NCT ID: NCT00375115 Completed - Influenza Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Sambucol in the Treatment of Influenza

Start date: September 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The trial will examine the efficacy of sambucol in the treatment of influenza. The primary efficacy endpoint will be the length of time to resolution of influenza illness. The double blind trial will be conducted at the Personnel Clinic, and at the Clinical virology Unit, Hadassah University Hospital, and will include 100 patients with laboratory-confirmed influenza infection, 50 in the sambucol and 50 in the placebo study arm.

NCT ID: NCT00375011 Terminated - Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Breath Test to Assess Hepatic Metabolic Reserve and to Predict Hepatic Decompensation in Cirrhotics

Start date: September 2008
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The three objectives of this trial are: 1. To demonstrate that a decline in hepatic metabolic function as measured by BreathID will correlate with changes in CTP and MELD scores in patients with cirrhosis. 2. To determine the critical value of hepatic metabolic function as measured by BreathID will predict which patients are at risk to develop complications of cirrhosis. 3. To determine the critical value of hepatic metabolic function as measured by BreathID will predict which patients are at risk for liver related mortality. The hypothesis is that the BreathID breath test will correlate to CTP and MELD scores, and that thresholds can be established that will help predict risk of complications of cirrhosis and mortality.

NCT ID: NCT00374881 Completed - Acute Pain Clinical Trials

A Study of the Safety and Efficacy of Combination Therapy With Morphine, Phenylephrine and Sorbitol in Human Subjects

Start date: September 2006
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Efficacy and Safety of the combined oral adjuvants phenylephrine and sorbitol on oral low dose morphine analgesia.

NCT ID: NCT00374322 Completed - Neoplasms, Breast Clinical Trials

Tykerb Evaluation After Chemotherapy (TEACH): Lapatinib Versus Placebo In Women With Early-Stage Breast Cancer

Start date: August 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study was designed to evaluate and compare the safety and efficacy of an oral dual tyrosine kinase inhibitor, lapatinib, versus placebo in women with early-stage ErbB2-overexpressing breast cancer who have completed their primary neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy and have no clinical or radiographic evidence of disease.

NCT ID: NCT00372359 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Adverse Effect of Prolonged Methylphenidate Treatment on Cardiac Functions

Start date: August 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to find out whether prolonged treatment with methylphenidate has any adverse effect on cardiac functions and measurements.

NCT ID: NCT00372151 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

L-Theanine in the Management of Schizophrenia

Start date: October 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the proposed study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of add-on gamma-glutamylethylamide (L-theanine) versus a placebo for antipsychotic treatment for 8 weeks in a randomized, double-blind, parallel group study of 60 patients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders.

NCT ID: NCT00371683 Completed - Pulmonary Embolism Clinical Trials

Study of Apixaban for the Prevention of Thrombosis-related Events Following Knee Replacement Surgery

Start date: November 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to learn if apixaban can prevent blood clots in the leg (deep vein Thrombosis [DVT]) and lung (pulmonary embolism [PE]) that sometimes occur after knee replacement surgery and to learn how apixaban compares to enoxaparin (Lovenox®) for preventing these clots. The safety of apixaban will also be studied.

NCT ID: NCT00370578 Recruiting - Angioplasty Clinical Trials

Aspiration Device in Myocardial Infarction Trial

Start date: September 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Early promising data are published focusing on the role of manual thrombus aspiration devices in patients with ST segment elevation (STEMI). The aim of our single center randomized study is to evaluate the early and late effect of thrombus aspiration device (AD) after every stage during Primary PCI in the set-up of STEMI population. Our hypothysis is that preforming thrombus aspiration after every stage of primary PCI may give early and late advantages compared to the standard primary PCI technique.

NCT ID: NCT00369902 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

The Effect of Acupuncture Treatment on the Perception of Pain and Coping With Pain

Start date: May 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The Purpose of this study is to evaluate whether cognitive and emotional components take part in the positive acupuncture effect on pain.

NCT ID: NCT00369876 Active, not recruiting - Burns Clinical Trials

Anorexia in Children With Burn Injury and the Reactions of the Immune and Endocrine Systems

Start date: August 2004
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Observational

Anorexia in children with burn injury is a common phenomenon. The study is searching for the origin of the anorexia in those children. The study correlates between the level peptides of the immune and the endocrine systems and the length of the anorexia.
