There are about 3491 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Singapore. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study was to determine if Irbesartan compared to Placebo would reduce the risk of vascular events such as heart attack, stroke, non-cerebral thromboembolic event and death in patients with Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and with at least one major risk of vascular events.
Brachytherapy is a recent technique used in the treatment of tumours and involves the use of radioactive sources brought into close contact with the target tissues. One of the principal benefits of brachytherapy is that high radiation doses can be localised within the tumour with the consequence of minimal side effects. 32P is a radionuclide ideal for brachytherapy as it has high energy beta emitting properties, typically a maximum tissue range of about 8 mm and a half life of 14.3 days. 32P BioSiliconTM is an active implantable medical device encapsulating 32P within the internal microcrystalline structure of highly pure inert silicon and acts as a sealed source for the provision of 32 phosphorous. Tumours targeted with 32P BioSiliconTM are hypothesized to show a reduction in volume with a low incidence of side effects associated with the treatment. Prolongation of survival and improved quality of life would be favourable outcomes of the investigational product.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Cediranib maleate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving paclitaxel and carboplatin together with AZD2171 may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether giving paclitaxel and carboplatin together with AZD2171 is more effective than giving paclitaxel and carboplatin together with a placebo in treating non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II/III trial is studying how well giving paclitaxel and carboplatin together with cediranib maleate works and compares it to giving paclitaxel and carboplatin together with placebo in treating patients with stage III or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and effectiveness of GI262570 compared to placebo (a pill that looks exactly like GI262570 but contains no active medicine) in improving specific tests that indicate the degree of liver fibrosis (scarring). Subjects who are enrolled in the study must have had prior treatment with interferon (either pegylated or standard interferon) plus ribavirin for at least 12 weeks to treat their hepatitis C, but either failed to clear the virus or didn't tolerate the treatment.
The purpose of this study is to determine if the combination of Clopidogrel 75mg once daily (od) plus aspirin at 100mg daily (recommended dose) is as effective as oral anticoagulation therapy with a lower risk of bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation associated with at least one major cardiovascular risk factor.Primary objectives :The combination of clopidogrel plus aspirin compared to adjusted dose (INR between 2.0 and 3.3) oral anticoagulation (a vitamin K antagonist) will result in the same risk of the composite outcome of stroke, non-CNS systemic embolism, myocardial infarction or vascular death in patients with atrial fibrillation. The secondary objective is to establish whether or not aspirin plus clopidogrel has a lower risk of hemorrhage than standard anticoagulation therapy.
This study is being carried out to see if adding ZD1839 to other standard supportive care is more effective than standard supportive care alone for the treatment of patients with NSCLC whose disease has recurred after previous chemotherapy treatment.
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of a variable dose of Symbicort with a high fixed maintenance dose of another asthma medication, Seretide, in the treatment of asthma.
Primary Objectives: This a pilot project to determine the feasibility of the preemptive CD8+ depleted T-cell donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) in: - Reducing the incidence of graft versus host disease (GVHD) based on standard classification of acute and chronic GVHD - Improving hte disease remission rate in comparison with our previous study results. Secondary Objectives: - To investigate the impact of CD8+ depleted T-cell DLI in hematopoietic chimerism, and immunologic recovery of transplant patients.
The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of rimonabant 20 mg on HDL (high density lipoprotein) cholesterol and on TG (triglycerides) plasma levels over a period of one year when prescribed with a hypocaloric diet (600 kcal deficit per day) in abdominally obese patients with atherogenic dyslipidemia (low HDL and/or high TG plasma levels). The secondary objectives are to evaluate specific metabolic parameters, visceral fat (in selected sites), safety and tolerability of rimonabant 20 mg.
The aim of this clinical study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of Dysport® in patients with early onset of upper limb spasticity within 2-12 weeks after stroke.
