Filter by:For many patients with hematologic disorders and bone marrow failure, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) or cellular therapy (CART) offers a curative treatment option. Patients after SCT or CART have a variable period of immune deficiency in the post-treatment period. The response to vaccination may affect the outcome of the transplant patients. the immunogenicity of vaccines in this immunosuppressed population is uncertain and variable. HSCT and CAR-T recipients are in a COVID-19 high-risk group and conferring immunity by vaccination at the earliest effective timepoint is desirable. At present, the immunogenicity and efficacy of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in immune-impaired patients including autologous and allogeneic HSCT recipients is unknown. Furthermore, the impact of GvHD and IST on SARS-CoV-2 vaccine immunogenicity is unknown. the investigators aim to evaluate the vaccination response to COVID vaccines after SCT and CART
The purpose of this randomized, controlled feasibility investigation is to characterize pharmacologically induced ventilatory depression after anesthesia and examine how is affected by the amount of supplemental oxygen patients are receiving in the immediate postoperative period.
Blindness can be caused by many ocular diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, age-related macular degeneration, pathologic myopia and glaucoma. Without timely diagnosis and adequate medical intervention, the visual impairment can become a great burden on individuals as well as the society. It is estimated that China has 110 million patients under the attack of diabetes, 180 million patients with hypertension, 120 million patients suffering from high myopia and 200 million people over 60 years old, which suggest a huge population at the risk of blindness. Despite of this crisis in public health, our society has no more than 3,000 ophthalmologists majoring in fundus oculi disease currently. As most of them assembling in metropolitan cities, health system in this field is frail in primary hospitals. Owing to this unreasonable distribution of medical resources, providing medical service to hundreds of millions of potential patients threatened with blindness is almost impossible. To solve this problem, this software (MCS) was developed as a computer-aided diagnosis to help junior ophthalmologists to detect 13 major retina diseases from color fundus photographs. This study has been designed to validate the safety and efficiency of this device.
In laparoscopic cholecystectomy method, Insufflation of CO2 in abdominal cavity causes positioning of the diaphragm upwards, a decrease in lung's volume and its compliance, an increase in the airway resistance, mismatch between the atelectasis and the ventilation perfusion. Although there are numerous studies in laparoscopic surgery, only a few of them investigate the effects of laparoscopic surgery on the cardiopulmonary and the respiratory mechanics. The investigator aimed To examine the effects of pressure-controlled and volume-controlled ventilation modes on cerebral oximetry and blood gases in laparoscopic cholecystectomy operations.
Background. Dyspeptic patients tolerate smaller meal loads than healthy subjects, but it is not known whether and to what extent symptoms relate to abnormal homeostatic or hedonic components of perception. Methods. Parallel studies in patients with symptoms induced by meals (fulfilling Rome IV criteria of postprandial dyspepsia) and sex- and age-matched healthy subjects. Participants will be instructed to eat a standard dinner the day before, to consume a standard breakfast at home after overnight fast, and to report to the laboratory, where the test meal will be administered 4 h after breakfast. Studies will be conducted in a quiet, isolated room with participants sitting on a chair. Participants will ingest a probe meal up to the level of maximal satiation. The probe meal will be served stepwise (112 Kcal every 5 min). Perception of homeostatic (hunger/satiation, fullness) and hedonic (digestive well-being, mood) sensations will be measured at 5 min intervals 10 min before, during and 20 min after ingestion at 10 min intervals.
Trastuzumab is approved for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer and gastric cancer. The recent study showed that HER2 overexpression or amplification is noted about 5-15% of total biliary tract cancer patients and have shown efficacy in small basket trials. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of trastuzumab in the combination of mFOLFOX for gemcitabine+cisplatin refractory biliary tract cancer patients.
We aimed to decrease in the number of chest X-rays in newborns with respiratory distress, with the use of lung ultrasonography. From January 2019 to June 2020, 104 newborn infants with respiratory distress enrolled in this study. We used bed side ultrasound as the first line tecnique for lung imaging. X-ray were taken in cases with increasing respiratory distress in spite of treatment according to diagnosis depending on USG findings. We calculated decreased number of chest X-ray for every patient and evaluated the estimated decrease in radiation exposure.
The purpose of this prospective study is to determine if trial use of a Dexcom G6 CGM system for a 10 day wear period in pediatric Type 2 diabetes patients improves short term time in range glucose control and 3-6 month glycemic control.
Collection of relevant data form patients who were treated in the Ghent University Hospital in the context of a placental remnant lager than 4 cm, performing statistical analyzes on the collected data, reviewing the literature on the subject and formulation of a recommendation for treatment of these large placental remnants.
This Lucira COVID-19 All-In-One Test Kit performance study will be used to establish the performance of the Lucira COVID-19 All-In-One Test Kit as compared to a known high sensitivity RT-PCR molecular assay. The results of this study will be used to demonstrate the Lucira COVID-19 'swab to result in 30 minutes' test kit is similar in performance to known high sensitivity best-in-class molecular assays performed in high complexity labs. The results of this study will be combined with other studies the Sponsor has underway and will support a FDA Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the Lucira COVID-19 All-In-One Test Kit. This performance study will include nasal swabs self-collected by study subjects at community-based locations with trained medical staff. A subject's participation in this study will consist of one study visit and one collection event. The subject self-collects a nasal swab sample according to Lucira COVID-19 Test Kit instructions and runs test according to Quick Reference Instructions (QRI). Following the Lucira COVID-19 All-In-One Test Kit self-collection will be an additional swab collection for reference method testing. One (1) additional NS specimen will be collected either by the health care professional or self-collection, prepared in Transport Medium and sent to a reference laboratory.
