Fragility Fractures of the Pelvis (FFP)

Prospective data will be collected in approximately 420 patients, above the age of 65, suffering from an FFP type fracture equal to or higher than type II, according to Rommens and Hofmann. Patients will be followed up according to the standard (routine) for up to 1 year after the treatment. Data collection will include underlying disease, treatment details, functional and patient reported outcomes (PRO)s, radiological outcomes, and anticipated or procedure-related adverse events (i.e. complications).

Parkinson Disease (PD) is a heterogeneous, progressive neurodegenerative disorder which is characterized by a variety of motor and non-motor symptoms. The DUPARC study is a single-centre longitudinal cohort study aimed at deeply phenotyping newly diagnosed PD patients. The main aim is to investigate the relationship between cognitive impairment and both cholinergic and dopaminergic neurodegeneration in the early stages of the disease. In addition, gastrointestinal and visual system dysfunction in PD and their role in the underlying pathology are further explored in a longitudinal setup. Treatment-naïve participants will undergo extensive motor- and non-motor assessment, imaging, and microbiome assessment at time of diagnosis, and will be followed for at least 3 years.

This study evaluates the benefits and harms of goal directed fluid removal with furosemide versus placebo in critical ill adult patients with fluid overload in the intensive care unit. Half of the patients will receive furosemide and the other half placebo. The treatment will continue until the excess fluid is excreted.

Improving Gait Adaptability in Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia

This study evaluates the effects of ten hours C-mill training on gait adaptability in participants with hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP). Half of the participants start with five weeks of C-mill training (ten 1-hour sessions). The other participants are placed on a waiting list, which is followed by the same five weeks of C-mill training (ten 1-hour sessions). It is hypothesized that ten hours of context specific C-mill training is effective in improving gait adaptability in participants with pure HSP.

Diagnostic Yield of Colonoscopy Surveillance in Testicular Cancer Survivors Treated With Platinum-based Chemotherapy

Testicular cancer (TC) survivors treated with platinum-based chemotherapy have an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) (hazard ratio (HR) 3.9 for platinum-containing chemotherapy versus no platinum-containing chemotherapy, 95% confidence interval 1.7-8.9). Colonoscopy screening can reduce CRC incidence and mortality. Given this increased risk of CRC, colonoscopy surveillance should be considered for TC survivors treated with platinum-based chemotherapy. The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic yield of advanced colorectal neoplasia during colonoscopy surveillance in TC survivors treated with platinum-based chemotherapy. The secondary objectives are to determine cost-effectiveness and burden of colonoscopy. Furthermore, the molecular profile of advanced neoplasia will be evaluated to create insight into the carcinogenesis. The effectiveness of fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) will be evaluated with colonoscopy as a reference. Finally, blood plasma platinum-levels will be determined to examine a potential correlation with the outcome of the ccolonoscopy.

Study of Subcutaneous (SC) Belimumab in Pediatric Participants With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, and pharmacodynamics (PD) of repeat doses of 200 milligrams per milliliter (mg/mL) belimumab administered via SC injection in pediatric participants 5 to 17 years of age with SLE on a background of standard of care therapy. This bridging PK study is part of an extrapolation strategy to support the use of SC belimumab in pediatric SLE participants, based on the completed adult SLE study with SC belimumab and the pediatric SLE study with intravenous (IV) belimumab. Part A is an open label 12-week treatment phase where participants will be enrolled and allocated to treatment cohorts based on their body weight at baseline. The dose and dosing regimens selected for SC administration in this pediatric population are intended to achieve a similar average exposure as observed with the weekly 200 mg SC dosing regimen in adult SLE patients. Part B is an optional 40-week open-label continuation phase, open to all participants who have completed Part A. Dosing of SC belimumab may continue at the same frequency in Part B or may require a change in frequency according to changes in participant body weight. The total duration of the study will be 68 weeks including a 12-Week open label treatment phase (Part A), an optional 40-week open-label continuation phase (Part B) and 16-week follow-up.

Postprandial Effects of Milk Fats

Nowadays, mostly vegetable fat blends are used in infant formula, but the use of bovine milk fat is increasing. In terms of fat structure, bovine milk fat and vegetable fats differ. Bovine milk fat has a higher percentage of palmitic acid attached to the sn-2 position of the glycerol backbone compared to vegetable fat blend. Also bovine milk fat contains milk fat globular membranes, as opposed to vegetable fat. With this study the investigators want to examine the effects of a vegetable fat blend versus bovine milk fat without globular membranes and bovine milk fat with globular membranes on underlying mechanistic, immune and metabolic responses.
