NCT ID: NCT06154161 Active, not recruiting - Renal Failure Clinical Trials

Examining the Impact of High-protein Oral Supplement on Protein Status of Adults on Peritoneal Dialysis

Start date: March 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a 6-month prospective interventional clinical trial designed to evaluate the impact of whey protein isolate oral supplement on protein status. Differences in protein status will be evaluated with review of the medical chart from standard of care monthly blood collection for serum albumin, total protein, and normalized protein catabolic rate (nPCR) as detected by serum urea nitrogen. Mid-arm circumference and weight will be measured to ensure no significant changes. Quality of life will be measured to detect if the addition of protein aided in overall quality of life. There will be a 3-month recruitment period prior to the start of the trial to ensure the potential participants are familiarized with the clinical trial. After the recruitment period has finished, eligible participants will sign the consent form in order to participate in the study. At this point, participants will be provided the supplements for the month and instructed with the amount of water and how to mix with the provided measuring and drinking cup.

The safety and efficacy outcome measures will be assessed at selected dosing segments during the 24-week treatment phase as well as the Post Treatment (4 weeks). There are 2 sites in the U.S. participating, where a total of 20 patients will be enrolled.

NCT ID: NCT06153836 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Anatomic Stage I Breast Cancer AJCC v8

Neurotization of the Nipple Areolar Complex to Restore Sensation for Patients With Breast Cancer Undergoing Nipple Sparing Mastectomy and Reconstruction

Start date: December 5, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This phase II trial tests the willingness of patients undergoing nipple sparing mastectomy (NSM) to enroll in a randomized study of NSM with or without neurotization of the nipple areolar complex (NAC). This trial also compares patient reported outcomes, including quality of life and breast and NAC sexual functionality, for patients undergoing NSM with or without neurotization of the NAC. NSM is a standard practice option for patients undergoing preventative mastectomy, but many report dissatisfaction with decreased nipple sensation. Neurotization is a surgical technique using a nerve graft in an attempt to restore NAC sensation. Neurotization during NSM and reconstruction may restore NAC sensation and improve quality of life in breast cancer patients.
