There are about 2118 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Malaysia. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a randomized, controlled multi-site, multi-national clinical trial conducted in Thailand and Malaysia for Asian adults (males or females), 18 years of age and older presenting with advanced HCC (BCLC stage C) including subjects with macrovascular involvement and/or extrahepatic spread (not eligible for TACE, surgery or locoregional treatment) with Child-Pugh stage A or B liver function. 150 subjects will be randomized 2:1 to AlloStim® immunotherapy vs Physician's Choice of Sorafenib, Lenvatinib or FOLFOX4.
This study is conducted to see if ziltivekimab reduces the risk of having cardiovascular events (for example heart attack and stroke) in people with cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and inflammation. Participants will either get ziltivekimab (active medicine) or placebo (a dummy medicine which has no effect on the body). This is known as the study medicine. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants chance of getting ziltivekimab or placebo is the same. Ziltivekimab is not yet approved in any country or region in the world. It is a new medicine doctors cannot prescribe. Participants will get the study medicine in a pre filled syringe. Participants will need to use the pre filled syringe to inject the study medicine into a skinfold once-monthly. The study is expected to last for up to 4 years. Participants will have up to 20 clinic visits. Participants will have blood and urine samples taken at most of the clinic visits. Participants will have their heart examined using sound waves (echocardiography) and electrodes (electrocardiogram). Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to get pregnant during the study period.
A Phase 2 study to evaluate the efficacy of nanatinostat in combination with valganciclovir in patients with relapsed/refractory EBV-positive lymphomas
The specific aim of the study will be to investigate the incidences and risk factors for postoperative delirium (POD) after hip fracture surgery in elderly patients aged ≥ 65 years in five different Southeast and East Asian countries. The secondary objectives are outlined below: 1. To investigate factors in the hospital environments, such as noise levels, ambient lighting, nursing ratios, ward bedding and climate control, that contribute to similarities and/or differences in POD occurrences in different countries and health systems 2. To investigate patient factors, such as disease burden, mental health, education levels, and socioeconomic factors, that contribute to similarities and/or differences in POD occurrences in different countries and health systems 3. To quantify the direct and indirect costs, as well as resource utilization, resulting from the development of POD in each country
Pneumonia is the most common infection in intensive care unit (ICU) patients and occurs in 10% of all ICU admissions. Unfortunately, ICU patient outcomes remain poor with a high mortality rate associated with pneumonia despite recent therapeutic advances. Previous studies of antibiotics used in ICU patients, which includes ceftriaxone, meropenem and piperacillin/tazobactam, have quantified major differences in pharmacokinetics (PK) between ICU and non-ICU patients, with ICU patients displaying a unique spectrum of plasma concentration-time profiles. These PK differences can lead to suboptimal antibiotic concentrations in blood, which have been associated with a reduced likelihood of clinical cure for pneumonia. Furthermore, highlighting the importance of optimised dosing for pneumonia is that multi-drug resistant (MDR) pathogens emerge during antibiotic therapy in approximately half of the ICU patients, frequently emerging from the lung. Previous work has highlighted how infection site concentrations determine patient outcome. For pneumonia, the infection site is best described as the epithelial lining fluid (ELF) in the lung. Although optimal antibiotic therapy should be considered a priority for ICU patients with pneumonia to improve the persisting poor outcomes, the dosing regimens that can achieve therapeutic concentrations at the infection site (i.e., ELF) in ICU patients with pneumonia remain unknown. The PNEUDOS study aims to address this significant knowledge gap by defining novel individualised dosing regimens that can maximise antibiotic efficacy by achieving therapeutic concentrations in the blood and ELF of ICU patients with pneumonia. These dosing regimens can then be validated in future clinical trials.
Self-testing with easy-to-use rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) has been successfully used for diseases such as HIV. The availability of self-testing has been shown to increase testing rates and testing acceptability in diverse populations around the world, in large part due to its convenience and privacy advantages. Self-testing has also been effectively used to reach key populations who may not be covered by traditional healthcare programs, such as persons who inject drugs and men who have sex with men. In Malaysia, HIV self-testing has been shown to have moderate to high levels of acceptability, depending on the population, test used, and test delivery framework. In the present study we aim to evaluate the acceptability and impact of an online program enabling home-based hepatitis C virus (HCV) self-testing in Malaysia.
Participants are being asked to participate in SELECT-LIFE study because participants take part in the SELECT trial. SELECT-LIFE study is a survey-based study that will start when the SELECT trial ends. SELECT-LIFE looks at the long-term effects of participants taking part in the SELECT trial including the trial medicine participants have been taking. When the SELECT trial ends, participants will no longer get the medicine participants got in the study, even if participants decide to take part in the SELECT-LIFE study. Participants will not get any specific treatment or medicine as part of the SELECT-LIFE study, and participants will be treated as participants normally would by their own doctor. The SELECT-LIFE study will last for up to 10 years after SELECT trial ends, and participants will be asked to fill in a questionnaire about their health every 6 months.
This is a Phase III, global, randomized, open-label, multicenter, study evaluating the efficacy and safety of adjuvant giredestrant compared with endocrine therapy of physician's choice in participants with medium- and high-risk Stage I-III histologically confirmed estrogen receptor (ER)-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative early breast cancer. In addition, an open-label exploratory substudy will explore the safety and efficacy of giredestrant in combination with abemaciclib in a subset of the primary study population.
Low back pain is a common health problem where over than half a billion people worldwide suffers from it. In Malaysia, back pain is among the top ten reasons why people see a doctor. Although there are many guidelines available, healthcare professionals still find managing low back pain as challenging. The Decision Support System for Low Back Pain (DeSSBack) has been developed by adopting and re-packaging STaRT system, incorporate with the local clinical practice guidelines and feedback from local experts. It aims to aid healthcare professionals in managing low back pain through a stratified approach. The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of DeSSBack in improving the management of patients with low back pain in a primary care clinic. We hypothesise that the implementation of DeSSBack will improve the outcomes of low back pain patients including quality of life, emotional state and level of pain. This study protocol presents the rationale and design of a cluster randomized controlled trial.
This is a long-term follow-up study to assess durability of efficacy, as measured by SVR, in participants who have received prior treatment with GSK3228836 and achieved a complete or partial response. No further treatment with GSK3228836 will be administered in this study.
