The Impact of Preoperative Bowel Exercise on Postoperative Bowel Functions in Gynecologic Malignancies

Gastrointestinal dysfunction is a common complication after abdominal gynecologic oncology surgery. There are numerous studies in the literature addressing the management of bowel function in the postoperative period. Unfortunately, the strategies in the literature are not one hundred percent successful, and complete prevention of postoperative bowel dysfunction cannot be achieved. There is no study in the literature demonstrating that abdominal exercises given to patients undergoing surgery for gynecological malignancies in the preoperative period improve gastrointestinal function in the postoperative period. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of an exercise plan, including abdominal massage and rectal digital stimulation, performed before gynecologic oncology surgery on postoperative bowel functions.

The Effects of Swedish Massage and Manual Lymph Drainage on Muscle Fatigue

12 healthy men aged 18-30 will be included in the study. Participants will be selected from students who regularly train and do active sports at the Faculty of Sports Sciences. All participants will do nordic hamstring exercise. Participants will rest for 20 minutes after the Nordic hamstring exercise protocol in the first week. In the second week, manual lymph drainage covering the lower extremities will be applied for 20 minutes after exercise. In the third week, a Swedish massage covering the lower extremities will be applied after exercise. The exercise protocol is planned as 5 sets of 8 repetitions and 2 minutes of rest between each set. The evaluations of the participants will be repeated 3 times: just before the test, after the test and after the application.

The Impact of Virtual Reality and Kaleidoscope in Children During Vaccination

This study was designed to examine the effects of using virtual reality and kaleidoscope during routine vaccination in children aged 48 months on pain, fear, and anxiety. Children aged 48 months who were to receive the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine were randomized into three groups. Accordingly, the study sample consisted of a virtual reality group with 42 children, a kaleidoscope group with 42 children, and a control group with 42 children, totaling 126 children. Fear and pain were evaluated by both the researcher and the child before and after the procedure. Anxiety was assessed by the child after the procedure. The Wong Baker Faces Pain Rating Scale was used for pain, the Children's Fear Scale for fear, and the Child Anxiety Scale-State Version for anxiety.

Treatment of flexor tendon injuries after appropriate surgical repair ıt includes an intensive rehabilitation program. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the early rehabilitation results of patients who underwent a rehabilitation program after Zone II flexor tendon injury by comparing the improvements in joint range of motion, pain, functionality and quality of life with other zone injuries.

Mindfulness in Childbirth Preparation Education Process

The study was conducted as a prospective, randomized controlled study to determine the effect of Mindfulness-Based Childbirth Education on psychosocial outcomes in pregnant women. Pregnant women applied to Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pregnancy Polyclinic and Faculty Member Polyclinic between 15.09.2021-28.06.2022. A total of 82 pregnant women were included in the experimental and control groups. The experimental group received Mindfulness-Based Childbirth Education for 8 weeks and the control group received Information-Based Childbirth Education for 4 weeks. Evaluation was performed in both groups before and after the training and at the end of the 4th postpartum week. The data were collected using the Introductory Information Form, Perceived Stress Scale, Edinburg Postpartum Depression Scale, Birth Self-Efficacy Scale and City Birth Trauma Scale.
