Implementation of the Live Donor Champion Program

The Live Donor Champion Program is a clinical education program offered to patients placed on the waitlist for kidney transplantation at the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Transplant Center. The goal of the program is to increase patient knowledge regarding end stage renal disease, kidney transplantation, and live kidney donation and to help patients identify potential live kidney donors. Patients are encouraged to bring family and friends to participate in the program and act as advocates on their behalf. These friends and family members are labeled "live donor champions" and work to assist the patient in spreading awareness about end stage renal disease, kidney transplantation, and live kidney donation. The objectives of this project are to pilot-test and optimize strategies for the dissemination of the Live Donor Champion program in the clinical transplant center setting. The goals of the study are to develop an implementation protocol for centers who want to establish a live donor champion program at their institution.

AntiCD19 Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cells for Relapsed or Refractory Non Hodgkin Lymphoma

The purpose of this study is to determine if it is possible to treat your cancer with a new type of T cell-based immunotherapy (therapy that uses your immune system to treat the cancer). T cells are a type of white blood cell that helps the body fight infections. This treatment uses T cells already present within your body that have been modified outside of the body and returned to target your cancer. This type of treatment is sometimes referred to as adoptive cell transfer (ACT). In this study the specific type of cells that will be used is called chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR T cells). Another purpose of this study is to learn about the side effects and toxicities related to this treatment.

Tocilizumab for the Prevention of Graft Versus Host Disease After Cord Blood Transplantation

The aim of the research in this study is to make participants' transplant safer by reducing the risk of developing GVHD and GVHD-related complications by giving participants a dose of the drug tocilizumab in addition to the standard approach for GVHD prevention. Tocilizumab reduces the risk of inflammation by blocking the effect of Interleukin-6, a protein that exists in high levels in the blood when there is inflammation. Participants who receive stem cell transplants have high levels of this protein in their blood early after transplant. Therefore, the goal of this study is to reduce the risk of inflammation after transplant with the addition of Tocilizumab. This could decrease the risk of developing GVHD and GVHD-associated complications.

Ongoing Tai Chi Training for Children With ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has tremendous individual and societal impact, and the effectiveness of current standard treatments is limited. Thus, there are potential public health benefits for novel behavioral training programs that could remediate the core features of ADHD and contribute to sustained improvements in behavioral control. There is mounting evidence that children with ADHD show difficulties with motor control, and that these motor deficits are strongly associated with the core behavioral features of ADHD. Based on this information, the CNIR initiated a feasibility trial of a movement-based intervention, utilizing Tai Chi practice, targeting improved behavioral control through engagement of the motor system and results are highly promising. The investigators therefore will employ an extension of our ongoing Tai Chi programs for children with ADHD, beginning with children who have already completed one of the previous Tai Chi sessions. This program will provide the basis for studying the long-term effects of mindful movement, as well as creating a foundation for exploring the way that such interventions can be expanded into a more realistic support setting for the community. Hypothesis: After participating in the ongoing Tai Chi program, children with ADHD will show improvements in behavioral measures of motor, cognitive, and attentional control. The investigators further expect movement-based training will result in decreases in ADHD symptom severity.

Metal Ion Levels in Stryker Trident II Tritanium System With Modular Dual Mobility (MDM) Liner, Ceramic Head, and SecurFit Advanced Stems

Metal Ions levels of cobalt, chromium, and titanium in 40 patients preoperatively and at least 1 year status post total hip replacement with the Trident II Tritatnium system using an MDM liner and ceramic head. Are cobalt, chromium, and titanium levels in patients who undergo a total hip replacement with a Trident II Tritanium system, MDM liner, and ceramic head normal one year after surgery? Investigators expect to find normal levels of metal ions (cobalt, chromium, and titanium) after total hip replacement using Trident II Tritanium cups with an MDM liner and a ceramic head. The primary outcome (PO) is blood metal ion levels of cobalt, chromium, and titanium (concentration of metal ions in blood). Blood will be drawn in the 3rd Floor West of the Main Building, and then tested for metal ions in the Hospital for Special Surgery laboratory. The bloods will be drawn at a preoperative visit and at a one year visit.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether an intervention targeting healthy habit development reduces the risk and prevalence of obesity in low-income mothers and children. The study intends to evaluate whether the intervention, delivered in the context of home visitation services for low-income families, reduces weight gain and risk factors associated with parent and childhood obesity compared to those receiving standard home visitation services.
