NCT ID: NCT00957086 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Squamous Cell of Head and Neck

Study of Post-Op Adjuvant Concurrent Chemo-RT With or Without Nimotuzumab for Head & Neck Cancer

Start date: August 13, 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to improve the loco-regional control rate and overall survival of locally advanced head and neck squamous carcinoma (HNSCC). The investigators hypothesize that the addition of nimotuzumab (a recombinant humanized murine immune antibody that blocks both epidermal growth factor (EGF) and transforming growth factor (TGF)) to the current gold standard of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) (7)(8), an adjuvant setting in patients after resection of their locally advanced HNSCC will confer therapeutic advantage.

NCT ID: NCT00956007 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Head and Neck Cancer

RT With or Without Cetuximab in Treating Patients Who Have Undergone Surgery for Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer

Start date: March 31, 2010
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Giving radiation therapy that uses a 3-dimensional (3-D) image of the tumor to help focus thin beams of radiation directly on the tumor, and giving radiation therapy in higher doses over a shorter period of time, may kill more tumor cells and have fewer side effects. Monoclonal antibodies, such as cetuximab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy is more effective when given alone or together with cetuximab in treating patients with head and neck cancer that has been removed by surgery. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying radiation therapy to see how well it works compared with radiation therapy given together with cetuximab in treating patients who have undergone surgery for locally advanced head and neck cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00950690 Completed - Glaucoma Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Tolerability of Xalatan in Patients

A6111128
Start date: July 2005
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Efficacy data was not collected or analyzed. This study did assess safety and tolerability of Xalatan.

NCT ID: NCT00949910 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

An Expanded Access Program of Tarceva (Erlotinib) in Participants With Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

Start date: November 2004
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study will provide treatment with erlotinib to participants with advanced NSCLC who have received at least one course of standard chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or who are not medically suitable for either. Efficacy and safety will be monitored throughout the study.

NCT ID: NCT00944424 Recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Phase III Trial of High Dose vs. Standard Dose Vit D2 With Docetaxel in Met Breast ca

GORG-002
Start date: July 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of High dose versus Standard dose of Vitamin D2 (Ergocalciferol) given with Docetaxel in patients with metastatic breast cancer

NCT ID: NCT00936208 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

PRO-POWER: Hypertension With Risk Factors for a Duration of 24 Weeks With Micardis 80mg/Micardis Plus 80mg/12.5mg

Start date: May 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

PRO-POWER is an observational cohort study for a period of 24 weeks. All recruited patients will have essential hypertension. In addition, the patients will have at least one other contributing risk factor for cardiovascular events. The study aims to evaluate the safety, efficacy and protection of Micardis 80mg/Micardis plus 80/12.5mg from cardiovascular risks in patients with essential hypertension

NCT ID: NCT00931736 Completed - Clinical trials for Latent Tuberculosis Infection

Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing 4RIF vs. 9INH for LTBI Treatment-effectiveness

Start date: August 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

On a global scale, tuberculosis (TB) is the single most important infectious cause of morbidity and mortality. The World Health Organization has estimated that one-third of the entire world's population carries latent TB infection. A key TB control strategy is therapy of latent TB infection (LTBI). The current standard regimen is 9 months of Isoniazid (9INH). This regimen has excellent efficacy if taken regularly, but its effectiveness is substantially reduced by poor compliance. Serious side effects, such as hepato-toxicity can occur. Three shorter alternatives have been recommended: 6 months INH (6INH), 2 months Rifampin - Pyrazinamide (2RIF-PZA) and 4 months Rifampin (4RIF). The regimen of 6INH is less efficacious than 9INH, while 2RIF-PZA has been largely abandoned because of serious toxicity. Based on some evidence in treatment of LTBI, and extrapolating from extensive experience with treatment of active TB, it is believed that 4RIF has similar efficacy as 9INH. Therefore, the investigators are initiating the first multi-site international randomized trial that will compare the effectiveness of 4RIF and 9INH in preventing active tuberculosis.

NCT ID: NCT00930488 Completed - Clinical trials for Acute Bacterial Sinusitis

NCT ID: NCT00929240 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

A Study of Avastin (Bevacizumab) + Xeloda (Capecitabine)as Maintenance Therapy in Patients With HER2-Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer

Start date: July 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This randomized study will compare maintenance therapy with Avastin (bevacizumab) + Xeloda (capecitabine) versus Avastin alone, in patients with HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer who have not progressed during first-line therapy with docetaxel + Avastin. Eligible patients will receive up to 6 x 3 week cycles of treatment with Avastin (15 mg/mg IV on Day 1 of each cycle) + docetaxel (75-100 mg/m2 IV on Day 1 of each cycle). Those patients who do not progress will be randomized to 3 week cycles of either a) Avastin (15 mg/kg IV on Day 1 of each cycle) + Xeloda (1000 mg/m2 po bid on Days 1-14 of each cycle) or b) Avastin alone. Study treatment will continue until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, patient request for withdrawal or end of study, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.
