There are about 9745 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Israel. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
phase 2 study. Target disease: Crohn's disease. Rational and relevance to IBD patients: Copaxone is known for its high safety profile and for acting as an effective immunomodulatory agent for the treatment of MS. . In experimental models of IBD, a beneficial effect of Copaxone was demonstrated where significant amelioration of macroscopic colonic damage, preservation of the microscopic colonic structure, reduced weight loss, and improved long-term survival in treated compared with untreated mice was demonstrated. In addition, Copaxone suppressed the proliferation of local mesenteric lymphocytes to syngeneic colon extract, significantly reduced the overall secretion of TNF-α and induced the secretion of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β. The ability of Copaxone to effectively modulate the clinical manifestations and the detrimental immune response involved in experimental colitis, together with its high safety profile support its potential effect as a new treatment for CD. Patients: patients with moderately active Crohn's disease as indicated by a CDAI 220 - 450, whose diagnosis was done more than 3 months before enrollment. Study objectives: to test the efficacy and safety of Copaxone in CD patients. Study design: This will be a single center, randomized, double blind placebo controlled phase 2 study. Subjects will be assessed for study eligibility 1 to 2 weeks prior to baseline Eligible patients will be enrolled into the study after signing an informed consent form and allocated in a 1.5:1 ratio to receive either Copaxone or placebo. A total of 50 patients will be recruited. Subcutaneous injections (Copaxone or Placebo) will be administered daily through week 12. Patient assessment of safety and efficacy will be made at weeks 0,4,8,12 and 16. At week 12 non-responders would be offered an open label arm with daily Copaxone 20mg for the next 12 weeks
Our aim is to evaluate the potential of a new laboratory method that measure sperm capacitation to predict fertilization of oocytes in patients that undergo IVF treatments
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with obstructive sleep apnea. Abnormalities in liver enzymes can improve following continuous positive airway pressure in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Computerized tomography can be used to quantify fatty liver changes. We hypothesize that continuous positive airway pressure can reduce morphologic fatty liver changes in patients with obstructive sleep apnea and non-alcoholic fatty liver, an that this reduction can be evident using computerized tomography
The purpose of this study is to determine the commonness of the C677T mutation in the MTHFR gene in subjects with B12 deficiency. Also, we'd like to investigate the effect of B12 deficiency combined with the C677T mutation on endothelial function.
Fever is one of the most common symptoms in pediatrics and one of the most common reasons for visits in pediatricians' office and pediatric emergency departments. Many parents consider fever to be the most terrifying symptom. Ibuprofen is an effective and safe treatment for febrile children. Until recently ibuprofen was available only in tablets suspension and as a liquid gel. All these dosage form are administered orally. Rectal suppositories are often essential for treating febrile children who cannot take medications by mouth (e.g vomiting). In the current study we aim to compare the effect on fever of ibuprofen given as suspension with ibuprofen suppositories.
A comparative bioavailability study of PCA slow release versus immediate release formulations, after a single dose to fasting healthy subjects.
BioCart™II is a novel scaffold seeded with autologous chondrocytes to be used to repair cartilage lesions of the knee. This study is designed to compare the efficacy and safety of BioCart™II treatment compared to microfracture which is the classical method of treatment.
The present study is assessing the efficacy and safety of AVE5530 (25 mg and 50 mg) in add-on to ongoing statin treatment in a double-blind manner in comparison with placebo, in the management of patients with primary hypercholesterolemia considered as inadequately controlled despite their ongoing statin treatment. The main objective is to evaluate the effects of the association AVE5530+statin on LDL-C level reduction after 12 weeks of treatment. The effects of AVE5530 on other lipid parameters will be assessed as secondary objectives.
to evaluate the influence of PRGF treatment on patient suffering from OA knee
In the literature there is conflicting data on administration of local analgesia in addition to the general anesthesia to the trocar sites during laparoscopy, We believe that adding local analgesia to the general anesthesia during laparoscopy is beneficial . the current study will evaluate prospectivly the impact of local analgesia on postoperative pain and recovery in patients undergoing operative laparoscopy
