There are about 173942 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in United States. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Investigators will determine whether MRSI using hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate provide useful information of tumor malignancy in MRI-indeterminate cases. Metabolite maps of hyperpolarized [1-13C]lactate and H13CO3- produced from hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate will be compared to the biopsy results of MRI-indeterminate patients and the 13C-maps of age-matched healthy subjects.
The investigators will acquire simultaneous EEG and fMRI data from Veterans with depression and schizophrenia and mentally healthy Veterans to assess early sensory responses, context updating, and responses to emotional images. Understanding how rumination affects engagement with the environment is the first step towards assessing its far-reaching cognitive and emotional costs, which cut across traditional diagnostic boundaries. Understanding how mindfulness restores information processing will increase our understanding of how, and for whom, it works.
This study aims to characterize UV exposures among NMSC patients (those with a history of skin cancer) and to pilot an innovative behavioral intervention to decrease modifiable UV exposures. It will use UV dosimeters to objectively measure UV exposure and provide time and activity specific UV data on an individual level. These data will be used to develop a targeted and personalized behavioral feedback plan with counseling aimed at effective sun exposure behavior change
We are performing a pilot cross-over diet study involving 5 patients with heterozygous FH and 5 patients with unexplained ADH. The patients will be randomized to a low versus high saturated fat diet for 4 weeks each. We hypothesize that patients with unexplained ADH may have an exaggerated cholesterol response to saturated fat intake. The specific aim of this study is to quantify the increase in LDL-C in unexplained ADH patients compared to FH patients. The pilot study proposed here will develop preliminary data to be used for future funding proposals of larger, randomized studies.
This study will be looking at people with lateral elbow tendinopathy (elbow pain). The goal is to determine if a one-time isometric intervention will positively change the level of pain and strength as compared to baseline measurements. After determining baseline strength and pain level, an intervention consisting of several trials of isometric hand/wrist contractions will be performed by the participant. Pain and strength will again be assessed immediately after the intervention.
Overactive bladder (OAB) affects 12-30% of the world's population. The accompanying urinary urgency, urinary frequency and incontinence can impair the ability to work, interact in social activities and can result in poor social functioning. Multiple treatment modalities are available for overactive bladder. However, each therapy has drawbacks that limit its application in certain patient populations. For example, oral medications have significant side effects and suffer from poor adherence. Botulinum toxin injection into the bladder wall is invasive, requires re-treatment on a regular basis and carries a risk of urinary retention. Current neuromodulatory techniques are invasive and require highly-specialized care. Therefore, a need exists for a non-invasive, well-tolerated and easily administered therapy for OAB. Transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation (TSCS) has been developed and tested in able bodied individuals to initiate locomotor function as well as in the SCI population for lower extremity and upper extremity function. More recently, we have tested this SCI patients to enable lower urinary tract function and decrease detrusor overactivity, resulting in improved continence.
This study aims to investigate the effects of MDMA on prefrontal and amygdala activation, and to explore the relationship between these MDMA-induced neural changes and the acute behavioral effects of the drug in patients with PTSD.
The overall objective of the clinical studies with the OstiSense biosensor tool will be to evaluate whether the use of the OstiSense biosensor tool significantly reduces the number of sleep bruxism events per night as well as the duration of those events for patients with bruxism. The product under investigation is the OstiSense biosensor with biofeedback for bruxism therapy. The sensor is integrated in a night-guard like device and registers the pressure created during a bruxism episode. If a predetermined pressure threshold is exceeded, the integrated vibration tool will be activated, and the vibrations will/should remind the wearer to stop clenching his jaws and relax his facial muscles. Due to this feedback, the number of bruxism episodes as well as clenching time per episode should be reduced. The sensor also identifies the time of grinding and the sleep stage of the patient.
Latina immigrant women are particularly vulnerable to depression and anxiety due to the social and economic stressors they face, including high levels of poverty, low levels of education, family obligations, exposure to violence, and limited access to community resources. ALMA aims to prevent and reduce depression and anxiety among Latina immigrant women. Women attend 8 weekly sessions in a group format to teach and encourage women to use coping strategies to reduce depression and anxiety. The intervention aims to increase participants' social ties and the social support they receive from other Latina immigrant women. The program also helps decrease the stigma associated with mental health and connects women to mental health services when needed.
This is a randomized double-blind controlled trial of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) for glycine receptor antibody positive (GlyRα1) antibody Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) spectrum disorders. Adult patients will be enrolled over the course of 36 months. Study duration per patient will be 11 weeks. Total study duration will be 39 months. All treatment and study visits will occur at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
