Filter by:Background: The primary purpose of our study was to understand the damage in the peripheral nerves of patients with diabetes and to determine the change in patients' reaction rates and perceptions by the age groups, duration of diabetes, fasting plasma glucose and HbA1c values, and compare these with those of the healthy individuals. Methods: This study was carried out at the Baskent University Hospital Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Outpatient Clinic. A total of 64 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and 64 healthy controls were included in the study. Finger tapping, visual, and auditory reaction time tests were performed on the subjects, respectively. The subjects' fasting plasma glucose and HbA1c levels, and the duration of their diabetes were recorded. Analyses were performed using the SPSS version 25. Differences were considered statistically significant when the p-value is <0.05.
Populations in precarious situations or with low socio-economic status have an increased risk of diabetes and accelerated aging. According to the population studied, the elements that can explain these health inequalities are not unequivocal and remain poorly known. The north of France, particularly affected by socio-economic disparities, has a prevalence of diabetes among the highest in metropolitan France. This is why investigators want to study the clinical, biological, social and behavioural risk factors of the entry into diabetes and accelerated aging among a large population in the North of France. This study aims to characterize the population (among which a majority (55%) suffers from precarious conditions) who come to carry out their health examination at the Pasteur Institute in Lille in order to study the risk factors to better explain these health inequalities. This research consists of a main descriptive observational, cross-sectional study carried out on 2233 volunteers (main group) over 18 months, and a complementary analytical case-control study that will be offered to 216 participants (sub-group).
The purpose of the study is to look at the change in blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes who are using oral semaglutide and planning to fast during Ramadan. Participants will take oral semaglutide as prescribed by the study doctor. The study will last for about 5 months (20 weeks). Participants will be asked to complete a patient diary about how and when they take the oral semaglutide tablets. Participants will complete this diary during the study period as instructed by study doctor.
Purpose: To investigate the effect of Quinapril (Q) or Losartan (L) or their combination on definite Diabetic Autonomic Neuropathy (DAN) and left ventricular systolic and diastolic function (LVF) over a period of 4 years. Patients-methods: Fifty-nine patients with definite DAN [2 or more of the 4 Cardiovascular Reflex Tests (CRTs) were abnormal] were studied for 4 years. Patients were randomly allocated in 3 groups receiving A, 20 mg Q, B, 100 mg L and C, 20 mg Q +100 mg L respectively. CRTs analyzed with Mean Circular Resultant (MCR), Valsalva index, 30:15 ratio and postural hypotension. LV function was investigated with radionuclide ventriculography (RNV) at rest. Ejection fraction was used to assess LV systolic function, while peak filling rate, first third filling fraction, and atrial contribution to ventricular filling were used to investigate LV diastolic function. CRTs and RNV were performed at baseline and after 4 years.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of switching from glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) therapy to tirzepatide glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) GLP-1 RA agonist in participants with type 2 diabetes (T2D).
Therapeutic exercise is one of the therapies used as a treatment for diabetic neuropathy, which is a complication of diabetes. In order to reduce pain and improve the perception of quality of life, a combined therapeutic exercise program will be implemented as an adjuvant and non-pharmacological treatment for diabetic neuropathy.
The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of modified otago exercises on joint position sense, balance and physical fitness parameters in individuals with diabetic neuropathy. In addition aim of to examine the effects of exercise on metabolic variables and to gain exercise awareness in diabetic individuals.
In this study, a known investigational medicine called 'semaglutide' will be tested in 2 drug concentrations of 0.68 milligram per milliliter (mg/mL) and 1.34 mg/mL. Both drug concentrations are tested for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has approved semaglutide in prefilled pen-injector form. Currently, the drug concentration of 1.34 mg/ml can be prescribed in some countries including U.S. The objective of the study is to compare the amount of investigational drug taken up in the body for the 2 drug concentrations. Participants will be divided by chance into 2 groups. Group A will receive a single dose of 0.5 mg semaglutide of the drug concentration 1.34 mg/mL in the first study period; and will receive a single dose of 0.5 mg semaglutide of the drug concentration 0.68 mg/mL in the second study period. Participants assigned to group B will receive the two drug concentrations in the reverse order. Participants will get 1 subcutaneous injection on Day 1 of each of the two study periods. The two injections are separated by 7-11 weeks. The study will last up to approximately 87 to 141 days for each participant. This includes a screening period (up to 4 weeks), study period 1 (5 weeks), washout period (2-6 weeks), and study period 2 (5 weeks). At some periods during the study, participant should not get vaccinations. Participant should agree on timing of vaccination with study doctor. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to get pregnant during the study period.
This observational study was planned to determine the relationship between dietary antioxidant intake and thiol disulfide homeostasis of individuals with type 2 diabetes. One of the current approaches in medical nutrition therapy of diabetes is to increase the consumption of foods with high antioxidant content in order to strengthen antioxidant defense. Increased dietary antioxidant intake may have both protective and therapeutic effects by reducing the risk of diabetes and preventing complications that may occur. It is known that dynamic thiol disulfide balance can be a good indicator of antioxidant defense in individuals with diabetes, and there are limited studies on this subject.
