Filter by:In the past decades, the prevalence of adolescent depression and suicide increased significantly in Taiwan and worldwide. To date, the suicide mortality is the second mortality cause in the adolescent and young adult population in Taiwan. Previous studies reported that up to 40% of adolescents with major depressive disorder did not respond to at least two traditional antidepressants with the optimal dose and adequate duration. Those patients would be considered the cases with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), which is related to the poor prognosis, chronic depressive course, higher suicidal risk, severer cognitive dysfunction, and greater family burdens. However, much less studies investigated the treatment strategy for adolescent TRD compared with that for adult TRD. In this decade, low-dose ketamine infusion has been proved as a rapid-acting antidepressant for adult patients with TRD. In recent 5 years, the investigators study team finished two randomized, double-blind, and placebo-control trials to support the rapid antidepressant and anti-suicidal effect in Taiwanese adult patients with TRD. The investigators published several SCI studies about the investigators clinical findings and the underlying brain mechanisms. In the following 4 years, the investigators will conduct a new randomized, double-blind, and placebo-control trial in the adolescent TRD. It will be the first clinical trial for ketamine effect in adolescent TRD worldwide. The investigators will enroll 54 adolescents aged between 13 and 19 with TRD in four years. The investigators hypothesize that low-dose ketamine will be effective and well tolerable for adolescents with TRD.
This single-site study is a pilot, three-armed, double-blinded, placebo-controlled randomized controlled trial (RCT) that will determine the feasibility of a definitive RCT investigating the use of cannabis oil as a treatment for insomnia in individuals with MDD. The study will also determine whether standard THC with higher CBD vs lower CBD has a differential impact on insomnia. The study will also analyze other important objective parameters of sleep including total sleep time and sleep efficiency from actigraphy data. Polysomnography data will also be analyzed. In addition, standardized, validated instruments will be used to collect data on severity of depressive symptoms, cognitive functioning biological rhythm disruption, daytime sleepiness, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), healthcare resource utilization, work productivity and activity impairment, as well as other side effects, in order to better understand the potential impact of the use of cannabis oil on these important health outcomes.
In terms of postpartum care and depression, follow-up and controls should be continued online in order not to interrupt the follow-up and treatment of women. In this context, in order to prevent the development of postpartum depression and to increase maternal attachment, it is planned to deliver the progressive muscle relaxation exercise and individual health education program that we planned in our study through online applications. This study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of online health education and progressive muscle relaxation exercise program on postpartum depression and maternal attachment.The study was planned as a parallel randomized controlled experimental study conducted in a Family Health Center in Ankara, with a single-center, stratified block randomization (parity: primiparous, multiparous; EPDS score: 0-9, 10-30).The number of pregnant women to be included in the study was calculated as 56.Personal Information Form, Prenatal Attachment Scale, Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale and Postpartum Attachment Scale will be used to collect data.
Antidepressant-like effects of tadalafil to its ability to modulate transduction pathways responsible for neuroplasticity. Treatment with tadalafil was shown to be PKG-dependent and lead to increased expression of cGMP, pCREB, BDNF and VGF in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex (PFC), brain areas relevant to mood disorders pathophysiology. Low-dose tadalafil improved both depressive symptoms in patients with erectile dysfunction.
The study team will conduct a Multisite Randomized Controlled Trial to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of two approaches for quitting smoking among people with serious mental illness (SMI). The study will compare a novel app tailored to people with SMI, Quit on the Go, to a standard of care smoking cessation intervention. We will test the effectiveness of the Quit on the Go app, an intervention that has demonstrated feasibility and acceptability in the target population, as a tool for smoking cessation in people with SMI. Participants with SMI will be recruited across 3 sites (Duke University, Univ. at Buffalo, and Wake Forest University).
This trial compares intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) to low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (LFR) in regards to depression and anxiety outcomes in 100 patients with treatment resistant depression (TRD).

The natural aroma can not only awaken the limbic system's memory of aroma but also reflect the subconscious area of the brain, with physiological changes (such as controlling blood pressure, breathing, heartbeat, stress changes, memory, and hormonal coordination.) This study monitors the subject's autonomic nerve parameters before and after aromatherapy to obtain the olfactory cerebral nervous system to convey the message. When the study finishes, we expected to help the subject to relax and soothe the mind.

The aim is to assess the effectiveness of online group CBT for reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety among university students. The investigators will conduct a four-arm randomised control trial comparing a 10-session online group CBT intervention to three mental health apps (namely SilverCloud guided, SilverCloud unguided, and Mood Flow).
