There are about 2500 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Ukraine. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The problem of acute tonsillitis (AT) is one of the most urgent in modern clinical medicine. The prevalence of pathology ranges from 2 to 15% of the total population. AT (ICD J03.0-J03.9) in most cases is due to viral infections. Bacterial acute tonsillitis occurs in immunocompetent children in 20-30% of cases. To determine the indications for antibacterial therapy, the Mclsaac scale is a commonly used tool for decision. This scale is used to classify patients according to their symptoms and to determine the patients for whom antibiotic therapy is not indicated. Thus, in most cases of acute tonsillitis (even if there are 4-5 points according to the scale), it has to be taken into account that there is a low probability of the presence of GABS. Therefore, there are no unconditional indications for the prescription of antibiotics. Unjustified antibiotic therapy of AT plays a significant role in the formation of antibiotic resistance. To prevent unjustified prescription of antibiotics, a therapeutic concept of delayed administration is proposed. A patient with AT is prescribed treatment with antibiotics in a delayed manner. In the absence of a positive effect within 36-48 hours from the beginning of treatment with Imupret, the antibacterial therapy is started. The advantage of deferred antibiotic prescription is, that a higher number of patients and doctors, awaiting antibiotic therapy, may be more agreeable with this way of treatment than with a complete rejection of the antibiotic's prescription. So delayed use of antibiotics is an important treatment strategy to reduce the number of unreasonable prescriptions of antibiotics. Considering this fact, it becomes necessary to use drugs with a complex effect and evidence-based efficacy base for acute tonsillitis. At the moment, there is an insignificant evidence base for the application of the phytoneering drug Imupret in acute tonsillitis. The spectrum of its pharmacological properties includes antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulating effects. The combination of these properties makes it possible to influence practically all parts of acute tonsillitis. The already existing studies were not conducted under GCP conditions. Confirmation of the high effectiveness of Imupret in the treatment of acute tonsillitis would serve as a rationale for optimizing the treatment regimen of this nosology and recommendations for the inclusion of the drug in national guidelines.
Patients whose kidneys are no longer able to work as they should and require treatment to filter wastes from the blood (hemodialysis) are at high risk for blood clots that form in blood vessels (thrombosis) blocking blood flow that causes heart attacks, strokes, and other life-threatening conditions. BAY2976217 is under clinical development for prevention of thrombosis. The goal of the study is to learn more about the safety of BAY2976217, how it is tolerated and the way the body absorbs, distributes and gets rid of the study dug given as multiple doses in participants with renal impairment who require hemodialysis.
This trial is a multi-centre, open-label, single-arm phase 2 trial investigating the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of C21 in subjects with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
In this study researchers want to learn about the safety of drug Osocimab at lower-dose and higher-doses in adult participants with kidney disease undergoing regular dialysis (a procedure that uses a machine to get rid of toxins and extra fluids in the blood). Patients with kidney disease undergoing regular dialysis are at high risk for heart and blood vessels diseases. Osocimab is a human monoclonal antibody under development for the prevention of events caused by blood clots like heart attack, stroke and death due to heart or blood vessels diseases. It works by binding to and blocking the activated form of clotting factor XI which increases the formation and stability of clots. Researchers also want to find out how drug Osocimab works in human body and how the body absorbs, distributes and excretes the drug. Participants in this study will receive monthly injection of either Osocimab at a lower-dose or higher-dose or placebo (a placebo looks like a treatment but does not have any medicine in it). Both Osocimab and placebo will be injected into the tissue under the skin of the belly. Observation for each participant will last up to 23 months. Blood samples will be collected from the participants to monitor the safety and measure the blood level of the study drug.
This is a randomized, double-masked, multicenter study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of FYB203 compared to Eylea® in patients with neovascular age related macular degeneration.
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of seltorexant compared with quetiapine extended-release (XR) as adjunctive therapy to an antidepressant drug in treatment response in participants with major depressive disorder with insomnia symptoms (MDDIS) who have had an inadequate response to current antidepressant therapy with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI).
This study will investigate the efficacy and safety of RO6889450 as monotherapy in participants experiencing an acute exacerbation of symptoms of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.
This is a study in adults who had a heart attack (myocardial infarction). The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called empagliflozin helps to lower the chances of having to go to the hospital for heart failure and whether it lowers the chances of dying from cardiovascular disease. People who are in hospital may join the study soon after being treated for their heart attack. Participants are put into 2 groups by chance. One group takes 1 empagliflozin tablet a day. The other group takes 1 placebo tablet a day. Placebo tablets look like empagliflozin tablets but do not contain any medicine. All participants continue their standard treatment. Empagliflozin belongs to a class of medicines known as SGLT-2 inhibitors. Empagliflozin is a medicine that helps people with type 2 diabetes to lower their blood sugar. Researchers think that empagliflozin might also help people after heart attack who are at risk for heart failure, whether or not they have diabetes. Participants are in the study for about 1 to 2 years. During this time, there are about 4 visits inperson, 2 visits are done either by phone or by use of an mobile application. Results between the empagliflozin and placebo groups are compared. The doctors also regularly check the general health of the participants.
Researchers in this study want to learn more about the safety of the drug runcaciguat and how well it works when given at the highest dose as tolerated by the individual patient whose kidneys are not working properly and suffering at the same time from high blood sugar and/or high blood pressure and a disease of the heart and the blood vessels. Runcaciguat is a new drug under development for the improvement of kidney function. It works by activating proteins that helps to dilate blood vessels, including vessels in the kidneys. This can improve blood flow in kidney and may slow down the progression of kidney disease. This dilative effect can also influence the heart rate and blood pressure. Researchers also wants to find the best dose of the drug during the study. Participants in this study will receive either runcaciguat or placebo tablets every morning for 8 weeks. A placebo looks like the study drug but does not have any active medicine in it. On a weekly basis, the dose of the runcaciguat will be increased step by step. In total, participants will visit the doctors about 10 times, and the observation will last for about 16 weeks. Blood and urine samples will collected from the participants.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and clinical efficacy of PN-943 450 mg twice daily [BID] and PN-943 150 mg BID, compared with placebo BID, in subjects with moderate to severe active Ulcerative Colitis (UC).
