Emergence agitation; generally refers to a situation that may occur after a surgical intervention or anesthesia. This situation describes the irritability and agitation of the patient during the recovery process and the period of recovery from anesthesia. Recovery agitation may occur when the patient begins to recover and is usually a short-term condition. It resolves spontaneously. However, in some cases, this agitation may be more pronounced and disturbing. This may affect the patient's condition and relaxation. Rapid recovery from anesthesia in the clinic is also a risk factor for agitation. When the literature is examined, there are not enough studies on Bis suppression ratio and its relationship with recovery agitation is not yet known enough. For this purpose, our study aimed to question this relationship.

The Effect of Cold Gel Pack Application on Itching in Burn Patients in the Maturation Stage

Burn is a serious trauma that causes acute damage to the skin and subcutaneous tissues due to the effect of heat, electricity, radiation, physical, and chemical substances. It has been reported that the incidence of itching is high in burn patients during the maturation stage of wound healing. The literature suggests that in managing the symptom of itching, skin hydration support along with cold application methods can also be used. The integrity of the skin, the duration, frequency, characteristics, areas of itching, and identifying conditions that increase or decrease itching are important for managing itching. This study is planned to be conducted with a randomized controlled design to examine the effect of applying cold gel packs to burn areas of burn patients during the maturation stage on itching. This researcher's hypothesis is that burn patients who applied cold gel packs to burn areas during the maturation phase had lower itching severity (frequency, duration, intensity) than those who did not.

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the effects of chromium serum levels on glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, morbidity and mortality rates in critically ill intensive care patients. The investigators' goal is to provide a different perspective on solving the common problems of hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia encountered in intensive care patients, aiming to reduce morbidity and mortality rates. Participants will give a single blood sample (into trace element serum tube) on the day of admission to the intensive care unit, along with routine blood tests, and samples will be taken once a week during their stay in the intensive care unit.

Hemidiaphragmatic paresis is a common side effect of brachial plexus blocks such as supraclavicular or infraclavicular block techniques. It has been shown that diaphragma thickness is affected at some extent in supraclavicular block and also in costoclavicular block which is accepted as an infraclavicular approach. However, these two approaches have not been extensively investigated before in terms of the diaphragmatic paresis. Here, it is aimed to compare these two methods considering their effects on diaphragma thickness in inspirium and in expirium. Moreover, the performance properties such as motor and sensory block onset, needle visualization time, needle visualization difficulty, postoperative pain scores, and lastly the perfusion index which is known to be reflecting vasodilation will be investigated.

Combined SAPB in MICS

Minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) has begun to be performed frequently in recent years. Compared to sternotomy, MISC reduces the risk of mediastinitis, leaves a more aesthetic scar, facilitates postoperative rehabilitation, and shortens the hospital stay. MICS requires a thoracic incision in the right 4th or 5th intercostal space. This incision causes intense and long-lasting pain in the postoperative period. Pain is exacerbated by breathing movements, coughing, and respiratory physiotherapy. Postoperative analgesia is a critical risk factor for the development of pulmonary and cardiovascular complications in any type of cardiothoracic surgery. If patients with high pain levels cannot breathe effectively, it may lead to atelectasis, cardiac ischemia, and arrhythmias. This prolongs the time it takes for patients to be discharged and increases the frequency of postoperative pulmonary complications and postoperative morbidity. In addition to intravenous medications, various neuraxial and peripheral nerve blocks can be used in cardiac surgery. In recent years, thoracic epidural analgesia has been avoided due to the use of intraoperative high-dose heparin. As an alternative, peripheral nerve blocks have recently gained popularity. SAPB is one of them. SAPB can be applied in three ways. While deep SAPB (DSAPB) is applied under the serratus anterior muscle, superficial SAPB (SSAPB) is applied above the serratus anterior muscle. Combined SAPB (CSAPB) is applied both below and above the serratus anterior muscle. These blocks can be performed with a single injection anywhere between the second and seventh ribs on the lateral chest wall. In this study, the analgesic effects of ultrasound-guided CSAPB application in patients undergoing MICS will be evaluated.
