Our primary aim is to evaluate whether Vitamin D deficiency causes depressive symptoms in antepartum and postpartum depression and whether early correction of Vitamin D deficiency improves these symptoms. Our secondary aims evaluate maternal and fetal outcomes including antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum complications. We are also evaluating the effectiveness of a common vitamin D treatment regimen used outside of pregnancy.
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if it is tolerable for patients with NSCLC to receive afatinib before surgery. The safety of this drug will also be studied.

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of human immunoglobulin SCIg in the form of Hizentra (Immune globulin Subcutaneous) in patients with Dermatomyositis. Hizentra provides effective protection against infection by maintaining a steady and normal level of immunoglobulin in the body) in patients with primary immunodeficiency. At present, patients with steroid resistant dermatomyositis can only be treated with IVIg (The healthy antibodies in IVIG can block the damaging antibodies that attack muscle and skin in dermatomyositis) treatment. An evaluation can then be made to see if SCIg is a suitable replacement and exerts immunomodulatory effect on complement antibodies.
This is a non-randomized open label multi-center study. Patients who are in their first complete remission (CR) following induction therapy will be treated with SL-401, which will be administered as a brief intravenous infusion for 5 consecutive days every 28 days for 6 or more cycles. Stage 1 will consist of a period in which approximately 6-9 patients will be treated with SL-401 at 3 dose levels. During Stage 2, up to approximately 20 patients with minimal residual disease (MRD) in their bone marrow will be treated at a maximum tolerated dose or maximum tested dose in which multiple dose-limiting toxicities are not observed (identified in Stage 1).
Acute dyspnea (shortness of breath) is a common complaint for patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED). The chest radiograph (CXR) has been the mainstay in evaluating patients with shortness of breath and often provides the timely diagnosis of pneumonia, pneumothorax, pulmonary edema, among other primary diseases of the lung. There are limitations with chest radiograph such as large body mass (e.g, obesity) and patient positioning. On occasion, chest radiography findings are difficult to interpret. Lung ultrasonography may offer a means of clarifying ambiguous results. The objective of this study to determine the usefulness of point of care lung ultrasound in evaluating patients presenting to the ED with shortness of breath, cough and/or wheezing.
This phase II trial studies how well everolimus and hormone therapy work in treating patients with hormone receptor positive breast cancer that has continued to spread (progressed) or returned after a period of improvement (recurred) on everolimus and exemestane hormone therapy. Everolimus is a chemotherapy drug that may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Estrogen and progesterone are hormones that can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy may fight breast cancer by lowering the amount of estrogen and progesterone the body makes. Giving everolimus with a different type of hormone therapy may be an effective treatment for breast cancer in patients who progressed on everolimus with exemestane.
The investigators propose to complete a randomized controlled trial to compare battlefield auricular acupuncture at five points in right ear and five points in left ear (cingulate gyrus, thalamus, omega 2, point zero, and shen men) plus standard of care, versus standard of care alone, for symptomatic treatment of stent pain in postoperative ureteral stent patients. Male and female DoD beneficiaries ages 18 years or older, who are scheduled for elective urologic surgery that would be expected to have the routine placement of a ureteral stent (ureteroscopy, ureteroscopy with biopsy, ureteroscopy with laser treatment of a stone, ESWL of stone greater than 10mm) will be recruited. Subjects will be followed up at 24 hours post surgery, 48 hours, 1 week, 1 month, and 1 month post surgery. The investigators will ask subjects to rate their pain level on a 0-10 analogue scale, the investigators will assess via the Ureteric Stent Symptoms Questionnaire (USSQ) subjects' urinary urgency, urinary frequency, and quality of life. The investigators will ask subjects how many pills they have taken for their pain including the quantity and dose to assess a reduction in pain medication use.
This pilot clinical trial studies quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at 3 Tesla in assessing disease in patients with tumors that have spread to the brain (brain metastases). In addition to routine care brain imaging of the brain, this study will include advanced multiparametric MRI sequences to measure vascular, cellular, and molecular properties of the tumor. Performing extra scans during MRI provides more information about the metastases and may better predict treatment response.
The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest tolerable dose of carfilzomib and ibrutinib that can be given to patients with relapsed or refractory MCL. Researchers also want to learn if carfilzomib and ibrutinib can help to control the disease. This is an investigational study. Ibrutinib is FDA approved and commercially available to treat MCL and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Carfilzomib is FDA approved and commercially available to treat certain types of multiple myeloma. Giving carfilzomib to patients with MCL is investigational. The combination of ibrutinib and carfilzomib is investigational. The study doctor can explain how the study drugs are designed to work. Up to 35 participants will be enrolled on this study. All will be enrolled at MD Anderson.
