There are about 173942 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in United States. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This phase II trial studies how well giving testosterone at levels higher than normally found in the body (supraphysiological) works to enhance chemotherapy treatment in patients with prostate cancer that has progressed despite being previously treated with androgen therapies and has spread from where it first started (prostate) to other places in the body (metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer). In patients that have developed progressive cancer in spite of standard hormonal treatment, administering supraphysiological testosterone may result in regression of tumors by causing deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage in tumor cells that have adapted to low testosterone conditions. Carboplatin is in a class of medications known as platinum-containing compounds. Carboplatin works by killing, stopping or slowing the growth of tumor cells. Etoposide is in a class of medications known as podophyllotoxin derivatives. It blocks a certain enzyme needed for cell division and DNA repair and may kill tumor cells. Giving supraphysiological levels of testosterone and carboplatin or etoposide together may be an effective treatment for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Through this prospective, single-arm cohort pilot study, we plan to explore the safety and effectiveness of Shoulder Radiofrequency Ablation (SRFA) in patients with non-operative chronic shoulder pain due to shoulder osteoarthritis with or without rotator cuff tears.
Objectives / Specific Aims - The purpose of this study is to investigate the acute effects of a single bout of moderate intensity maternal exercise on fetal well-being in a pregnancy affected by fetal growth restriction. Fetal well-being will be measured by biophysical profile (BPP), non-stress test (NST) and umbilical artery dopplers. - The hypothesis is that a single bout of maternal exercise will not significantly alter fetal well-being or fetal status.
The GW SMHS supports research in complementary and integrative approaches to treatment of sickness and disease and for health promotion. Sometimes, research may involve asking questions of patients, students, and health providers. In this study, individuals are being asked to participate in this study as either 1) a healthy volunteer, 2) a person with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), or 3) a person with early Alzheimer's disease (eAD). We are trying to learn more about if the gut microbiome (the microbes that live in our digestive tract) of individuals with eAD, MCI, and healthy controls are altered following lifestyle changes. This research will provide the pilot data to begin to understand if these changes in the gut microbiome are beneficial to health and/or may slow or halt the progression of MCI or early Alzheimer's.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of guselkumab compared to an inactive drug in participants with low body surface area moderate plaque psoriasis and special site involvement.
This research will study a custom device developed to detect if any prostate cancer tissue is left behind when the prostate is removed. This device is called an Electrical Impedance Imaging (EII) probe.
The study seeks to delve into the firsthand experiences of patients diagnosed with liposarcoma who partake in a separate clinical research featuring a specific medical intervention. The primary emphasis will be on meticulously tracking the rates of trial completion and withdrawal among these individuals. By joining this clinical study, individuals have the unique opportunity to contribute to the betterment of future liposarcoma patients and play an active role in advancing medical research.
Taking part in medical research usually favors a particular demographic group. But there is limited research available to explain what trial attributes affect the completion of these specific demographic groups. This study will admit a wide range of data on the clinical trial experience of Merkel cell carcinoma patients to determine which factors prevail in limiting a patient's ability to join or finish a trial. It will also try to analyze data from the perspective of different demographic groups to check for recurring trends which might yield insights for the sake of future Merkel cell carcinoma patients.
The specific aim of this study is to compare simultaneous assessment of gastric emptying and gastric accommodation in response to the same caloric meal before and three months after activation of left cervical VNS. Our hypothesis is that cervical VNS increases gastric accommodation and accelerates gastric emptying.
Caregiver Skills Training (CST) is an evidence-based intervention for parents of young children with developmental disabilities that was developed through a collaboration between Autism Speaks and the World Health Organization. The intervention is typically offered by Facilitators who are trained and supervised by CST Master Trainers. This study seeks to use a remote training model to compare two training and supervision processes. One group, comprised of facilitators from rural settings, will be trained and supervised by two master trainers from the University of Pittsburgh using a remote training model. A second group, comprised of facilitators from an agency serving primarily low-income households and located near Pittsburgh, will be trained and supervised in a face-to-face manner. Both groups will initially receive ten 90-minute training sessions over a 2-month period and will subsequently receive 1 hour per week of supervision while conducting their first 12-session CST group. Outcome measures will include assessment of change in caregiver stress and didactic skills as well as improvement in each child's communication/social skills, functional skills, and overall behavior. We have also added an additional research question in which we compare face-to-face CST sessions with remote CST sessions.
