View clinical trials related to Liver Cirrhosis.
Filter by:Nutritional status in patients with cirrhosis has been shown to have a direct influence on the prognosis of these patients, it is related to higher mortality and it has been linked to the developement and perpetuation of certain complications such as hepatic encephalopathy, ascites and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. Despite the importance of nutritional status in this patients, most of the methods for its assessment are still not completely reliable or not easily accessible; therefore, evaluating nutritional status in the daily clinical practice is still a complex task.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of non betablockers in gastrointestinal motility (transit time) in patients with liver cirrhosis.
Noninvasive monitoring of liver fibrosis is an unmet need within the clinical management of pediatric chronic liver disease. While liver biopsy is often used in the initial diagnostic evaluation, subsequent biopsies are rarely performed because of inherent invasiveness and risks. This study will evaluate the role of non-invasive FibroScan™ technology to detect and quantify liver fibrosis.
Retrospective study of all patients diagnosed with primary biliary cholangitis during January 2001 to July 2016 at West China Hospital by review of medical records. The following variables will be retrospectively studied: age, sex, first symptoms, clinical characteristics, pathology, treatment, stage, complications of cirrhosis, other autoimmune diseases and long-term outcome.
Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) has been the only treatment for PBC approved by US and European drug administrations. Long-term use of UDCA (13—15 mg/kg/day) in patients with PBC improves serum liver biochemistries and survival free of liver transplantation. However, about 40% of patients do not respond to UDCA optimally as assessed by known criteria for biochemical response. Those patients represent the group in need for additional therapies, having increased risk of disease progression and decreased survival free of liver transplantation. And UDCA has less effect on PBC patients whose pathology stage 3-4. Liver fibrosis might jeopardize the UDCA effect. Fuzhenghuayu is a Chinese traditional medicine for liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. Both lab research and some clinical studies suggest that Fuzhenghuayu could significantly reverse liver fibrosis and cirrhosis due to different kind of etiology. Here the investigators start a random, open and parallel clinical research to explore the effect of Fuzhenghuayu combined with UDCA in the PBC treatment.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of spironolactone on liver fibrosis progression and portal pressure gradient in patients with advanced chronic liver disease. Eligible cirrhosis patients were 2:1 randomized to either combination (carvedilol and spironolactone) or single (carvedilol) therapy group. Changes in virtual portal pressure gradient (vPPG) of portal trunk (calculated based on reconstructed 3D model and measured blood flow velocity), liver stiffness measurement (Fibroscan) and serum markers of liver fibrogenesis were documented at baseline and six months later.
Liver cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death among Asian men. If diagnosed early the disease is treatable with surgery. Current conventional imaging modalities have limitations to early detection. This study proposes to use 18F-FGal and 18F-FDG PET/CT scans to compare the clinical efficacy of diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer) using these PET/CT scans.
The overarching purpose of this study is to further understand the reasons for and clinical implications of persistent HBV infection in patients co-infected with HIV and HBV in the era of highly effective antiviral treatment against both viruses.
The study will be conducted in the Department of Hepatology, Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences, New Delhi. As a part of this study history will be taken and clinical examination will be done. Subjects will be screened for diagnosis of NASH (Non Alcoholic Steatohepatitis) cirrhosis. If subjects are found to have NASH (Non Alcoholic Steatohepatitis) cirrhosis, they will be chosen to receive stool from healthy donor, which is voluntarily donated by a healthy donor related or unrelated to the subjects and the stool will be prepared using standard guidelines. The prepared sample of stool, about 50 ml will be instilled into proximal small intestine by way of a thin and soft tube inserted through nose. This administration of sample, 50 ml daily will occur once a month every month for 6 months. The liver function parameters will be assessed and thereafter at 1 month and 3 months & subjects will be clinically assessed for improvement or worsening.
A study on regression of liver fibrosis assessed by transient elastography after Daclatasvir and Asunaprevir combined treatment in advanced fibrotic/cirrhotic patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1b Infection
