Chronic shoulder pain, predominantly caused by rotator cuff disorders represents one of the most frequently encountered musculoskeletal issues within the community. Rotator cuff tears are a crucial pathophysiological contributor to shoulder pain. Individuals afflicted with this condition frequently report nocturnal intensification of pain and movement-specific aggravation, especially during overhead activities. The condition is frequently correlated with functional impairment, with many patients noting a sensation of weakness. Conservative treatment of the rotator cuff tear consists of a wide range of procedures such as exercise therapy; and/or local anesthetic, ice/heat therapy, electrotherapy, various types of manual therapy and joint mobilization procedures. Corticosteroid injection approach is an alternative method to these applications The subacromial corticosteroid injection is an intervention technique that has been utilized for short-term relief over numerous years.Given the restricted self-repair capabilities of tendons the consideration of novel biological treatment strategies for tendinopathies has gained prominence in recent times. Nonetheless, there remains a lack of sufficient scientific evidence to substantiate their efficacy.Mulligan mobilization techniques are manual therapy techniques that aim to increase normal joint movement and reduce pain levels by correcting the biomechanical structure of joint surfaces to provide a pain-free range of motion. A review of the literature reveals no studies comparing the Mulligan mobilization technique and corticosteroid injections in rotator cuff tears. The aim of our study is to examine the effects of the Mulligan mobilization technique and corticosteroid injections on pain, range of motion, functionality and proprioception in individuals with rotator cuff tears.

Early Evaluation After Cardiac Surgery

The aim of this study is to examine the changes in respiratory function, respiratory muscle strength and functional capacity markers and the relationship between them in patients who have undergone open heart surgery and are at the discharge stage. Method: Preoperative and postoperative evaluation results of 34 patients at discharge will be examined. Evaluations in the file; demographic data, respiratory functions; It will include spirometric measurements and intraoral pressure measurements and functional capacity measurement results. SPSS version 25 will be used in data analysis. The distribution of the participants according to their gender among the groups, presence of chronic diseases, regular drug use, smoking, alcohol use, regular exercise habits will be evaluated with the "chi-square" test. The conformity of the data to the normal distribution will be tested with the Shaphiro-Wilk Test. The difference between before and after the operation will be evaluated with the Paired Sample T Test. Pearson Correlation Test was performed for the relationship between independent variables and the significance level will be accepted as p<0.05.

Effect of Stress Ball on Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Objective: This study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of stress ball on symptom severity, quality of life, depression, anxiety and stress in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Material and Method: The data of the randomized controlled experimental study will be collected at the gastroenterology outpatient clinic of Erzurum City Hospital. A simple randomization list was created with the Random Allocation Software program and it will be carried out with a total of 56 patients diagnosed with IBS, including 28 experimental and 28 control groups. Patients in the experimental group were asked to squeeze the stress ball for at least 10 minutes every day for 4 weeks. No treatment will be applied to those in the control group. Patient information form, IBS symptom severity score, IBS quality of life scale, Depression-Anxiety-Stress scale will be used to collect research data. There were two groups a digital game group (n=9) and a control group (n=6). Respiratory training was given to the digital game group with a digital game. The control group was followed with medication. Both groups were evaluated at baseline and after 3 weeks.

Up to 70% of patients may have post- Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) cerebral dysfunction, which can result in long-term cognitive and motor impairment, first showing as brain edema and higher intracranial pressure (ICP). Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter (ONSD) is a non-invasive method of measuring Intracranial Pressure (ICP). The Primary Aim of this study is to identify the correlation between ONSD and ECLS time in newborns who get ECLS.

Clinical Characteristics, Outcomes and Risk Factors for Mortality in Pregnant/Puerperal Women With COVID-19 Admitted to ICU in Turkey: a Multicenter, Retrospective Study From a Middle-income Country.

We performed a national, multicenter, retrospective, cohort study. The study was announced on the Turkish Society of Intensive Care Medicine website, which included the study protocol, and the directors of ICUs caring for COVID-19 patients were invited. The study population comprised all SARS-CoV-2-infected pregnant or puerperal women (up to 6 weeks after birth) who were admitted to participating ICUs between 1 March 2020 and 1 January 2022. The exclusion criteria were patients aged <18 years old, patients with negative COVID-19 PCR test results, patients with active malignant disease, and organ transplant recipients.The following data were collected: patient demographics, gestational age or postpartum day on admission, date of ICU admission, comorbidities, vaccination status, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE-2) and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores on admission, the worst SOFA score during the ICU stay, the ratio of lung infiltrates if diagnostic imaging was performed, the time interval from the start of symptoms to ICU admission, the duration of ICU stay, laboratory values on admission and the worst laboratory values during the ICU stay, the development of extrapulmonary organ injury,the presence of non-COVID-19 infections, The worst PaO2/FiO2 ratio during the ICU stay, the most invasive respiratory support method applied, and therapies were also recorded. Immunomodulatory therapies such as corticosteroids, IL inhibitors, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and cytokine hemadsorption, were also recorded. Fetal and neonatal complications were collected. LASSO regression and multiple logistic regression analyses were used to identify risk factors for maternal ICU mortality.

Mindfulness Practices in Earthquake Survivor Nursing Students

Disaster; They are natural, technological or human-induced events that cause physical, economic and social losses for all or certain segments of the society, and stop or interrupt normal life and human activities. Disasters are often unavoidable. They often come suddenly and cause great suffering to the survivors. As natural disasters, especially earthquakes occur frequently in Turkey; cause human and economic losses. The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, which occurred in February 2023 and are described as the disaster of the century, affected ten provinces, namely Gaziantep, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adıyaman, Adana, Malatya, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa and Elazığ, apart from the epicenter. Nursing students who were exposed to this earthquake were adversely affected physically, psychologically, socially and economically. The psychological effects of severe traumatic events such as earthquakes are not seen in all people to the same degree. However, the reactions of individuals to traumatic situations differ in terms of both their positive thinking skills and their ability to use stress coping mechanisms. Positive thinking is the ability to see the bright side of things and makes people more creative and constructive. Approaching events positively and evaluating them with positive thoughts also affect the quality of individuals' daily lives. Positive thinking is also linked to positive emotions, optimism, hope, joy, and happiness. Positive thinking is one of the factors that affect the quality of life and relationships. Individuals with positive thinking characteristics always keep the expectation that good events will happen, and their perspectives and approaches to events are in this direction. Individuals who have such expectations are individuals who can adapt to distressing situations or difficulties more easily than those who do not. In this way, the individual can gain a more optimistic perspective, reduce the amount of stress he experiences and strengthen the mechanism of coping with stress. Many studies show that; Positive thinking skills are an important factor in coping with stress and anxiety, problem solving, happiness, academic performance and even health. The fact that positive thinking skills and mechanisms for coping with stress have such an important role in human life and behavior made us think that we can also benefit from mindfulness practices in strengthening these concepts. The study was shaped within this framework and it was aimed to reveal the effect of mindfulness practices on the positive thinking skills of nursing students and the level of coping mechanisms with stress.
