NCT ID: NCT00187356 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Multicentre Radial Artery Patency Study: Results of Patency Beyond 5 Years After Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

RAPS - 5 years
Start date: July 2002
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Bypass surgery is often required to treat severe coronary heart disease. Either arteries or veins can be used as bypass grafts. We wish to compare the long-term durability of the saphenous vein from the leg to that of the radial artery from the fore-arm when used as bypass grafts. We are examining how many of these grafts are still functioning beyond 5 years after bypass surgery by performing a coronary angiogram. After 1-year, we found that radial arteries were more likely to be functioning than saphenous veins. We hypothesize that radial arteries will continue to be superior beyond 5 years.

NCT ID: NCT00182819 Completed - Clinical trials for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Radiation Therapy or Temozolomide in Treating Patients With Gliomas

Start date: July 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy is more effective than temozolomide in treating gliomas. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying radiation therapy to see how well it works compared to temozolomide in treating patients with gliomas.

NCT ID: NCT00182403 Completed - Pulmonary Embolism Clinical Trials

Fixed Dose Heparin Study

Start date: September 1998
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

FIDO was a multicentred randomized, open-label trial that compared fixed-dose UFH with fixed-dose LMWH for initial treatment of VTE. Patients were followed for 3 months during which they received warfarin (target INR 2.0-3.0).

NCT ID: NCT00180310 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

SPIRIT II: A Clinical Evaluation of the XIENCE V® Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System

SPIRIT II
Start date: July 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Prospective, randomized, active-control, single blind, parallel two-arm multi-center clinical trial comparing XIENCE V® Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System to the approved commercially available active control TAXUS™ EXPRESS2™ Paclitaxel Eluting Coronary Stent System. TAXUS™ EXPRESS2™ Paclitaxel Eluting Coronary Stent System is manufactured by Boston Scientific.

NCT ID: NCT00175877 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

A Study of the Safety and Effectiveness of Lyophilized Certolizumab Pegol in the Treatment of Signs and Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis and in Prevention of Joint Damage in Patients With Active Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: June 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

An open ended study in which patients who completed the double-blind study CDP870-027 [NCT00152386] are given Certolizumab Pegol (CZP) and assessed for signs and symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

NCT ID: NCT00175526 Completed - Toxemia Clinical Trials

Predicting Complications in Women With Toxaemia

Start date: September 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

At present, the management of pre-eclampsia is guided by expert opinions that are not well-based on firm evidence. What is required is a clinical tool that can accurately determine a women's risk for adverse outcomes, and thereby reduce the risk for women while safely prolonging pregnancies remote from term (to improve fetal outcomes). This research project, 'a severity score for pre-eclampsia,' will develop such a clinical tool that is specific to the condition. This severity score will be used clinically (to guide management) and in research (in both clinical trials and basic science research), and will provide an evidence base on which to build future practice, improving outcomes for pregnant women and their babies. In addition, this project is part of a three part strategy to better understand the mechanisms of disease in pre-eclampsia and to investigate a potential disease-modifying therapy, namely, recombinant human activated protein C.

NCT ID: NCT00174837 Completed - Clinical trials for Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

TRACE: Tirapazamine-Radiation And Cisplatin Evaluation

TRACE
Start date: April 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The trial will compare the efficacy and safety of concomitant chemoradiation with tirapazamine, cisplatin and radiation versus cisplatin and radiation.

NCT ID: NCT00174785 Completed - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

A Trial With Dronedarone to Prevent Hospitalization or Death in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation

ATHENA
Start date: June 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To assess the efficacy of dronedarone in preventing cardiovascular hospitalization or death from any cause in a population of high-risk patients with atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter (AF/AFL). To assess that dronedarone is well tolerated in this population.

NCT ID: NCT00174655 Completed - Breast Neoplasms Clinical Trials

BIG 02/98 Docetaxel - Breast Cancer

Start date: June 1998
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Primary objectives: - To compare Disease-Free Survival (DFS) of an adjuvant treatment with docetaxel given either sequentially or in combination with doxorubicin and followed by CMF to doxorubicin alone or in combination with cyclophosphamide and followed by CMF in operable breast cancer patients with positive axillary lymph nodes. Secondary objectives: - To compare DFS of an adjuvant treatment with doxorubicin followed by docetaxel followed by CMF to doxorubicin followed by CMF in operable breast cancer patients with positive axillary lymph nodes - To compare DFS of an adjuvant treatment with docetaxel in combination with doxorubicin followed by CMF to doxorubicin in combination with cyclophosphamide followed by CMF in operable breast cancer patients with positive axillary lymph nodes - To compare DFS of an adjuvant treatment with doxorubicin followed by docetaxel followed by CMF to doxorubicin in combination with docetaxel followed by CMF in operable breast cancer patients with positive axillary lymph nodes, (sequential mono-chemotherapy versus polychemotherapy). - To compare overall survival of treatment arms. - To compare toxicity of treatment arms. - To evaluate pathologic and molecular markers for predicting efficacy. - Socioeconomic data will be collected in order to be able to perform a socioeconomic analysis by country, when needed.

NCT ID: NCT00171340 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Zoledronic Acid in the Prevention of Cancer Treatment Related Bone Loss in Postmenopausal Women Receiving Letrozole for Breast Cancer.

Start date: May 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Post-menopausal breast cancer patients will receive letrozole 2.5 mg daily for the treatment of breast cancer and will be randomized to a treatment group to receive either upfront zoledronic acid 4 mg IV 15-minute infusion every 6 months or delayed start zoledronic acid 4 mg IV 15-minute infusion every 6 months. Delayed start zoledronic acid will be initiated when either the Bone Mineral Density T-score is below -2 Standard Deviations at either the lumbar spine or hip or any clinical fracture unrelated to trauma or an asymptomatic fracture discovered at the month 36 scheduled visit. Letrozole 2.5 mg will be given daily for 5 years.
