Bone Turnover in Type 2 Diabetes and Non-diabetes Controls (DiaMarv)

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is related to an increased risk of major fractures which does written in English. The summary is used not only increase society health care costs, but also increase the morbidity and in the recruitment of peer reviewers.: mortality for patients with T2D. Traditional fracture predictors underestimate the risk in T2D. Thus, the bone affection is not caused by decreased bone mineral density but rather by impaired bone quality leading to fragile bone. In diabetes, circulating bone turnover markers are suppressed and advanced glycation endproducts may accumulate in the tissue. The study aims at exploring whether bone turnover in T2D is compromised in the circulation, bone marrow, and bone tissue and whether advanced glycation endproducts accumulate in these tissues. Furthermore, the investigators will assess whether bone turnover markers predict fractures in a cohort of individuals with diabetes. The project will contribute to the knowledge on bone disease in T2D and will ultimately benefit the patients by improving future fracture prevention strategies.

ACT-DE for Diabetes Distress and HbA1c in Adults With Type 2 Diabetes

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of a structured acceptance-based diabetes education programme for adults with type 2 diabetes compared with those who received diabetes education. The programme mainly comprises acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as a psychological component and a diabetes education (DE) component. The short form of the programme is named 'ACT-DE'. This programme aims to decrease the diabetes distress level in participants with type 2 diabetes and improve their blood glucose level. The objectives are: 1. To develop an ACT-based intervention protocol as a guide for promoting healthy coping in people with type 2 diabetes who are psychologically distressed. 2. To examine the effects of 'ACT-DE' on diabetes distress and HbA1c (primary outcomes) over a three-month follow-up, when compared with diabetes education only. 3. To examine the effects of 'ACT-DE' on diabetes self-management behaviours, self-efficacy in diabetes care, and psychological flexibility (secondary outcomes) over the three-month follow-up, when compared with diabetes education; and 4. To identify the relationships between psychological flexibility and diabetes self-efficacy, diabetes self-management behaviour and HbA1c among the study participants

DM-BOOST Para Latinx: a Diabetes Mellitus Program Using Behavioral Economics to Optimize Outreach and Self-management Support With Technology for Latinx Patients

The specific aims of this project are to culturally adapt the DM-BOOST intervention for Latinx patients, usability test 'DM-BOOST para Latinx' to optimize cultural appropriateness and patient engagement and conduct a feasibility evaluation of DM-BOOST para Latinx. These aims will be accomplished via a community-based participatory research approach in collaboration with clinical, community and patient partners. This project will inform subsequent proposals to evaluate implementation of DM-BOOST in the UMass Memorial Health Care system.

Wound Assessment Using Spectral Imaging EU/UK

During the observational, non-interventional study, at Baseline Study Visit (BSV) subjects will be screened and consented. Eligible subjects will undergo imaging with the DeepView device. Pre- and post-debridement images will be obtained (if debridement performed per SOC), as well as reviewing medical history and physical assessments. Additional Study Visits (SVs) will be performed when patient returns to the clinic for Routine Clinic Visit for up to 12 weeks or wound closure. During these visits DeepView imaging will occur pre- and post-debridement, and the status of the subject's treatment will be recorded.

Diabetes mellitus is the third most prevalent chronic disease globally. It is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose because of impaired insulin production, reduced insulin effectiveness, or both. It is a major contributor to physical disability and impaired quality of life. Diabetes Self-Management programs help to control blood glucose, reduce hospitalization, and increase compliance; however, the program is underutilized in primary care settings globally, due to cognitive, financial, behavioral, and emotional factors. Addressing the increasing trend in diabetes, Jordan is currently in need of a diabetes self-management program that promotes patient empowerment and overall well-being. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a diabetes self-management education program for patients with type 2 diabetes in improving self-care, medication adherence, illness perception, health-related quality of life, and glycemic control (HbA1c level). This study is a two-arm randomized controlled trial study of patients with type 2 diabetes attending two outpatients' diabetes clinic settings in Jordan. The education program and also usual medical care were applied to the intervention group, only usual medical care was applied to the control group.

Project Dulce for Arab-Americans With Type 2 Diabetes

Arab Americans (AA) face many challenges in diabetes self-management due to the limited educational resources and support available for them. The cultural and linguistic barriers between patients and health care providers lead to poor diabetes management and outcomes. This study (Project Dulce Arabic) is adapted from the Project Dulce, an American Diabetes Association (ADA)-recognized Diabetes Self-Management Education Support (DSMES) program. Project Dulce Arabic comprises both peer-led diabetes education in Arabic and a 3-month text messaging program (Dulce Digital). The main aim of the study is to examine the effectiveness of a more culturally and linguistically appropriate diabetes education program in improving diabetes knowledge, beliefs, and self-management as well as hemoglobin A1C.

Trial to Learn About the Study Medicine (PF-07081532) and Rybelsus in People With Type 2 Diabetes and Separately PF-07081532 in People With Obesity

The purpose of this study is to find out if PF-07081532 ("the active study drug"), is safe and helps treat people with obesity without diabetes to lose weight, and people with diabetes to keep their blood sugar in good control. Individuals diagnosed with diabetes that are on metformin or individuals with obesity without diabetes will be included in the study. Those participating in the diabetes part of the study, will receive either active study drug, placebo, or an approved treatment called Rybelsus. Those in the obesity part of the study, will receive either active study drug or placebo. The study will last for about 36 weeks except for the first 25% of the participants that enter in which case the study will last for approximately 48 weeks. during this time there will be visits every 4 weeks with phone calls in between.
