Speckle Tracking Echocardiography as a Tool for Early Diagnosis of Impaired Fetal Growth Twin Pregnancies

In this project there are 2 time points during the pregnancy included, namely at 21 weeks and 30 weeks of gestation, to measure the predictive values of FGR, strain and strain rate. The fetal growth parameters will be collected at the same time points, to define the growth (differences) throughout gestation of both fetuses. A maternal blood sample will be taken at 21 weeks of gestation to identify the level of exposure to air pollution (black carbon) and the level of biochemical markers of placental dysfunction. Doppler ultrasounds will be used for antenatal identification of placenta insufficiency. At birth, umbilical cord blood and the placenta will be collected. The placenta will be examined, to identify morphological findings which are associated with FGR. The umbilical cord blood and placental biopsy will be used for the level of exposure to air pollution and the level of oxidative stress. One to three days after birth, neonatal strain and strain rate will be measured to define postnatal cardiac remodeling as well as the neonatal blood pressure as cardiovascular risk factor.

Clinical Feasibility of ROBERT-SAS in Severely Impaired Stroke Patients

Robotic training can be used to provide intensive training during the (early phases of) rehabilitation of a stroke. ROBERT®-SAS training is designed to create an active and intensive training tool for the rehabilitation of the lower extremity of stroke patients. Currently this has only be tested in a lab-based setting, which showed that is was feasible and could be executed while still being comfortable for the patient. The next step will be implementing the device in a clinical setting. Therefore, aims the current study to assess the feasibility of ROBERT®-SAS training in clinical setting, in acute stroke patients.

Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has shown to be an effective treatment for patients with persistent spinal pain syndrome Type 2 (PSPS Type 2). The method used to deliver electrical charge in SCS is important. One such method is burst stimulation. Two variations of burst waveforms are currently in use: one that employs active recharge and one that uses passive recharge. It is still unknown if there are clinical differences between active recharge and passive recharge burst SCS. To date, no clinical studies have been performed that directly compared these two burst stimulation waveforms. The objective of this Randomized Clinical Trial (RCT) is to assess and compare effect of passive recharge burst SCS with active recharge burst SCS on pain relief and motivational-emotional facets of pain

The purpose of this study is to determine if the SP-GRIPFLOW catheter (the catheter designed by Fuji Systems) is safe and how well it functions. The information from this research will be used to help decide if the device should be approved for sale in the European Union. The SP-GRIPFLOW catheter may not yet be used by investigators outside of the study. Through the study, FUJI will prove that the target flow as measured by the flow through the catheter(s)(cumulative flow for multiple catheters) was confirmed in 95% of cases.

Functional imaging of paragangliomas (PGLs) is not unequivocal. Existing functional imaging modalities show good but variable results in PGLs, warranting the search for additional molecular imaging targets. Investigators aim to evaluate the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) as a novel target for molecular imaging of PGLs. For this purpose investigators will use the tracer 68Ga-NODAGA-exendin 4 for positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging.
