Research Study to Look at How Well the Drug Concizumab Works in Your Body if You Have Haemophilia With Inhibitors

This study will test how well a new medicine called concizumab works in the body of people with haemophilia A or B with inhibitors. The purpose is to show that concizumab can prevent bleeds in the body and is safe to use. Participants who usually only take medicine to treat bleeds (on-demand) will be placed in one of two groups. In one group, participants will get study medicine from the start of the study. In the other group, participants will continue with their normal medicine and get study medicine after 6 months. Which treatment the participant gets is decided by chance. Participants who usually take medicine to prevent bleeds (prophylaxis treatment) or who are already being treated with concizumab (study medicine) will receive the study medicine from the start of the study. Participants will get 1 injection with the study medicine every day under the skin. This participants will have to do themselves and can be done at home. The study doctor will hand out the medicine in the form of a pen-injector. The pen-injector will contain the study medicine. The study will last for about six years. The length of time the participants will be in the study depends on when they agreed to take part or when the medicine is available for purchase in their country (12 November 2025 at the latest). Participants will have to come to the clinic for up to 41 times. The time between visits will be approximately 4 weeks for the first 6 to 12 months, depending on the group participants are in and approximately 8 weeks for the rest of the study. Participants will be asked to record information into an electronic diary during the study and may also be asked to wear an activity tracker.

The length of time the participant will be in the study depends on when they agreed to take part or when the medicine is available for purchase in their country (21 April 2026 at the latest). Participants will have to come to the clinic for up to 40 times. The time between visits will be approximately 4 weeks for the first 6 to 12 months depending on the group participants are in, and approximately 8 weeks for the rest of the study. If the participant attends extra visits due to the prescription medicine not being available for purchase in their country, these will be 14 weeks apart. Participants will be asked to record information in an electronic diary during the study and may also be asked to wear an activity tracker.

Treatment of Peritonitis in Automated Peritoneal Dialysis

The main infectious complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD) is bacterial peritonitis, which increases morbidity, mortality and conversion to hemodialysis. In Mexico, 485 patients per million people undergo PD. The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) reported 55,101 patients with kidney failure, 59% on PD. Automated PD (APD) has contributed by reducing peritonitis. The treatment of peritonitis in APD is carried out by changing to continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) or by adding a CAPD/day replacement, increasing costs and delaying treatment. OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy of peritonitis antibiotic treatment applied in a DPA bag versus applied in a CAPD/day replacement plus APD in IMSS beneficiaries. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A non-inferiority, multicenter clinical trial was carried out with patients> 18 years of age in APD with peritonitis. Group 1 (g1) receives antibiotics in DPA bags, group 2 (g2) receives antibiotics in a CAPD / day exchange plus APD. The antibiotics applied were ceftazidime 1500 mg / day 14 days and vancomycin 20 mg / kg every 3 days, 5 doses adjusted according to culture, followed by cytology every 48 hours until clinical resolution. Considering resolved peritonitis when symptoms disappeared and white blood cells <100 cells / mm3 were obtained in cytology. The Research and Ethics Committee approved the study. Relative risk (RR), relative risk reduction (RRR) were calculated. The Chi squared test, Student's t test, non-inferiority analysis was calculated considering p <0.05 significant, SPSS 24 and Epi Info were used.

Amniotic Membrane in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the most frequent mononeuropathy. CTS is more frequent in females than in males, it has been associated to work activities, hormone exposure and obesity. Although its primary treatment is conservative, there is strong evidence that patients who retard surgery are more prone to develop worse outcomes. Surgery to treat CTS consists in liberating carpal tunnel in order to ameliorate median nerve symptoms; however, more than 20% of patients who undergo surgery have recurrent CTS (RCTS). RCTS is due to a fibrotic process in the site of the surgery. Amniotic membrane (AM) is the inner layer of the placenta which has been used to treat different pathologies. AM transplantation (AMT) has demonstrated to significantly inhibit inflammation and fibrosis. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the effect of AMT in CTS surgery. The present is a randomized, open labeled, controlled clinical study. The investigators included patients with recent diagnosis of CTS and divided into two groups. The experimental group received AMT concomitantly with conventional surgery; whilst, the control group received only the conventional surgery. Clinical status of patients measured with the BCTQ questionaire was the main outcome. Both groups showed similar BCTQ punctuation at the beginning of the study. However, the results of the experimental group were significantly better than those from the control group through time, until the finish of the study. None of the patients presented complications or adverse effects related to the AMT. These results indicate that AMT is a secure and suitable treatment for CTS presenting better clinical outcomes at one-year follow-up.

Combined Antioxidant Therapy on Oxidative Stress in Aqueous and Vitreous Humor of Diabetic Retinopathy Patients

The present study aims to support previous research on the effects of antioxidant therapy on the outcome of diabetic retinopathy and local oxidative stress values. The researchers intend to evaluate 56 patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy undergoing the vitrectomy procedure, who will be assigned to a placebo group or combination antioxidant therapy. Each group will receive the intervention for 2 months. This intervention consists of taking one tablet (placebo or antioxidant therapy) orally, once a day. At the beginning of the study, only blood samples will be collected to evaluate the state of oxidative and metabolic stress at a systemic level. After 2 months of intervention, blood samples will be taken again on the day of the intervention, adding the samples of aqueous and vitreous humor obtained during the vitrectomy. The results obtained between both groups and the different analysis matrices will be compared.

The main goal of this trial is to assess the safety and response rate to concomitant chemotherapy and external hypofractionated radiotherapy followed by brachytherapy in patients with clinical stage III cervical cancer. The trial will take place in the National Cancer Institute (INCan). Patients will be randomized into two groups: chemotherapy with external standard fractionated radiotherapy (45 Gy in 25 fractions) followed by brachytherapy or chemotherapy with external hypofractionated radiotherapy (37.5 Gy in 15 fractions) followed by brachytherapy.
