The primary objective of this study is to analyse the concentration dopamine and serotonin in thrombocytes of patients with renal cell carcinoma and neuro-endocrine tumours compared to the concentrations of these catecholamines in healthy volunteers. The concentration dopamine and serotonin in thrombocytes with and without medication will also be evaluated.

Peripheral Perfusion Targeted Fluid Management

- Impaired peripheral perfusion is related to worse outcome in critically ill patients. Although this is known, these parameters have never been used as target for hemodynamic therapy. - We hypothesize that targeting of fluid administration on parameters of peripheral perfusion might prevent excessive fluid administration, leading to less formation of tissue edema, less respiratory dysfunction and shorter duration of mechanical ventilation in critically ill patients.

- SDF is validated by measuring changes in microcirculation in sepsis patients with MOF (Boerma studies). - SDF is validated by measuring changes in microcirculation in stable chronic hemodialysis patients (NDT 2009 Bemelmans). - Ultrafiltration in stable chronic hemodialysis leads to a decrease in sublingual microcirculatory flow (NDT 2009 Bemelmans). - Trendelenburg position improves the sublingual microcirculatory flow at the end of hemodialysis treatment (NDT 2009 Bemelmans). - Hemodialysis with ultrafiltration leads to a significant reduction of myocardial perfusion and cardiac output (NDT 2009 Dasselaar) - Cardiac output measurement during dialysis is not practical. - BVM is a validated method for hypotension due to ultrafiltration to prevent the amount of ultrafiltration online change based on the measured haemoconcentration (ref Dasselaar et al NDT 2005). - BCM is a validated measurement to the dry weight in hemodialysis patients measured by a bioimpedance technique (NDT Passauer et al 2009).

Bosentan in Systemic Sclerosis

The effect of bosentan on digital ulcers (DU) was studied in two randomized placebo-controlled trials (RAPIDS-1 and RAPIDS-2). A limitation of these studies was the heterogeneous study population. More importantly, there were no endpoints that assessed changes in vasculopathy and / or perfusion. Laser Doppler imaging has been shown to effectively demonstrate blood flow restrictions in the hands of patients with Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). The relation between blood flow restriction in the hands measured by laser Doppler imaging and the extent of DU disease has not been studied. The current study will attempt to demonstrate this relation. In addition, the impact of bosentan on the blood flow in the hands, in a defined cohort of SSc-DU patients with a history of DU within the past 2 years and a clinically relevant reduction of blood flow in the hands, will be assessed.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether remote ischemic conditioning can improve the outcome after renal transplantation with deceased donor. Remote ischemic conditioning is performed on the patient receiving a kidney from a deceased donor. Remote ischemic conditioning is done during the operation by inflating a tourniquet on the patients leg before opening the blood circulation to the kidney. The study focus on both the immediate kidney function after the transplantation, but also on the extended kidney function one year after the transplantation.

Bioequivalence Study Comparing Two Formulations of Escitalopram

This is a bioequivalence study, which is a regulatory requirement to ensure comparable in vivo performance, i.e. similarities in terms of safety and efficacy, after administration of two different dosage forms of escitalopram. All subjects will receive three separate dosages of 20 mg escitalopram, which are 2 x 10 mg of the conventional dosage form (Treatment A) and 2 x 10 mg of the new dosage form being tested (Treatment B) and 1 x 20 mg of the new dosage form being tested (Treatment C). Test treatments B and C will each be compared to Treatment A, which is the active comparator (reference formulation).
