The investigators are trying to investigate metabolism of lactate sourced from IV Hartmann's solution in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) compared with a control group(donation for liver transplantation) with normal liver function. Second purpose of this study is finding the predictive factor of changing metabolism of lactate sourced from IV Hartmann's solution in patients with HCC.

The main purpose of this study is to collect the safety data of Sumitomo Heavy Industries' proton therapy equipment for the treatment of solid cancer patients in Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, including the patients' early-stage adverse reactions and the efficacy on tumors, as well as to assess the operating functionality of the proton therapy system.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of the investigational anticancer drug DCR-MYC. DCR-MYC is a novel synthetic double-stranded RNA in a stable lipid particle suspension that targets the oncogene MYC. MYC oncogene activation is important to the growth of many hematologic and solid tumor malignancies. In this study the Sponsor proposes to study DCR-MYC and its ability to inhibit MYC and thereby inhibit cancer cell growth.
This study is a phase II, prospective, open-label, single arm, single center study of the efficacy and safety of concurrent conventional transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and sorafenib in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and extrahepatic metastasis. All of the 55 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and newly diagnosed extrahepatic (lung, bone, lymph node, adrenal gland) metastasis will be included. On demand conventional TACE will be performed in all the patients after enrollment and can be continued until intrahepatic CR, TACE failure or consent withdrawal. Sorafenib will be started 3-7 days after the first and each subsequent TACE and stopped one day before next TACE and will be continued until sorafenib failure, consent withdrawal or condition worsening by clinical decision. Repeated on-demand TACE and sorafenib should continue until the criteria for treatment discontinuation are met. After initiation of sorafenib combination treatment, patients will be seen and will perform routine examination at week 4 and, after then routine examination will be followed every 6 ± 2 weeks.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of ten leading cancer types worldwide and also in Asia, but the five-year relative survival rate is relatively quite low1-3. As a common complication of HCC, portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) have been reported with an occurrence of 34% ~ 50% in advanced HCC and it is now become an extremely pressing problem for hepatic surgeon. Nevertheless, the patients overall survival (OS) varies on their clinical features or liver function4. For HCC PVTT treatment, current options are surgical resection, embolization chemotherapy, radiation therapy, a variety of ablation therapy, biological and gene therapy,etc. Among them, the use of radiation therapy is getting more and more attention, and it is changing from the past palliative treatment to current curable treatment. From an oncologic point of view, a narrow margin <1 cm is not safe and is often associated with higher rates of recurrence and shorter patient survival.On the other hand, it is also believed that most intrahepatic recurrences arise from multicentric carcinogenesis and are distant from the resection margin.To address this issue, the investigators are going to conduct a series of retrospective and prospective studies to investigate the effect of adjuvant RT for centrally located HCC after narrow margin (<1 cm) hepatectomy on tumor recurrence.
