There are about 13332 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Netherlands. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The standard treatment for post operative pain is now bupivacaine + sufentanil. The use of this combination during fast-track colonic surgery leads frequently to post-operative nausea and vomiting and limited mobilisation possibilities. Therefore the department anaesthesiology wants to evaluate the use of a different local anaesthetic: levobupivacaine combined with morphine on demand. The expectation is that the use of levobupivacaine leads to less side effects.
Respiratory muscle dysfunction in critically ill patients is associated with elevated morbidity, including prolonged weaning from mechanical ventilation. The causes for respiratory muscle dysfunction in these patients is poorly understood and no effective treatment is available. The general hypothesis of the present study is that in critically ill mechanically ventilated subjects respiratory muscle dysfunctions results from loss of myosin induced by activation of proteolytic cascades.
The purpose of this study is to look at the efficacy (how does it work) and safety of gadobutrol when used for obtaining MR images of both breasts.Women with a recent diagnosis of breast cancer by mammogram (X-ray examination of the breasts) may benefit from MRI of the breasts as MRI may detect additional breast cancers
The investigators recently found a positive effect of omega-3 supplements on cognitive function in healthy individuals after 4 weeks (J of Psychopharmacology 2009, 23: 831-840). The investigators hypothesize that 4 weeks consumption of omega-3 supplements in previously depressed individuals will positively affect their cognitive functions. Secondly, low Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Some studies have found low HRV in patients with depression. No studies have investigated the effects of omega-3 fatty acid supplements on Heart Rate Variability in individuals with a history of depression. The investigators will test the hypotheses that omega-3 supplements lead to an improvement of heart rate variability indices in healthy volunteers with a history of depression.
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multi-center phase III study to evaluate efficacy and safety of regorafenib in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) who have progressed on/after all approved drugs for CRC
Varicose vein disease is a common health problem, which causes much discomfort to patients. Nowadays treatment modalities for greater saphenous veins include surgery and duplex guided foam sclerotherapy. These are two equally accepted and applied treatments for the same patient population. Choice of treatment often depends on the referral preference of the General Practitioner. Until now data are missing which treatment is more cost effective. The current proposal aims at comparing the effects, costs and patient preferences between duplex guided foam sclerotherapy and surgery in the treatment of greater varicose veins.
The purpose of the study is to determine patient characteristics from patients that have used Iressa for a period of minimal 3 years.
The aim of this study is to accurately assess the relationship between knee joint kinematics and migration of the tibial component of a high congruent, rotating platform total knee prosthesis by using fluoroscopy synchronised in time and space with a force plate, an external motion registration system and Electromyography (EMG).
Study of Plitidepsin in combination with dexamethasone versus dexamethasone alone in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma.
The objective of this registry is to compile clinical data on the use of the Evolution® Colonic Stent System for the palliative treatment of colonic obstruction or strictures caused by malignant neoplasms and to relieve acute large bowel obstruction prior to colectomy in patients with malignant strictures.
