A Study to Assess Efficacy and Safety of KarXT in Acutely Psychotic Hospitalized Adult Patients With Schizophrenia (EMERGENT-2)

This is a Phase 3, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled, multicenter inpatient study to examine the efficacy and safety of KarXT in adult subjects who are acutely psychotic with a Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Fifth Edition (DSM-5) diagnosis of schizophrenia. The primary objective of the study is to assess the efficacy of KarXT (a fixed combination of xanomeline 125 mg and trospium chloride 30 mg twice daily [BID]) versus placebo in reducing Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) total scores in adult inpatients with a DSM-5 diagnosis of schizophrenia. The secondary objectives of the study are to evaluate improvement in disease severity and symptoms, safety and tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in adult inpatients with a DSM-5 diagnosis of schizophrenia.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of offering self-sampling for high risk human papilloma virus (HPV) testing in order to increase the number of women who are screened for cervical cancer. The hypothesis of this study is that women who are notified of a need for cervical cancer screening by letter and are also offered a self-sampling kit for cervical cancer screening will have a higher rate of screening than women notified by letter alone. This study will use an intervention arm (letter and option to request a self-sampling kit) compared to a control arm (letter alone, standard of care) as a reminder that they are out of date for their cervical cancer screening. Women who are out of date with their cervical cancer screening will be identified using the Electronic Medical Record and randomized to the study group in a 2 to 1 ratio (2 for the control arm and 1 to the intervention arm). The primary endpoint that will be evaluated in this study is the method of completion of cervical cancer screening and the use of the self-sampling kit, which will be monitored over a three month period after the letters have been mailed. A secondary endpoint will be the overall rate of cervical cancer screening of all people mailed a letter.

The aim of this randomized clinical trial is to compare barbed suture versus non-barbed suture at the time of posterior repair on postoperative pain scores as measured by a visual analog scale (VAS) at 6 weeks. Study participants are randomized to use of barbed suture (2-0 V-Loc 90TM, Medtronic) or non-barbed suture (2-0 Polydioxanone, PDS® EthiconTM) in a standardized technique for posterior colporrhaphy at the time of posterior repair.

The purpose of this research study is to assess the feasibility of initiating telerehab in early stages after stroke during patient admission to an inpatient rehabilitation facility. Patients will complete 36 sessions of telerehab 6 days/week up to 8 weeks with a telehealth system provided in their hospital room and at their home. The system will include rehabilitation activities/exercises, education, and assessments to evaluate the patient experience and measure patient outcomes at the end of a 6-week course of telerehab.

Application of High Power Radio Frequency Energy in the Ventricular Tachycardia Treatment

Background: Patient's freedom from VT after RFA remains non-optimal and it depends on many factors. One of them is the effective reduction of the myocardium with RF energy during the operation. The standardization of the parameters of RF will help to increase the success of the procedure. Hypothesis: Radiofrequency ablation of ventricular tachycardias with high power parameters has comparable safety and leads to greater efficacy (absence of ventricular tachycardias and all types of cardioverter-defibrillator therapies) in the long-term compared with ablation with standard parameters in patients with structural heart disease. Purpose: to evaluate the safety and the efficiency of ablation of ventricular tachycardia in patients with structural heart disease using high power RF energy.
