This study was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III study to determine the efficacy and safety of treatment with Buparlisib plus Fulvestrant vs. Placebo plus Fulvestrant in postmenopausal women with hormone Receptor-positive (HR-positive), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-negative), aromatase inhibitor (AI)-treated, locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer whose disease progressed on or after mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitor (mTORi)-based treatment. Patients were randomized in 2:1 ratio to treatment with buparlisib 100 mg daily in combination with fulvestrant 500 mg or placebo daily in combination with fulvestrant 500 mg. Randomization was stratified according to visceral disease status (present or absent).

Missed abortion is a condition where the fetus has perished but the miscarriage is not expelled. Women often present at a routine ultrasound or with a slight brownish discharge. Traditionally this condition has been treated with curettage or vacuum aspiration. Lately, medical treatment has become more common due to less risk of infection and other complications. The routine medical treatment is 800mcg of misoprostol administered vaginally. We wish to examine of repeated doses of 400mcg misoprostol after the initial 800mcg vaginal misoprostol increases efficacy of the treatment.

Randomized Study of Letrozole and Trilostane for Medical Abortion

In menstruation an effective shedding of the endometrial lining occurs. Both progesterone and estrogen levels fall sharply at this time. During medical abortion the endometrial shedding is sometimes ineffective causing an incomplete abortion which may cause prolonged bleeding or require surgical intervention. In medical abortion a progesterone antagonist is used as treatment but the estrogen levels are not targeted. The investigators wish to explore whether addition of letrozole or trilostane which target estrogen levels can lead to a more effective shedding of the endometrial lining.

Comparison of Microtrauma in Urethra After Usage of Different Catheters

The study is undertaken to investigate if the urethral microtrauma, caused by intermittent catheterization, differs between three hydrophilic catheters for intermittent catheterization, LoFric; SpeediCath (SC) and SpeediCath Compact Male (SCCM). The study is a prospective, randomised, cross-over, single-centre study. Each subject will be randomized to use three different catheter types. Three catheterizations will be performed with each catheter type during one day, with at least two hours between each catheterization. The washout period between catheter switch will be at least one week. The primary objective is to evaluate urethral microtrauma for three hydrophilic catheters with regards to hematuria after intermittent catheterization. The secondary objectives are to evaluate urethral microtrauma for three hydrophilic catheters with regards to pyuria and subjective evaluation after intermittent catheterization. The safety of the three catheters will be evaluated in terms of adverse advents, non-serious and serious, rated for causality. The hypothesis that level of hematuria is equal after using different catheters will be tested using Wilcoxon signed rank test. The hypothesis will be rejected if the p-value is less than 5%.

The main hypothesis of the study is that anaesthesia of the hip using infiltration with a local anesthetic solution is preferable over traditional analgesia with oral opioid medications in the acute stage of the management of patients with a fracture of the hip. To study the hypothesis the investigators designed a prospective randomised study where patients are assigned in two groups, the first receiving local hip anesthesia and the other placebo treatment. Both groups are eligible to use of standard oral pain treatment. Effect of analgesia as well as medical complications will be recorded.
