Filter by:Behavioral disorders and emotional disorders represent frequent reasons for consultation in young children. Their prevalence is between 7% and 13% depending on the studies. Behavioral disorders, and to a lesser extent emotional disorders, tend to persist through childhood and adolescence and are a risk factor for disorders in adulthood. There is still little research on psychotherapies concerning children and even less on parent(s)-young child therapies, despite a certain interest of clinicians for these. In a previous study, three independent factors appeared predictive of the unfavorable child's outcome : the frequency and intensity of behavioral problems and fears, as well as the absence of the father at more than 2/3 of the consultations. The only independent factor associated with the outcome of the mother was her anxiety score at the start of treatment. The study presented here will take these elements into account and will include an assessment of both parents. The main objective is to identify predictive factors of behavioural and emotional disorder outcome in children aged 18 months to 48 months after parent-child psychotherapy. The secondary objectives are to study predictive factors of the outcome in parents (anxiety/depression symptoms) and parent-child relationship. The main predictive factors will be the presence of the father at the consultations, the therapeutic alliance (subject to validation), the type of disorder of the child and the parental psychopathology.
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in increased workload and concerns about personal and family safety for frontline healthcare workers (HCWs), which can lead to decreased well-being and worsening mental health. Sleep disruption is particularly prevalent among HCWs providing frontline COVID-19 care. It can have direct consequences on their cognitive and emotional functioning, as well as on patient safety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBTi) is a first-line treatment for insomnia. It has been shown to improve sleep health and wellbeing in the general population. However, there are significant barriers to delivering CBTi to frontline HCWs, including limited availability of trained sleep therapists and high costs. To address this, a Canada-wide randomized controlled trial is developed to determine the effectiveness of a digital CBTi program on the sleep health, mental health, wellness, and overall quality of life of frontline HCWs caring for COVID-19 patients. This study may provide an easily accessible and scalable sleep health intervention that can be included as part of a national and global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The primary aim of this project is to test if OCOsense glasses can function as a digital phenotyping tool derived from behavioural and physiological signals related to facial expression and motion recorded using the glasses.
For diagnosis of external and middle ear diseases, an otoscope is a key instrument to use. A microscope has been used as a reference standard to confirm pathology. An endoscope has been also widely used. Both microscope and endoscope provide an excellent image quality, can record and capture the images, and the images can be visualized with an export system. A digital otoscope is widely available and more affordable. A comparative study of the efficacy of the endoscope and the digital endoscope will be performed.

This study aims to evaluate the sensory processing processes of elderly adults who have undergone fall-related hip fracture surgery in the last 6 months, according to different patterns, and to examine the relationship between physical performance, fall risk, fear of falling, and depression parameters that may be related to sensory processing.
This study has two purposes: Aim 1: To develop a Telehealth Early Intervention Program (TEIP) for children with ASD that will be carried out by parents at home when interact with their children; and to train parents in delivering developmental and behavioral techniques to their children. The participating families will be randomized in parallel to treatment and comparison groups for teaching the knowledge and techniques: (1) Treatment group: providing the training of TEIP for parents via telehealth modalities as they learn critical skills with their child with the goal of increasing multidimensional child developments. Intervention provider will provide the training for parent-child dyad interaction to work with parents to implement these strategies at home environment; and (2) Comparison group: provide general care consultation of child development for parents. Aim 2: To evaluate this program's effectiveness by measuring changes in a child's developments and behaviors. Investigator will evaluate child outcomes on the symptoms of ASD and multidimensional developmental functioning. Furthermore, investigator will measure the changes in the parent's knowledge and behaviors of parent-child interaction. Moreover, investigator will determine if parental participation in the intervention is associated with an improvement in parenting competences and decreased levels of stress.
This research will be carried out to determine the effects of technology-based cognitive and artistic therapeutic activities on the mental state of children receiving cancer treatment. The research will be conducted in a single-blind parallel group randomized controlled trial design. A program consisting of six two-week sessions will be implemented. The program will include many artistic activities such as therapeutic and drawing.
This research will be carried out to determine the effect of the relaxation program applied to the caregivers of children followed by the diagnosis of cancer on the levels of caregivers' anxiety and coping with stress. The research will be conducted in a single-blind parallel-group randomized controlled trial design. A relaxation program including progressive muscle relaxation exercises will be applied to caregivers. The application will be carried out by sending muscle relaxation videos and videos for relaxation to mothers. The relaxation program is planned to last approximately 6 weeks
