Ideally, the inflammatory response is modulated leading to both adequate protection to invading pathogens as well as limitation of an exuberant immune response. In the last years, experimental evidence has been accumulating that enteral administration of lipid-enriched nutrition attenuates inflammation and preserves organ integrity in several inflammatory models. The current study investigates the immune-modulating potential of enriched enteral nutrition in a human setting of experimental endotoxemia.
Psoriasis is a chronic, often severe, autoimmune condition that affects approximately 2% of the world's population. The epidemiology of pediatric psoriasis has not been well documented and no treatment guidelines exist for pediatric psoriasis. Etanercept is a biologic drug and has been licensed for the treatment of chronic severe plaque psoriasis in children and adolescents (6-17 years of age) who are inadequately controlled by or are intolerant to, other systemic therapies or phototherapies. Although the long-term safety and efficacy of etanercept in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) has been studied and the short-term safety profile of etanercept in both JIA and pediatric psoriasis appears similar, there is limited data available about the long-term effects of etanercept in pediatric psoriasis, especially with respect to malignancy. The aim of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of etanercept for the treatment of pediatric psoriasis in Europe. Patients aged <=17 with plaque psoriasis diagnosed by a dermatologist will be invited to participate in the registry only after a clinical decision has been made to prescribe etanercept. The safety of the drug and how well the drug works will be evaluated during the follow-up period. The follow-up period will last 5 years and patients will be followed up every 3 months for the first 2 years and every 6 months for the next 3 years or until the end of study.

To document the benefit of various treatment regimens currently employed in managing FGID. To assess the short- and long-term impact of various FGID regimens. To allow physicians to gain a better understanding of the epidemiology of FGID. Hypothesis: There are presenting symptoms or results from diagnostic tests that are more likely to associated with conditions different from FAP or IBS. Symptoms of children with FAP/IBS change overtime regardless of the treatments used.
In order to prevent excessive blood loss during liver surgery, an intermittent Pringle manoeuvre (IPM) can be applied. This implies a temporary clamping of the portal vein and hepatic artery in the hepatoduodenal ligament in order to occlude hepatic inflow. The optimal duration of the IPM is unknown. This randomized controlled trial aimed to analyse differences in hepatocellular damage after 15 minutes or 30 minutes IPM during liver surgery for primary or secondary liver tumours.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride, cyclophosphamide, docetaxel, and zoledronic acid, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective when given together with zoledronic acid in treating patients with breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving doxorubicin hydrochloride together with cyclophosphamide and docetaxel to see how well it works with or without zoledronic acid in treating patients with large resectable or locally advanced breast cancer.
