NCT ID: NCT00358943 Recruiting - Gaucher Disease Clinical Trials

International Collaborative Gaucher Group (ICGG) Gaucher Disease Registry & Pregnancy Sub-registry

Start date: April 1, 1991
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The ICGG Gaucher Registry is an ongoing, international multi-center, strictly observational program that tracks the routine clinical outcomes for patients with Gaucher disease, irrespective of treatment status. No experimental intervention is involved; patients in the Registry undergo clinical assessments and receive care as determined by the patient's treating physician. The objectives of the Registry are: - To enhance understanding of the variability, progression, identification, and natural history of Gaucher disease, with the ultimate goal of better guiding and assessing therapeutic intervention. - To assist the Gaucher medical community with the development of recommendations for monitoring patients, and to provide reports on patient outcomes, to optimize patient care. - To characterize the Gaucher disease population. - To evaluate the long-term effectiveness of imiglucerase and of eliglustat. Gaucher Pregnancy Sub-registry: The primary objective of this Sub-registry is to track pregnancy outcomes, including complications and infant growth, in all women with Gaucher disease during pregnancy, regardless of whether they receive disease-specific therapy. No experimental intervention is given; thus a patient will undergo clinical assessments and receive standard of care treatment as determined by the patient's physician. If a patient consents to this Sub-registry, information about the patient's medical and obstetric history, pregnancy, and birth will be collected, and, if a patient consents to data collection for her infant, data on infant growth through month 36 postpartum will be collected.

NCT ID: NCT00358878 Completed - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Cirrhotic Ascites Treatment With Satavaptan in Patients With Ascites Due to Cirrhosis of the Liver (CATS)

CATS
Start date: July 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Primary:To evaluate the efficacy of satavaptan on top of conventional treatment in the treatment of clinically evident ascites in patients with cirrhosis of the liver. Secondary:To evaluate the tolerability and safety of satavaptan over a 52-week treatment period in patients with cirrhosis of the liver and ascites. The one-year double blind placebo controlled period is extended up to 2 years in a long term safety study (PASCCAL-2).

NCT ID: NCT00358865 Completed - Clinical trials for Acquired Brain Injury

Checking the Usability of a Virtual Reality System in Children With Brain Injury

Start date: December 2005
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to check the usability of Virtual Reality (VR) Video Capture Projected System in children with acquired brain injury(ABI)and comparing their performance to the performance of normally developing children. The trial shall include 15 subjects in each group, aged 6-12 years old. ABI subjects are hospitalized at the hospital's Pediatric Rehabilitation Department Each subject will experience 3 different virtual environments. The subjects in the trial group will practice 3 experiences (3 times in 3 different days) during a period of a week to 10 days, to check the practice effect. In addition, all subjects will be tested in three tests: "PEDI" - to evaluate the functional abilities of daily living (dressing, eating...),The "Melbourne Assessment" - to evaluate functional movements of upper extremities, and the TEA-ch - to evaluate different attention abilities. Performance correlations will be tested between these tests and the performance in the VR first experience.

NCT ID: NCT00358345 Completed - Clinical trials for Age Related Macular Degeneration

PreView PHP Preferential Hyperacuity Perimeter for the Detection of Choroidal Neovascularization

Start date: October 2003
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Observational

The primary objective of this study is to assess the ability of the PreView PHP(study device)to detect newly diagnosed non-treated Choroidal Neovascularization (CNV)lesion associate with advanced Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) or Myopia and differentiate them from Intermediate AMD or Geographic Atrophy (GA)or patients with high Myopia with no CNV. This study secondary is to enhance NotalVision normative database.

NCT ID: NCT00358293 Completed - Muscle Spasticity Clinical Trials

Study of Nighttime Dosing of Sublingual Tizanidine (12 mg) in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Patients With Significant Spasticity

Start date: December 2006
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Nightly administration of 8 mg of a unique sublingual (under the tongue) formulation of tizanidine, a known anti-spasticity medication, has been shown in a previous study to improve next-day spasticity, about 12 hours following dosing in 20 multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. This improvement was statistically significant when compared to oral tizanidine dosing. The current study is being undertaken to see if increasing the dose to 12 mg once nightly will result in an even greater improvement, with a longer effect, i.e., next day improvement in spasticity both in the morning as well as in the late afternoon.

NCT ID: NCT00358215 Completed - Heart Failure Clinical Trials

RED-HF™ Trial - Reduction of Events With Darbepoetin Alfa in Heart Failure Trial

Start date: June 1, 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to determine the efficacy of treatment of anemia with darbepoetin alfa compared to placebo on the composite of time to death from any cause or first hospital admission for worsening heart failure in patients with symptomatic left ventricular systolic dysfunction and anemia.

NCT ID: NCT00358150 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Gaucher Disease, Type 1

A Study of the Efficacy and Safety of Eliglustat Tartrate (Genz-112638) in Type 1 Gaucher Patients

Start date: June 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Gaucher disease is a genetic disease that results in a deficiency of an enzyme acid beta-glucosidase, also known as glucocerebrosidase. This enzyme is needed to digest a substrate (lipid) called glucosylceramide and, to a lesser degree, glucosylsphingosine. In participants with Gaucher disease, the liver, spleen, bone marrow and brain show increases in lipid concentration, specifically in cells derived from the monocyte/macrophage system. Eliglustat tartrate (Genz-112638) is an oral drug that may regulate the Gaucher disease process by decreasing the synthesis of glucosylceramide. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetics (PK) of eliglustat tartrate, administered as an oral dose of either 50 milligram (mg) twice daily (BID) or 100 mg BID, to men and women with Gaucher disease Type 1 for 52 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT00356863 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Effect of an Educational Intervention on Cardiac Patients' Participation Rate in Cardiac Rehabilitation Programs

MECRIS
Start date: February 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The main aim of the study is to determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention designed to increase attendance of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) patients at Cardiac Rehabilitation Programs (CRPs) on actual CRP participation rate and; examine patient-related factors (demographic, health, psychosocial, awareness) influencing patients' attendance at CRPs. We hypothesized that the proportion of CABG patients participating in CRPs will increase significantly to 20-30% following the educational intervention employed.
