A Study of Chemotherapy and Ramucirumab Versus Chemotherapy Alone in Second Line Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) Participants Who Received Prior First Line Platinum-based Chemotherapy

Start date: December 2010
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to compare the survival of participants who receive chemotherapy and ramucirumab versus chemotherapy alone as second line treatment for NSCLC after prior first line platinum-based chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT01167881 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

Efficacy and Safety of Empagliflozin (BI 10773) With Metformin in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: August 2010
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a pivotal phase III study, mandatory to seek approval by regulatory authorities for BI 10773 as an anti-diabetic agent compared to an active comparator in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and insufficient glycaemic control.

NCT ID: NCT01166737 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Study Comparing Tumor Debulking Surgery Versus Chemotherapy Alone in Recurrent Platinum-Sensitive Ovarian Cancer

DESKTOPIII
Start date: July 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

It is still not clear whether a positive AGO-score just selects patients with less aggressive biologic tumor behavior who as well would have had a positive outcome by chemotherapy only, or , if it is a score selecting patients who really benefit from surgery. Nevertheless, the AGO-score was confirmed to select patients with a less than 30% risk of ending with residual tumor after surgery for recurrent disease. This could avoid including patients into the present surgical protocol who could not benefit from an operationThe goal of this third DESKTOP study is to evaluate in a prospectively randomized multicentre setting, whether maximum effort of cytoreductive surgery followed by platinum based combination chemotherapy can improve overall survival as compared to platinum based combination chemotherapy alone in AGO-score positive patients.

NCT ID: NCT01161277 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

Effects of Aripiprazole and Haloperidol on Mesolimbic System Functioning

Arip_200901
Start date: August 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The main objective is to investigate if the brain activation signature of a typical antipsychotic agent is dissociable from a newer drug with a pharmacological profile that differs from both typical and atypical antipsychotics since it is a potent partial D2 agonist. The method used to study this will be functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

NCT ID: NCT01160887 Completed - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Diabetes Peripheral Neuropathy and Small-fibre Nerve Damage: A Comparative Study

Start date: June 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether patients with diabetes-related peripheral neuropathic pain also have non-recognized damage to the intestine caused by autonomic neuropathy. The model will shed light on aspects of peripheral nerve injuries on both somatic and as well as visceral sensory nerves. Classical autonomic parameters from electrocardiography (ECG) and Holter (24-h ECG and blood pressure) are compared with peripheral nerve injuries. The damage of autonomic nerves often recognized late in the course when patients develop gastroparesis, however an earlier recognition of this nerve damage may help clarifying the fundamental pathomechanisms and thereby optimize treatment for this patient group in the future.

NCT ID: NCT01160211 Completed - Neoplasms, Breast Clinical Trials

A Study to Compare the Safety and Efficacy of an Aromatase Inhibitor in Combination With Lapatinib, Trastuzumab or Both for the Treatment of Hormone Receptor Positive, HER2+ Metastatic Breast Cancer

Start date: May 5, 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

A study to compare the safety and efficacy of an aromatase inhibitor in combination with lapatinib, trastuzumab or both for the treatment of hormone receptor positive, HER2+ metastatic breast cancer (MBC).

NCT ID: NCT01158339 Completed - Low Back Pain Clinical Trials

Dare to Move: Treatment of Movement Phobia in Patient With Low Back Pain

Ryggbra
Start date: January 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Unspecific low back pain (LBP) is a major world wide health problem. The purpose of this study is to improve the care of LBP. Our hypothesis is that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with physical intervention during group sessions focusing on fear and avoidance behaviour will be more effective than physical therapy alone. The study has two arms. Both will receive education related to LBP and appropriate advice regarding how to react and behave towards their LBP. The main focus in the intervention group will be: - Identifying their fear of movements and perform the frightened movements during the group sessions. - Reassuring that gradually normalizing daily activities will not be harmful but rather reduce their pain.

NCT ID: NCT01156922 Terminated - Clinical trials for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

B-cell Depletion Using the Monoclonal Anti-CD20 Antibody Rituximab in Very Severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Start date: June 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Based on pilot patient observations, and experience from the prior study KTS-1-2008, the investigators anticipate that severely affected chronic fatigue syndrome patients may benefit from B-cell depletion therapy using Rituximab induction with maintenance treatment. The hypothesis is that at least a subset of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) patients have an activated immune system involving B-lymphocytes, and that prolonged B-cell depletion may alleviate symptoms. An approved amendment (April 15th 2011): the study will be extended with up to 5 patients. For up to 5 patients in the study, standard plasma exchange may be performed 2-3 weeks prior to start of B-lymphocyte depletion using Rituximab (as in the protocol). Approved amendment (December 2011): for patients with gradual improvement in CFS/ME symptoms after 12 months follow-up, but not having reached a clear response, up to 6 additional Rituximab infusions (500 mg/m2, max 1000 mg) may be given during the following 12 months period.

NCT ID: NCT01156909 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

B-cell Depletion Using the Monoclonal Anti-CD20 Antibody Rituximab in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Start date: October 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Based on pilot patient observations, and experience from the prior study KTS-1-2008, the investigators anticipate that chronic fatigue syndrome patients may benefit from B-cell depletion therapy using Rituximab induction with maintenance treatment. The hypothesis is that at least a subset of CFS patients have an activated immune system involving B-lymphocytes, and that prolonged B-cell depletion may alleviate symptoms.
