NCT ID: NCT00610272 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Optimization of Radiotherapy in Treatment of Painful Bone Metastasis

bone mets
Start date: January 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Bone metastasis is one of the most frequent end complications of the cancer. Radiation therapy is the mainstay of treatment in this disease. Single fraction radiotherapy in both single and multiple bone metastasis is widely used, but optimization of the single dose fractionation is needed. Two different regimens of radiotherapy dose fractionation will be investigated in both single and multiple bone metastasis and endpoints will include pain relief as well as toxicity and quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT00609895 Completed - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

The Incidence of Hypoglycemia in Insulin Glargine-Treated Subjects With Diabetes Mellitus Upon Switching Between Bedtime and Morning Dosing

Start date: January 2004
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

To compare the percentage of subjects with a glucose measurement < than or = to 56 mg/dL at any point of the 8-point glucose profiles during 3 consecutive days before vs. 3 consecutive days after switching insulin glargine dosing time from bedtime to morning and vs. 3 consecutive days after switching back to bedtime dosing of insulin glargine.

NCT ID: NCT00609518 Completed - Clinical trials for Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

A Study for Patients With Non-Squamous Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: February 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Chemotherapy for patients with non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer. Patients are given folic acid, vitamin B12 and steroids, both before and during treatment, to reduce the side effects associated with pemetrexed. The aim is whether it is possible to simplify the folic acid and steroid schedule without increasing toxicity.

NCT ID: NCT00605735 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis, NOS

PoC in Rheumatoid Arthritis With Methotrexate

Start date: March 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to find out if 300 mg of BMS-582949 given once daily will be more effective than placebo after 12 weeks of treatment in subjects with rheumatoid arthritis who are also taking methotrexate

NCT ID: NCT00605683 Completed - Clinical trials for Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease

MOTION, Safinamide in Early IPD, as add-on to Dopamine Agonist

MOTION
Start date: November 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Parkinson's disease is a major neurodegenerative disorder in which there is a progressive loss of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons. The understanding that PD is a syndrome of dopamine (DA) deficiency led to the introduction in the clinical practice of L-dopa, a precursor of DA that crosses the blood brain barrier, and also to the use of selective inhibitors of MAO B, the major DA metabolising enzyme in man. This is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, randomised, multi-centre, multi national, Phase III trial, comparing two doses of safinamide (50 and 100 mg p.o. q.a.m.) versus placebo as add-on therapy to a stable dose of a single dopamine agonist in subjects with early idiopathic Parkinson's Disease. The principal efficacy measure, i.e., change in mean value of UPDRS - Section III total score from baseline to endpoint, was chosen based on regulatory guidance and prior use in other trials in similar populations.

NCT ID: NCT00604214 Completed - Sepsis Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety of Drotrecogin Alfa (Activated) in Adult Patients With Septic Shock

Start date: March 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this placebo-controlled study is to determine if drotrecogin alfa (activated) treatment provides significant mortality reduction improvement in patients with septic shock compared with placebo treatment in patients receiving the current standard of care for septic shock. This study will also assess the effectiveness of drotrecogin alfa (activated) in reducing 28-day mortality in patients with septic shock and concomitant severe protein C deficiency.

NCT ID: NCT00603746 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

A Randomized Study To Evaluate The Efficacy And Safety Of An Investigational Drug In Adolescent And Adult Subjects With Asthma Uncontrolled on Moderate-Dose ICS Therapy.

Start date: December 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is designed to determine if the investigational drug is effective and safe in individuals with asthma.

NCT ID: NCT00603655 Terminated - Obesity Clinical Trials

Effect of Glycemic Load on Body Composition

Start date: January 2007
Phase: Phase 0
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to compare the effects of diets with different glycemic load (GL) on body composition and biochemical markers in overweight and obese subjects during a 12-month period.

NCT ID: NCT00603499 Completed - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Magnesium and Metabolic Syndrome

Start date: July 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Objective : to test the BP lowering-effect of oral magnesium supplementation, as magnesium chloride (MgCl2) solution, 2.5 g daily, in uncomplicated hypertensive type 2 diabetic subjects with decreased serum magnesium levels Design : Randomised double blind placebo controlled trial. Setting : Outpatients with type 2 diabetes from Durango, city in northern Mexico Subjects : 82 subjects between 40 and 75 years of age with type 2 diabetes serum magnesium deficiency and uncomplicated hypertension. Interventions : During 4 months the intervention group received 2.5 gr of magnesium chloride (50 ml of a solution containing 50 gr of MgCl2 by 1000 ml of solution ). Controls received inert placebo. Main outcome measure: Change in blood pressure. Increase of serum magnesium Secondary outcomes measures: Changes in lipid profile
