NCT ID: NCT04866745 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Magnetotherapy Versus Microwave Combined With Exercise for Knee Osteoarthritis.

MT-MW-EX
Start date: June 10, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The high prevalence of knee osteoarthritis and the absence of well-defined protocols for the application of Magnetotherapy (MT), makes it necessary to investigate the effect of this therapy on patients with knee osteoarthritis. Furthermore, no studies are comparing the effectiveness of the two interventions proposed in this project (MT) and microwaves (MW), which are routinely applied in clinical practice, without solid scientific evidence to justify their use. The purpose of the present clinical trial is to compare MT with MW both combined with a therapeutic exercise program in patients with painful knee osteoarthritis and its influence on pain and function.

NCT ID: NCT04865692 Completed - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis, Knee

Effects of Low Intensity Blood Flow Restriction on Clinical Outcomes in Women With Knee Osteoarthritis

BFR
Start date: February 15, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Objective is to compare the effects of routine physical therapy with and without low intensity blood flow restriction on pain and quadriceps muscle strength in women with knee osteoarthritis. A single blinded randomized controlled trial conducted at Department of Physiotherapy, University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, Defense Road, Lahore. Total 60 participants were randomly assigned in to two groups, with 30 in each group The intervention group received routine physiotherapy program combined with Low Intensity Blood Flow Restriction Technique (LI-BFR. While control group were treated with only routine physiotherapy. Dynamometer was used to assess the knee extensor strength while Knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score was used to record any exacerbation in pain and effects of BFR on activities of daily living. Training load determined 20% of 1RM. Data analysis had done on SPSS version 23.

NCT ID: NCT04852380 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections For Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: January 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

It was conducted a prospective study with a series of 153 patients treated with PRP injections in patient affected by knee osteoarthritis. One independent observer performed clinical and functional evaluations at T0 (recruitment), T1 (one month after the injection), T2 (three months after the last injection) and T3 (six months after the last injection). The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), the Knee Score Society (KSS) score and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were evaluated and recorded for each patient at each follow up.

NCT ID: NCT04836988 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Face to Face or Digitally Delivered First-line Osteoarthritis Treatment?

Start date: March 6, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

This study will compare outcomes of two different delivery methods (Face-to-face and digitally) of first-line treatment for hip and knee osteoarthritis.

NCT ID: NCT04830748 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Effect of Mechanical Traction and Therapeutic Exercises in Treatment of Primary Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: May 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare between therapeutic exercises and therapeutic exercises preceded by mechanical traction in treatment of patients with primary knee osteoarthritis attributed to the outcomes of pain, muscle strength, functional disability and functional performance. Hypotheses 1. There will be no significant difference between therapeutic exercises and therapeutic exercises preceded by mechanical traction on reduction of knee pain severity in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis. 2. There will be no significant difference between therapeutic exercises and therapeutic exercises preceded by mechanical traction on reduction of functional disability in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis. 3. There will be no significant difference between therapeutic exercises and therapeutic exercises preceded by mechanical traction on increasing isometric quadriceps muscle strength in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis. 4. There will be no significant difference between therapeutic exercises and therapeutic exercises preceded by mechanical traction on increasing isometric hamstring muscle strength in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis. 5. There will be no significant difference between therapeutic exercises and therapeutic exercises preceded by mechanical traction on decreasing walking time in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis. 6. There will be no significant difference between therapeutic exercises and therapeutic exercises preceded by mechanical traction on decreasing ascending and descending stairs time in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis.

NCT ID: NCT04828252 Completed - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis, Knee

Low Level Laser Intervention for Individuals With Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: November 9, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to investigate the intervention effects of low level laser for knee OA group

NCT ID: NCT04828200 Completed - Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

The Presence Of Sarcopenia In Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis

Start date: April 10, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common joint disorders worldwide . The knee is the most common symptomatic joint in osteoarthritis. In this study, we evaluated the presence of sarcopenia multidimensionally in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) using clinical, ultrasonographic and biochemical parameters, and in this respect, it was aimed to investigate the relation between OA and sarcopenia and to identify the most practical, easily accessible and inexpensive method for investigating sarcopenia.

NCT ID: NCT04825483 Completed - Clinical trials for Overweight and Obesity

Effects of a Weight Loss Program in People With Hip Osteoarthritis

ECHO
Start date: June 16, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This randomised controlled trial will compare the effects of a weight loss and exercise program to exercise only on clinical outcomes in 100 people with hip osteoarthritis (OA) and overweight or obesity. The primary aim is to find out whether a weight loss and exercise program will improve hip pain more than an exercise program alone at 6 months follow-up

NCT ID: NCT04820231 Completed - Hip Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Platelet-Rich Plasma and Hip Osteoarthritis

Start date: January 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection on pain, function and quality of life in patients with hip osteoarthritis.

NCT ID: NCT04819139 Completed - Pain, Chronic Clinical Trials

Position Sense, Force Control and Pain Intensity in Basal Thumb Osteoarthritis

Start date: April 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In practice, a single test is used to quantify thumb proprioception. Previous studies have found a decrease in joint position sense (JPS) and force sense (FS) in patients diagnosis of thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis, but no correlation have been stabilize between JPS, FS and pain intensity perceived by the patient during activity daily life (ADL). The goal of the study is compared joint position error (JPE) with joint force sense error (JFSE) in subjects with carpometacarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis and investigated a possible correlation between thumb pain intensity and thumb proprioception in patients with CMC joint OA.
