To Assess the Utility of the Point Partial in a Clinical Take-home Study of Partial Hand Amputees

This study will allow us to assess whether the Point Partial confers functional and psychological benefit to persons with partial finger amputations in an unconstrained environment. The use of the Point Partial outside of the laboratory will allow for a wider variety of uses and for a more realistic simulation of the product being used in the field. This well-controlled trial (without randomization of subjects) will produce the first Level II-1 medical evidence in our field of partial hand prosthetic design as described by the 1989 U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Furthermore, this study will provide important data to support providers who are requesting reimbursement from payers.

Validation of Point Partial User Needs With Partial Finger Amputees

This study will be a single group intervention model where one group of 5 partial finger amputees will be asked to perform several tasks. Successful completion of a task results in a fulfilled user need. Failure to complete a task results in an unfulfilled user need.

This study aims to assess real-world tumor response in pre/perimenopausal HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients initiating palbociclib + aromatase inhibitor (AI) or AI alone as first-line therapy during the period on or after 01 January 2010 to on or before 30 June 2020. Data will be obtained from structured data fields within an electronic health record (EHR) database and will be supplemented by additional unstructured data collected through a targeted chart review.

Genomic Profiling of Mitochondrial Disease - Imaging Analysis for Precise Mitochondrial Medicine

This study is an observational longitudinal study involving the use of MRIs and video recordings taken at home of patients completing basic tasks. Once consent is obtained, subjects will be asked to schedule an appointment with radiology to undergo the listed MRIs of the heart and/or muscle. Subjects will also be given instructions on how to use the video recording app on their personal devices, or study provided device. The subjects will be followed regularly over the course of two years, submitting video recordings of their movements and reporting to Mayo Clinic for MRIs as scheduled.

Validating a New Point-of-care Device for Estimation of Blood Count in Pregnant Women

Postpartum hemorrhage is a well-known complication of delivery and the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. In developed nations, a complete blood count (CBC) is commonly collected as a means to assess or base treatment for blood loss. The Hemi device is a point-of-care device designed to provide hematocrit, followed by the stage of hemorrhagic shock using artificial intelligence algorithms. The ultimate goal of the product is to provide an accurate hematocrit from easily attainable samples such as vaginal blood during hemorrhage to remove yet another barrier to access for actively bleeding women. The purpose of this study is to compare the hematocrit of vaginal blood using the Hemi device with standard venipuncture.

Lottery Incentive Nudges to Increase Influenza Vaccinations

In the current study, the study team will explore whether small incentives are effective at promoting flu vaccine uptake. The study is designed to compare the relative efficacy of incentives of equal perceived expected value (EV) or equal implementation costs, to assess whether people are more likely to get vaccinated in response to lotteries with very high payoffs than to small certain cash payout or slightly higher-probability, more moderate payoffs. In particular, given the potential appeal of official state lottery tickets, one study arm will receive a Pennsylvania scratch-off lottery ticket for getting a flu vaccine. A primary hypothesis is that lotteries will outperform simple reminders (encouraging respondents to get the flu shot at their upcoming appointment) and the standard of care, representing the ambient healthcare system and public health campaigns to increase vaccination.
