Filter by:This research is being done to compare two different methods of wound monitoring for chronic wounds: remote wound monitoring using a smartphone app and in-person wound monitoring in a clinic setting. This will be a pilot non-blinded randomized controlled feasibility trial. The investigators will enroll 120 patients with an active diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) who present to the multidisciplinary diabetic foot clinic in Baltimore, Maryland. Patients will be computer randomized 1:1 to receive wound care monitoring using remote DFU monitoring technology or standard in-person monitoring for 12 weeks.
Investigators are building an empirical evidence base for real world data through large-scale replication of randomized controlled trials. The investigators' goal is to understand for what types of clinical questions real world data analyses can be conducted with confidence and how to implement such studies.
In Tunisia, diabetes is a serious public health problem, its prevalence reaches 22.9% of people aged 18 and over and is likely to affect a quarter of the population by 2045. Diabetic kidney disease is the most common and severe complication of diabetes. It is both a major cause of end-stage renal disease and a risk factor for mortality and cardiovascular morbidity, thus becoming an additional public health concern. Early diagnosis of diabetic kidney disease makes it possible to manage patients more effectively and in a multidisciplinary way, to delay its progression to chronic renal failure.
Despite the benefits of physical rehabilitation among adults and children with chronic illness such as Diabetes mellitus avoid engaging in different physical activities especially pediatric population. Most of the children with type 1 Diabetes mellitus receive their medical treatment and follow-up with no change of their functional performance.
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of sleeve gastrectomy combined with pancreas after kidney (PAK) transplantation as a means of achieving normoglycemia, insulin independence, reduced insulin resistance, and kidney graft function preservation in the T2DM population. in the first year post pancreas after kidney transplant. Safety and efficacy data will be collected from the time of enrollment until participants reach 1 year post PAK transplant. Data will be compared to historical data from TGH's renal and pancreas transplant programs.
Type 1 diabetes mellitus is the most common chronic metabolic disorder in children. Diabetic children who take proper nutrition and good care attain normal growth status. Factors affecting growth in diabetic patients include gender, age at diagnosis, duration of disease, glycemic control, and puberty status. Moreover, diabetes mellitus has negative impact on vestibular system, affect proprioception and lower limb muscle fatigue resulting in reduced balance.
The overarching goal of this project is to leverage health information technology (HIT) to integrate available digital information on social needs to improve care for racial and ethnic minorities and socially disadvantaged populations with chronic diseases. In the previous phases of this project the investigators developed a social risk score to identify social needs among medically under-served patients with special emphasis on application among African American patients with low income and chronic diseases who face social determinants, risk factors, and needs (SDRN) challenges. The investigators also developed a clinical decision support (CDS) tool to present the social risk score to clinical providers and sought feedback from different users on the face and content validity of the CDS tool. In the current project the investigators will run a randomized clinical trial (RCT) study to pilot test the new risk score and CDS tool in selected primary care clinics at Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) and in collaboration with selected community-based organizations (CBOs). This system will help identify, manage, and refer patients with both high levels of disease burden and modifiable SDRN challenges.
The project (PlanPerioMed) is a register-based study evaluating the associations and patterns of health care delivery between periodontitis and medical diseases using data from the Danish dental record system Dentalsuite (Plandent A/S) and national Danish health care registries with three overall hypotheses/ aims: - Determine the extent to which periodontitis in registry data is associated with more odontological treatment services and treatment frequency. - Determine if patients with systemic diseases attend dentists more frequently and receive more treatment services per patient than the population without these diseases. - Determine to which extent periodontitis and received periodontal treatment affects the risk of medical diseases. The study will focus on association and trajectories of periodontitis and its treatment with three medical diseases, namely, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (Type 2 DM), Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). The dataset consists of approximately 4,000,000 people aged between 18 and 99 years attending private practice in Denmark. The results from PlanPerioMed study are likely to have ramifications for treatment guidelines for other periodontitis comorbidities, e.g. CVD and DM, and will thereby improve the quality of life for a wide range of patients and reduce long-term societal health care expenses related to periodontitis and its comorbidities.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the safety and performance of the MiniMedâ„¢ 780G system in pediatric subjects (2-6 years old) with type 1 diabetes in a home setting. The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and performance of the MiniMedâ„¢ 780G system in Auto Mode firstly in comparison to the MiniMedâ„¢ 780G system in Manual Mode with Suspend before low activated (currently available standard therapy) and secondly in comparison to the new MiniMedâ„¢ 780G BLE 2.0 system with DS5 sensor in Auto Mode among pediatric population (2-6 years old).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety and efficacy of ATB-1011 and ATB-1012 co-administration in patients with essential hypertension and type II diabetes mellitus
