilation set-ups in patients with obesity related respiratory failure (ORRF), yet there are no alternative treatments for patients struggling with domiciliary NIV. Domiciliary NHF has been shown to improve health related quality of life in stable CHRF in patients with COPD and improve cost effectiveness yet there are no current studies looking at the use of domiciliary NHF and its outcomes in ORRF. The study aims to deliver a pre and post intervention study evaluating patient reported and clinical outcomes in patients using NHF over twelve weeks, who have either COPD or OHS and have been unable to use domiciliary NIV. The study wishes to address key outcomes such as quality of life, clinical effectiveness, compliance and acceptability with the use of domiciliary NHF in both of these patient populations.
The aim of this proposal is to investigate a novel imaging method to identify patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) who are at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
This is a single-arm, prospective, non-randomized, single-center, open label clinical study for evaluating the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant pyrotinib combined with epirubicin and cyclophosphamide followed by docetaxel in HR positive and HER2-low-expressing early or locally advanced breast cancer.
