Intravenous Treatments Used in Medication Overuse Headache Bridge Treatment

Medication overuse headache is the chronicity of headaches, which occurs more than 15 days a month, as a result of frequent use of painkillers, opioids or migraine attack drugs (ergotamine, triptan) in individuals with pre-existing primary headache disease. In the treatment of this headache, two ways can be followed as slow drug discontinuation or sudden drug discontinuation. The most commonly used method is the sudden discontinuation of the overused analgesic agent, the initiation of prophylactic treatment, and then the application of bridge therapy for 6-10 days. Intravenous hydration, steroids, antiemetics, neuroleptic drugs and local anesthetic drugs such as lidocaine can be used in bridge treatment.

A Trial to See if the Combination of Fianlimab With Cemiplimab Works Better Than Pembrolizumab for Preventing or Delaying Melanoma From Coming Back After it Has Been Removed With Surgery

This study is researching an experimental drug called REGN3767, also known as fianlimab (R3767), when combined with another medication called cemiplimab (each individually called a "study drug" or called "study drugs" when combined) compared with an approved medication called pembrolizumab. The objective of this study is to see if the combination of fianlimab and cemiplimab is an effective treatment compared to pembrolizumab in patients that have had melanoma removal surgery but are still at high risk for the recurrence of the disease. Pembrolizumab is an approved treatment in some countries in this clinical setting. The study is looking at several other research questions, including: - What side effects may happen from receiving the study drugs. - How much study drug is in the blood at different times. - Whether the body makes antibodies against the study drug (which could make the drug less effective or could lead to side effects). Antibodies are proteins that are naturally found in the blood stream that fight infections. - How administering the study drugs might improve quality of life.

Effect of Percussion Massage on Hamstring Flexibility

Background and aim: Percussion massage, which is one of the applications to increase muscle flexibility, is a method that combines vibration and massage therapy elements. With its popularity in recent years, it is offered as an alternative to traditional methods that increase flexibility. The aim of this study is to examine the acute effect of percussion massage and static stretching exercise on hamstring flexibility. Method: Individuals with active knee extension angle limited to at least 15 degree were included in the study, which was designed as a cross-over. Active Knee Extension test and Sit and Reach Test were performed before and after the interventions for the evaluation of hamstring flexibility. Participants were divided into 3 groups as percussion massage, static stretching and control groups, interventions were made with 3 days intervals and control measurements were taken.

Primary aim of this study is to determine whether core stabilization training in addition to orofacial manual therapy is more effective on Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) symptoms than orofacial manual therapy alone in patients with TMD. These secondary aim is to determine the effectiveness of orofacial manual therapy on TMD symptoms in patients with TMD. Patients will be treated for 10 sessions once a week, for a total of 10 weeks. Evaluation was planned to be done twice, at the beginning and end of the treatment.

Effect of Maternal Odor and Kangaroo Care on Serum Cortisol and Comfort Levels in Preterm Infants: a Randomised Trial

Aims and objectives: Studies on stress are generally aimed at young children and infants. However, in the neonatal period, "especially in preterm babies", this issue was not given enough attention and was almost completely ignored. Background: They are exposed to different stressors. Too much stress will increase their problems in their future lives. Design: This study was planned as a randomized study to determine the effects of Kangaroo Care and mother scent application on toxic stress in preterm infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit environment and to create evidence-based recommendations regarding these applications. Methods: Research data were collected from a total of 92 preterm babies born. Babies were divided into 3 groups, those who never met their mothers, only mother scent group and KC group. The mother's undershirt was used as the maternal odor. Vital signs, blood cortisol levels and Preterm Infant Comfort Scale scores were determined and recorded each group.The data were evaluated by statistical analysis. The CONSORT checklist for reporting qualitative research was used. Results: In the group that never encountered mother and mother odor, Preterm Infant Comfort Scale, blood cortisol level and vital signs showed severe stress. It was found that maternal odor is effective in reducing this stress, but kangaroo care is much more effective in preventing stress. Conclusion: if premature babies are deprived of their mother, the stress may be exposed to reaches toxic levels. It was determined that kangaroo care application during the treatment of these babies is a more effective method in reducing stress than the maternal odor application method. Relevance to clinical practice: The results of this study will contribute to nurses' use of kangaroo care and maternal odor in the care of preterm babies to prevent stress and related complications.Therefore, it will improve the quality of care of preterm babies in the NICU.

Eye Movements Desensitization and Reprocessing Intervention in Preventing Craving in Alcohol Use Disorder

This study is conducted to examine the effect of a psychotherapy model that is expected to affect alcohol cravings in adults aged 18-65 years who are being treated for alcohol use disorder at a clinic. The psychotherapy intervention is expected to affect other variables such as clinical symptom level, self-efficacy level, and functionality level. This protocol is called addiction-focused eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (addiction-focused EMDR). Patients found suitable for the study will be divided into experimental and control groups. The intervention will be applied to the experimental group and not to the control group. At the end of the intervention, the effect of the intervention primarily on the level of craving will be compared with that of the control group. The intervention is expected to reduce the level of craving. The intervention is expected to have an impact on the other variables mentioned as well.

Mindfulness Based Interventions in Pediatric Nurses

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of the Mindfulness Stress Reduction Intervention on increasing the psychological resilience of pediatric nurses. Design: This is a single-center, single-blind, randomized controlled trial Method: In the study, the group in which the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Initiative was applied was taken as the experimental (n: 15), the unstructured group (n: 14) in which the stressful life experiences were shared as the control group. Due to the limited number of the research population (N:56), 29 nurses who agreed to participate in the study and met the inclusion criteria were included in the study without using the sampling method. This research was conducted with pediatric nurses working in the inpatient units of a children's hospital affiliated to a university in Izmir. Stress reduction training based on mindfulness, including meditation and breathing techniques, was given to the experimental group for 5 weeks. No intervention was applied to the control group. The primary outcomes of the study were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale, the Self-Compassion Scale, the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, and Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults. This study is important because it is the first randomized controlled study on the effect of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on resilience in nurses in our country. In addition, the results will contribute to preventing nurses from leaving the profession in the early period, providing more flexibility and therefore safe patient care to the nursing workforce, especially in today's health system where there is a heavy nursing shortage.

The Effect Subtalar Joint Pronation on Postural Stability and Lower Extremity Alignment

The lower extremity consists of sequent columns. The deviation of one segment from its normal alignment in the lower extremity also affects the alignment of the other segments. The alignment of the parts of the foot during weight bearing is called foot posture. Foot posture is divided into neutral, pronation, and supination. Foot posture varies significantly from person to person, and deviations from normal foot posture are associated with lower extremity injuries. Increased or prolonged pronation has been identified as both a risk factor and etiologic factor for increased navicular drop, a lower extremity malalignment pattern. In pronation posture, the foot may not adequately adapt to the ground, and there is increased movement of the lower extremity in the frontal plane. As a result, the person's postural stability is compromised. The fact that the foot is the most distal segment of the lower extremity chain indicates that even small biomechanical changes in the bearing surface can significantly affect postural control strategies. There are studies in the literature that examine the effect of foot pronation on dynamic balance and postural stability in individuals with different foot postures. However, to our knowledge, there is no study that examines differences in postural stabilization and lower extremity alignment by classifying individuals with varying degrees of subtalar joint pronation into pronation and hyper pronation groups.
