Study of ARO-APOC3 in Adults With Dyslipidemia

This is an open-label extension of the parent studies AROAPOC3-2001 and AROAPOC3-2002. Adult participants with dyslipidemia who completed the blinded 12-month period from either parent study and continue to meet eligibility criteria have the option to be enrolled into this study. Eligible enrolled participants will initially receive open-label ARO-APOC3 at the assigned dose level until a final dose is selected, at which point all participants will be transitioned to the selected dosing regimen.

A Study of VERVE-101 in Patients With Familial Hypercholesterolemia and Cardiovascular Disease

VT-1001 is an open-label, phase 1b, single-ascending dose study that will evaluate the safety of VERVE-101 administered to patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH), atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), and uncontrolled hypercholesterolemia. VERVE-101 uses base-editing technology designed to disrupt the expression of the PCSK9 gene in the liver and lower circulating PCSK9 and LDL-C in patients with established ASCVD due to HeFH. This study is designed to determine the safety and pharmacodynamic profile of VERVE-101 in this patient population.

A Study to Find Out Whether BI 1015550 Improves Lung Function in People With Progressive Fibrosing Interstitial Lung Diseases (PF-ILDs)

This study is open to adults with Progressive Fibrosing Interstitial Lung Diseases (PF-ILDs). People who have a form of PF-ILD other than Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) can join the study. If they already take nintedanib, they can continue treatment throughout the study. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 1015550 helps people with PF-ILD. Participants are put into 3 groups randomly, which means by chance. Participants in 2 groups take different doses of BI 1015550 as tablets twice a day. Participants in the placebo group take placebo tablets twice a day. Placebo tablets look like BI 1015550 tablets but do not contain any medicine. Participants are in the study for up to two and a half years. During the first year, they visit the study site 10 times. Afterwards, they visit the study site every 3 months. The doctors regularly test participants' lung function. The results of the lung function tests are compared between the groups. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.

Cytisine and E-cigarettes With Supportive Text-messaging for Smoking Cessation (Cess@Tion)

This research focuses on maximizing the benefits of proven smoking cessation interventions to support people who smoke to quit, as part of the strategy to help New Zealand become smoke-free. A large, pragmatic community-based clinical trial is planned which draws on 15 years of smoking cessation research undertaken by the study team. This research has shown that both cytisine and nicotine e-cigarettes are more effective than nicotine replacement therapy at helping people to quit smoking, and are more acceptable to users. New Zealand research has also shown that text-messages offering advice and support around quitting smoking are highly effective and acceptable. The planned trial will test whether using cytisine and nicotine e-cigarettes together will help more New Zealanders to quit smoking long-term, compared to using cytisine alone or nicotine e-cigarettes alone. Participants in all three groups will also receive smoking cessation text-messaging behavioral support.
